Is Crumpy's still open in Memphis? Not great wings but they were convienent to where I was working for about 6 months (near Elvis's home if that scares anyone) On a side note, the best coleslaw I ever had was at RiverCity I think it was called?

That would be Deadliest Catch Strick ! Which makes me wonder, in all the episodes of Deadliest Catch, I never once saw them eat any of the crab! I saw them bite the heads off Cod Fish but with all that wonderful crab, they never showed them eating a one. Crazy

Look around your home and tell us all you don't have one foreign made item! If you try to say you drive Ford, Chevy or Chrysler then you bought foreign parts! Walmart is correct for not wanting the employees to unionize. No better way to kill productivity than to bring in a union.

TDR As far as break in for your barrel, remember every round down the bore is one further towards the end of the useful life! Get your upper, clean it thouroughly, light coat of lube in the bore (just a sheen, no thick film) and shoot normally. Thats it.

After getting out of the service in 89 I bought a Savage 110 in 30-06 and returned to deer hunting. Its taken more deer than any other rifle I have owned. A few years back I broke the synthetic stock in a tragic 4 wheeler incident that also cost me the mounted gun case and my heavy camo coat! Lets just say that if you hang your coat over your gun boot, remember to remove it before backing your 4 wheeler up to get it out of the rain! I backed up, caught coat under wheel, jacket pulled down and before ripping straight up the back, pulled down on the gun boot and broke it and the stock of the rifle! Ugly, but it forced me to get the nice thumbhole varminter stock its mounted on now. It was also my first semi finished stock that I sanded, put the Tru-Oil to and got that finish you'll see. Since I got my 458 Socom, I have hunted with it the past two years quite a bit. 300 grain JHPs have the same specs as Kahr's 45-70 in a compact and quick hitting platform. I have a Vector Optics 1x-4x with lighted reticle on board that one. Those are my favorites. I have also used .444 Marlin, .340 Wby and this year will use a .300 Wby Mag courtesy of the Kahr Man himself.

A Few Words About Lube....The Great WD-40 Controversy
Rightwinger replied to a topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Probably the one thing that you all agreed on was that WD-40 is a penetrant but what has not been mentioned is WHERE it will penetrate and thus this warning. Do not use WD-40 on any weapon with a scope. The WD-40 will penetrate the seals and your nitrogen gas will then purge! The scope will then fog from the inside and is toast. Seen it happen, was not my scope but I learned the lesson. I use Lucas Gun Oil and Kroil after cleaning with Gun Scrubber and/or Barnes CR-10 or Sweets for copper fouling. -
Take the Eotech, you already know what your getting with that and get a Millet or another scope later. In fact since you'll have your close range stuff covered then you can look at some higher mag level scopes and shoot out a little farther. Of course by then you'll be looking at just getting another upper so you don't have to re-zero anything by pulling it off one upper. It never ends, learn to live with it.

As long as they go south or west I'll help by sending a donation and some floaties

They should BAN earthquakes....those are really effecting their society today! It would have the same effect as all their other bans as well but they will "feel" good for having done it.

Yep, just cracking the castle nut on mine to change stocks proved almost impossible because RRA used loctite on it. Ended up sending the whole lower to them so their armorers could deal with it. This is much more detail intensive, and unless your going to get into total builds, buying the vise template for your upper receiver, the wrenches to take it down and install, etc, as I stated and Joe followed up, I think you would be better served to buy the upper already set up and ready by the folks who do it for a living. You'll be happier in the long run. Probably save a few bucks too. Some folks just love to work with their hands and going from the ground up is satisfying. They deal with the issues that occur better. If that's what your looking for TDR then your on the right track. Just watch for all the pitfalls that might occur and the added costs they could throw on you if you have issues and then have to seek smith assistance.

Yes! That would be the ticket

so your the one that stole my Larry Niven books ! SNAP!

