  1. Oh Shoot speaks with Wisdom! (add corny asian music in background)
  2. Burris Fast Fire systems. Had one on an Remy 870 with no issues. Small enough to run on pistols but enough viewing area to run on a shotgun or rifle. SWFA Burris Rifle Scopes Burris FastFire Red-Dot Reflex Sights
  3. Midway (midwayusa.com) has good deals on brass at times. You can also find it at Starline and a ton of other online brass dealers with a simple search. We even have a member here from North Carolina who sells brass! Dies, same place, Midway, Graff & Sons, or put up a want to buy post here on the site and see who's been saving them up.
  4. We got a Mossberg "Tactical Turkey" in the shop a few days ago. Complete Camo, adjustable stock, pistol grip with shell holder built into stock, high vis sight....it's interesting to me. Would love to see how it shoots. Someone else could probably use this in a few weeks.
  5. Welcome Yogi! Post up the calibers your going to want to load for and the rest will follow.
  6. Can't say it in words Mike.
  7. Then why didn't you shoot that ole bird last year!? He was in range for you! Quit being nice next time and take the shot.
  8. Yep, I'm running old style classic again (since I sold Hunting 101 the Stoeger last year!! LOL) Simple Remy 870 with a Remington Full Turkey choke. It'll work. I'll go ahead and pattern it soon just to see what it does but I usually don't risk long shots anyway...do I McFlurry.
  9. On it rebel, the big guy's on it as well
  10. Dang you take great pics of the beast Jeff! Mine won't near that good (but I'll try)
  11. A good full choke does wonders!
  12. Whatever is on sale. Greg speaks the truth.
  13. Good read! If anyone in the mid TN area wants to read it I can find it on the shelve. Come see me at the gun shop.
  14. Dang it, I always get that wrong.
  15. Hey, wasnt' that a rental?
  16. What Smith said.
  17. They usually gobble at day break early in the season and then go quite. Get up early and listen. You'll hear them. I have heard gobbles in the fall.
  18. Biggest bird I ever got was from a tree stand. My son was in his own next to me and was only as high up as I could push the footrest up as he was still a bit of a tike. Shot the bird, told him to go get his bird and he just dropped to the foot rest of the stand, hung like a monkey and dropped to the ground rather than wait for me to climb down and "lower" him. If I get the chance, I'll hunt from up above again. When the birds are hot, they don't care, they will come to you dragging your fingernails across a chaulk board.
  19. So McFlurry, gonna return the favor and let me see your farm this year or do I have to drag you down to the bottom lands of Wayne Co.? I'd ask Bronker but he's got threads to mod and can't be seen speaking with us in public no more.
  20. You'll hate it. Sell it to me when your done putting shaving cream and cologne in it for your overnights. Air it out first please.
  21. 300 grain remington jacketed hollow points work very well on deer. Your essentially using a 45-70 or 444 Marlin ballistically. Barnes also has a 300 grain TSX that is a fantastic round for this caliber. I'll be loading them soon as well. You shouldn't need a follow up shot but you can sure get one down range quick if you need to. If one of you was the one that called me at the shop today, post up. I have your name and number on the board in back waiting on the next shipment.
  22. I zeroed my first Socom ( a custom build with a Pac Nor barrel) at 100 yards with one shot. I used the Rock River Arms one piece scope mount and it was dead on with the first shot. That left enough room with a 3x-9x scope to easily move it out to 200. The ballistics on this round are similar to the 45-70. Longer ranges are possible. There were pictures on the original 458 Socom Forum of a fellow down in Texas that had put ladder sights on his and he was ringing a 12 inch gong at 700 yards. Now the rifle looked like an artillery piece and was pointed near 40 degrees to launch the big projos that far but it will reach out there if needed. It's not designed for long range. It was designed after a bull session over beer and steak by an engineer and some military guys during SandBox One. Guys at check points were tired of 5.56 not being effective against heavier targets such as moving vehicles at check points or behind the stone walls of Iraq. This was designed to give the guys some punch with only the change of the upper. Uses standard AR mags and buffer system. You can get 100 grain aluminum hollow points that will scream out at 4000 feet per second or load 600 grain subsonics and use them with suppressor systems. My two favorite loads have been the 300 grain JHPs and the 405 grain SPs. I also loaded Barnes solids but never got to test them for effect. ( I shot most of them at a brake rotor at Bronker's place one summer). For you Nashville area guys, we have one on layaway at D&T right now you can look at and we have three more on order from RRA. One of those is spoken for but you can be number 2 or 3 for the next ones. I can also assist anyone with load data and dies as the cost of loaded factory is still high enough to warrant the cost savings of reloading. Jeff, I want more info on that trigger! Maybe I'll put a Rock River two stage up for sale if you can convince me it's that much better with your current setup.
  23. Not after they compared calories needed to keep you producing work vs the calories you could provide the rest! LOL
  24. That's something you can hang your hat on! Shamelessly stolen from a great song.
