  1. I wondered myself, so I just went to Yahoo.com. I usually Google things so I had to type it in. In the search bar I typed STRICKJ and the 5th hit was Tennessee Gun Owners ! The link just takes you to the homepage Look who tops the list as shown in the blurb for the hit Tennessee Gun Owners TNGunOwners.com is a discussion forum for gun owners and 2nd Amendment ... pws_smokeyjones, readyornot, saintsfanbrian, strickj, The Rabbi, tnroadrunner, ... www.tngunowners.com - 54k - Cached
  2. Yes.....the 642 was inspired by the sermon just this Sunday!
  3. Its also super penetrating and will kill the gas seals on your scopes! Pss Psss spray on....hiss hiss, leaks out!
  4. Hey KTW, good to see you over here. Tell Hank to get his butt in here. I hardly ever get over to ARFCOM any more.
  5. I thought Reef had done this to a poor girl till he turned around! Take him to your barber Reef, then he will be able to shoot!
  6. uh, yeah.....bump fire. Not recommended. Quality trigger and practice on reaquiring target quickly is the ticket.
  7. A big wad of keys on a small wooden dowel (also known as a kubotan if you want to buy one). Put a rabbits foot on it so they let you through the metal detector. (also deflects attention away from the two barrel polymer gun you made in your basement)
  8. or get a good AR and work on that trigger finger to get really fast 3 times !
  9. Well there ya go. 14.39 and your causing mayhem!
  10. +1 on the snap caps. It also teaches failure mode! The issue is I have never seen 380 snap caps but then I wasn't looking for them. Probably out there. If not, load some dummy rounds or have someone load them and paint them blue
  11. For all of you....the great thing about the AR platform is you don't get stuck into anything! About the only thing you want to decide is do you want the classic AR with the carry handle or a flat top (A3/A4) and put a scope or holo like the EOtech on it. You'll also want to decide on barrel length. Standard (20 inch), Mid length (16 inch) or Carbine (16 inch with the short hand guard) After that, as you get more info and become more familiar with it, add to it! I'm not a RRA shill but I do own a bunch of their parts (in three different rifles). Go here and get the basic model rifle, then mod it up as much or little as you want. 12. The AR 15 is only another semi automatic rifle just like your Browning or Remington semi auto ONLY its styled on the military rifle, the M16. It does allow the user to have more shots available than most deer rifles should they choose and are allowed to use in their state, the larger capacity magzines. You can buy them complete or by the piece and assemble in the variation you wish from dealers or shops across the country. The only portion that is controlled and must be purchased through a FFL holder is the lower receiver, the small section where the trigger group is housed and that has the serial number on it. All other parts can be shipped to your door step. Go to a reputable dealer in your area and take a look. (If you can make it to him, go see Joe at Hero Gear or any of the other recommended shops from the folks in this forum) If you decide to buy one online and have it shipped to your FFL, look at Rock River Arms, DPMS, Sabre, etc. (stay away from Olympic Arms) Keep reading the posts on ARs here and I would recommend a run over to AR15.com (arfcom) and if you can filter through some of the flame wars, there is tons of info over there. Once you have your first complete rifle, you can change it up by buying some other caliber upper receivers to change what you shoot! You can shoot things as small as 17 Tactical up to the 458 SOCOM. Then you can look at AR 10 platform for .308 and other larger calibers to add to your collection. Warning: Black Rifle Disease is completely addictive and can cause irritation to significant others in your family!
  13. Its actually a prototype that was shown at SHOT this year by Magpul. The receiver and barrel were Glock. There are no plans to market it yet. With Magpuls past strategy, they show something and then sell the concept off to someone else ala MASADA. I thought it was pretty cool though. Rabbi, don't be hating, they might come out with one in a revovler or something.
  14. I would definitely buy some other ammo and test it out. Most people worry about to much of a strike from their firing pins not to little. If you check next time your out (anyone with an AR) and shoot a round and then hand cycle the one that just fed in the chamber you will probably see a dimple on the primer already from the firing pin bumping the round as the bolt slams forward. The pin in an AR is free floating. My bet now is the ammo with some dead primers. You can send me about 50 rounds and I'll test it in my RRA. I'll need that many to get a good comparative set of data points!
  15. uh oh....stay tuned.........next thread Tennessee Law, Wills, and YOU ! Are you Prepared by Dotsun. Dotsun, was your bolt face fully engaging the extension? If it was having feeding problems already it sounds like it had alignment issues. Have you had the barrel off this AR? I guess since you already did it your gonna find out if it works but I have never heard of anyone taking some off the bolt to fix a light strike. Is it extracting when you manually run a round through it? If so then the round is fully seated against the bolt face and the problem is with hammer travel or something blocking the pin from traveling forward at full force. I see the logic of what your doing but have never heard of that type of fix. Shoot the first one behind some cover!
  16. Rock River Arms....no doubts
  17. Anyone here seen my tax refund check?
  18. Westwind, That's really what you want to do if you have a fixed sight rifle. If the Eotech fails, you don't want to have to fool with ripping it off. The reticle won't be there anymore so just shoot normal. If you do use back up sights they should align just like the fixed ones anyway. Everything is in alignment that way. Of course you could spend the big bucks on the quick detach mounts but you still have to stop what your doing and "quickly" detach a dead or malfuntioning holo. Its all in what you want to spend. A flat top receiver with a standard A2 front sight post works really well and all you have to add is a rear sight behind your Eotech. I practice shooting my somewhat different version upper without the holo all the time. Its also nice to know if the holo fails, I just keep shooting. Check it out, its the UTE (universal tactical entry) from Rock River.

    My First AR

Go to Yankee Hill Manufacturing for your add ons. Rock River uses the YHM stuff. I have never understood the cost associated with Daniel Defense rails besides they got numbers painted on the slots that I would immediately want to cover up. Rails, sights, rail additions, they have it all. Don't forget to look at the smooth tubes that you can put just a section of rail on! I have one quad rail but you have to cover them up with covers just to carry the darn things, they will eat your hands up. The smooth free float tubes have threaded holes where you can add a one inch up to 12 inch section of rail for lights, bipod mounts etc. Plus you can hold the damn thing like a rifle! http://www.yhm.net/
  20. Well no matter who ends up making it, and no matter how mall ninja it makes me look, I want one of them! You stock it Joe, I will come!
  21. I'm gonna lay off this thread now and apologize for my earlier comments. I believe we may be offending one of our members! Please stop it! Its been presented to us for months and we didn't recognize it. We are all a bunch of uncaring bastards! Strickj, I apologize for all of us for messing with your favorite gun as depicted in your avatar. I also apologize to Elvis as he also appears to be a big fan. (now he's gone and changed his durn Avatar again, joke ruined, time for bed)
  22. I thought I posted this last week, but here is a link to some photos from the administrator of the 458socomforums.com site. He was at Shot and took some pics of some pretty neat stuff. You can see a little detail of the pistol in some of them. Big pictures, dial up beware, this will take forever to load this page! http://458socomforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1161
  23. Very nice selection. Tim at Kotonics knows his stuff!
