I would say we should talk to Dave about a group buy discount on getting two Vipers but I can't swing the cabbage for a few months on that.   I don't mind re-zeroing so I'll take this one off the Savage and move it over.  Need to do some thinking/re-mounting on the Savage anyway since I had to dial in 64 clicks at 100 yards after bore sighting to zero it with the current rings.  I'll never see 1000 yards with the current ones.    Next time you and Okie shoot on a Sunday, please call me!!  I'll bring something to make it worth the while for everyone!

I have one of those fakes on the way.  Got it on Ebay and when the shipping notification stated China Post, I knew I had bought a fake. Now to see how bad it is when it arrives.

I'm with you on the "ouch" Mike.  I'm at $1003.00 but the upper lower stuff is all here or on the way.    I need to get 4 mags, the barrel kit and order up some ammo to start brass generation so at least another grand to put it together.   Then some glass...sigh.   I wish I could satisfy myself with that BSA scope you linked me to but I just can't.  Maybe on a .22, jus saying.   May have to talk to Dave about another PST.

  My brother can turn it for me.  May just do that.  Probably cheaper in the long run. 

I still need to call them about the forward assist.  Forgot about that last week.   Where's MacGyver when you need him.   Mac...if you're out there, I'm going to bed, call your buddy at CMT and ask him what type of forward assist they used for the Gen two upper photos and if the lowers will have any issues with KNS pins.   Talk to you daywalkers tomorrow!

But then I HAVE to get the dies, powder, boolits....   I can generate brass shooting some factory loaded stuff which is Lapua brass if I get it from AA.   I'm wondering if the CMT lowers would have any issues with KNS anti roll pins as well....hmm. 

Mind change!!!!   I ordered the WMD-X bolt carrier group after reading all the reviews on them.  Comes with a Nickel Boron coated hammer as well.  I don't know if I'll mix a NiB hammer with my RRA two stage so who wants a shiny hammer??   Mike, you should trade me some brass for the shiny hammer thingy!   Now the wait begins for CMT to start shipping and me to save up enough to order the barrel!  Still got to get some mags and will probably just break down and buy some factory ammo from AA or some other online places to get started.  Lapua brass still way to high for me to look at when Hornady is half the price.

I'll just come down and help you work up some of those loads Mike!  I'll even help police up the brass.  :pleased:

It looks like I'll have half the costs of the 6.5 rifle in the barrel and about the same in everything behind it, minus glass as well.  I'm sitting at $859.00 right now with everything here or on order for upper/lower complete and ready to go.  I just got to wait a few weeks so I can order the JP barrel kit.    As it currently stands, I'll probably move my Vortex PST over to this rifle until I can afford another long range scope.

That's not APFSDS.  The penetrator would have a sharper nose.  I thought the ring was the sabot as well but it should be disengaging from the round by then.  As for the explosion, I'm surprised the camera even survived to download.  The noise you hear is overpowering the mic so it could be good old fashioned HEP (high explosive plastic). 

I wouldn't think that CMT would design the upper for a forward assist and then just plug it for a promotional photo.   I did look at the plugs but since I'm getting a bolt with forward assist notches, I'll get a forward assist. I'll give CMT a call and ask someone directly what they installed in that rifle.

Yep. Apparently their website is sleepy today as I was going to put the magazine catch and bolt in my wish list so I could drop the order tomorrow. Got the old "service not available" message. When I drop that order, I have everything but the barrel/handguards and the forward assist here or on the way. Going with the JP barrel kit, just got to save some more dollars for that. Billet parts so I have their stuff for the bolt catch and mag release button. I still need the forward assist and I want the one I see on CMT's website. SOMEONE help me identify this FA. I apologize for ripping off their pic but it's easier just to post it here instead of trying to get you all to go find it on their site. The profile for that assist just blends with the billet upper. Who makes it!?

  Socom hell, I waited 11 months for one of their LAR-8s!   I do miss having that big mutha sitting in the safe but the 308 fills most of the space.

CTD sucks

$73.00 minimum.  Might even get a buck 50 per piece if it's once fired!  Keep this at the top of the pages for a day or so, there are a few folks here that have Socoms and they will be in touch I'm sure.  I know I would be if I hadn't sold my rifle to one of the members here (who promptly resold it...dag nab it).   Starline, the primary source for this brass is out and not taking back orders due to demand.  Can't even get a current price for it.

I believe it's Russian.  There are several videos with Russian "advisors" in them. 

I have been wondering what they are shooting as well.  AP would be a waste of time since it would leave a small hole and keep going through the next several buildings.  HEP (High Explosive Plastic) probably but the bursts on the receiving end don't look big enough.  For all I know they could be shooting the practice rounds which would do enough carnage hitting a cinder block wall and causing that to be the shrapnel.   I was in armor for a short time back in the 80's and HEP was already on it's way out.  Sabot and HEAT were about all we carried and not the first choice I would say for shooting up apartment buildings.
