A weapon and my GUN
-
Even though not required, its good courtesy to provide the permit to the officer. I haven't been pulled over in over 10 years but I will provide the officer one of my TWO permits along with my DL. Dobes, tell hubby to fork over the extra $5.00 and get a duplicate requested at the time he submits his application. I keep one hidden in the veh so if I should forget the wallet, I always have one with me. Another gem of knowledge provided by the instructor at my HCP course.

As I stated earlier in the thread, its not a long range shooter, its a big bore alternative that still matches up with the standard AR platform. You can also check out the 6.8 SPC or 6.5 Grendel that will match up to your standard AR lower and have a little bigger punch and ranges. If your set on the bigger cartridges then the AR10 is what you'll have to go with. From what I have gathered so far a .338 Lapua will be a custom so your looking at over 1K minimum just for the upper! (I don't know what your reading about the .458 but if your comparing it with "reviews" of the .450 Bushmaster and the .50 Beowulf, and liking them better, keep reading. Of the three, the SOCOM has more capabilities and better performance) Here's mine

Burris works well on the ARs. Have two, one on a .204 Ruger AR flat top and HAD another on the 458 but broke that one. Burris took care of it though and I just got word yesterday that they are sending me another scope and not bothering to repair the old one. The Fullfield IIs are reasonable and they are backed by the company if there is an issue. (I ran the one that broke through the wringer) For a mount, check out the Wilson Combat Lo Mount. Solid to both scope and pic rails. Not really that low either. Perfect eye height with the ACE Skeleton stock! http://www.wilsoncombat.com/r_lo_mount_scope_mount1.asp

I think you can get one but it will be a semi custom upper built on the AR10 platform. The closest I have seen out there is the .338 Federal that DPMS is making now. Let me do some checking and I'll post here again when I talk to Marty Ter Weeme. If anyone knows who's building these, he does.

Or have her move the gun to her side of the car?

Willie Daunick called and he wants his show back! (104.5 the ZONE in Nashville does "Why Is It" one night every week, Sports talk) I wonder why I don't wonder anymore?

Sorry to wade in to late to help but glad you got it figured Boom. Definitely take it back to the shop that sold it as they probably know or knew that the pin was missing. They probably used it to fix another gun planning to replace it later and forgot they had. Kimber test fires all their guns so it didn't leave Yonkers in that condition. Now how many shops and hands its been in since then is another question. If it gets "testy" you can email Mr. Personality at Kimber, Dennis Madonia dennism@kimberamerica.com He's not known for his charm and wit but he will help a Kimber owner out and get it right. He could also inform you who the pistol was originally sold to in case it was not a NIB as you were informed.

That be the real McCoy there Junglist. It has that look of having been "used"! Thanks for your service.

Rightwinger replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
One round each for BOTH front shirt pockets. Situational dependent. Minimum one mag or speed reloader. Max can range up to 5 mags in the carry bag. -
Save all the spiders and other creepy crawlies that will hit the glue strips so you'll have appetizers

Let it stay. If he gets mad he could put up something like Hillary, Nobama or......ROSIE...

The 458 is a great variant for the AR platform but its not a varmint round. Its a great deer hunting round though, comprable to the 45/70 Govt or .444 Marlin. All you need to know about the 458 is here. The developer of the round posts often and will answer any questions you might have about the round and rifle. Most have already been asked so look around. http://458socomforums.com/

A bit of clarification. The OP said another round in the AR 15 platform. He may have meant AR altogether and can so state, but if they really meant AR15 only then the .308 option is out the door(those being AR10s or LAR10s, etc). You have to buy an entirely different system for .308 and nothing is interchangable. For AR 15s you can shoot .223, .204, 6.8, 6.5 Grendel, 458 Socom and a plethora of other rounds that for the most part allow you to just buy the new upper and slap it on and perhaps a different magazine. You CAN hunt coyote, Pdog, ground hog with a .308, but why would you want to. .223 or .204 are perfect for real varmint hunting.

What Rabbi said! .204 Ruger is the varmint round. Very flat tracjectory round shooting 32 to 40 grain V-max rounds out to 600 yards. When I was thinking the same question I did my research and came up with the White Oaks Armament upper and bought one of those. Check em out here. http://www.whiteoakarmament.com/ John Hollinger, the owner is a national marksman champion and knows his stuff! Plus if you want to stick with .223 he has quality stainless heavy barrel uppers for those as well. Additional plus is he will do trigger jobs for you as well.

Best deal on bulk small pistol primers?
Rightwinger replied to awdbandito's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Local reloaders supply shop. You get hit with a minimum 20 dollar haz mat shipping charge when you order powder or primers through the net. I buy from the Reloaders Bench in Mt. Juliet. -

Rightwinger replied to Paletiger13's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Yeah, I figured Urse would come around and kick my A$$ for that one! If I ever found an AK when I had money I would probably buy one. There's just never any money and to many ARs. Have fun with your project. -