Well, it will be easy to remove but its part of the gas system ! If you remove a standard front sight you will have to replace it with a flat or pic railed gas block. You have to ensure you get one that matches your barrels diameter and that will cover up the area that the old one covered or you'll have barrel showing that was probably not smoothed as much and is of a different color (maybe unblued even). I would suggest that you buy one already set up for BUIS with the gas block with rails on top so you don't have to punch any pins and scrape up your barrel. You would also have to remove any flash hider to get the old one off and the new one on so you would probably want another crush washer for that....save your self the trouble if your set on the back ups and get it totally flat the first time. Get the RRA ! http://www.rockriverarms.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=266 A4 Flat top on a mid length complete upper, hit the drop down and add the weaver gas block +35 or the detachable sight gas block +75. Your out the door for 505.00 or 545.00. I would spend the extra scratch to get their new half smooth half 4 rail handguard system as well ! That thing is the cats ass! http://www.rockriverarms.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=380

Yep, it goes through the stock and into the threaded portion of the rear of the buffer tube. Wiggle it!
-
The Big Hex head, B is the one that goes through the top to buffer tube so if its not working, something is wrong.
-
Looks like mine except the bottom hole is much smaller. Hmmmmm Maybe it never got "trimmed" the way its supposed to? Can you look in the smaller, left hole from front or back and see if the full length of the hole is that size or is it begger inside and just not trimmed to correct size on the back? I'm probably headed south for the afternoon, if its still not going together I can swing by and look or you can call ACE and ask them what the heck!

Oooooh...I just had an unsolved mysteries flash. Man with unloaded handgun (aka metal rock) found dead in streets of (anytown). J/K sounds like it would give you the confidence to start carrying it. Of course fall and winter carry change drastically over summer (in most cases) If your worried about it hanging on your shirt or coat, etc....go shirtless or get a carry bag. Maxpedition makes a fine one!
-
Okay, the hex head, B, goes in the top and all the way through to your buffer tube. The little one goes through the bottom. Thats it! Now, my little screw looks like the ones that hold the stock body to the the buffer tube near the receiver, its not flat! Could just be a model change over as mine is probably two years old. Don't let the "funnel" looking hole on the top try to make you put that small one on top. Its only job is to hold the bottom of the buttpad onto the stock. If its still giving you issues tomorrow we will need a pic of your buffer to make sure its matching up (not a carbine length ) or some other distracting problem. Oh yeah, probably going to go shooting tomorrow afternoon....

Evening TDR....how much is it worth to ya for the secret?
-
Your in luck....I could probably be convinced to give you transferable American tender in the amount of TEN DOLLARS for that evil POS and rid you or the trouble. I'll even come get it from ya!

Come on Everything in life is based on levels and priorities. Guns used carelessly or lawlessly can cause harm and the bad people have them just like we do. Man with a gun means its out in the public so the police must react, even if it ends with nice gun, where'd ya get it? The threat level goes up when you mention car and drunk or wreckless driving as well...its just a car, everyone has them... Its like triage at the hospital, overnight delivery or anything else, because we can reason, we automatically prioritize things. I'm sure every guy eating a burger who just happens to have a gun scares this stupid lady but now she knows. It might save another call later in her life. A dispatcher would be terminated for making a statement like that even if if the public were much more educated and tolerant of open carry. Any weapons call demands attention and puts the officer on alert.

You'll be able to add roughing you up to the complaint as well because if you resist they will restrain you! That means....snick, cuffed! I'm just saying that with the emphasis on domestic violence in law enforcement they will verify that there is or is not anything going on. They will enter your home and base it on probable cause from the call to check on the welfare of both of you. They are coming in! As stated in lots of places, violence has settled the most disputes in history. That is power and at that point they have all the power. If you try to shut the door they are coming in. If you try to talk to them at the door and do not let them in, they ARE coming in. Do you see a pattern here? I'm just as proud of being a man and standing up for my rights as anyone, but in this case I'm going to say come on in, honey the police would like to talk to you, I'll be outside. I'll play nice and like I said, I'll be looking to see what asshat has been listening or looking in my window. If it were a question of "do you own any guns" I'll answer I own lots of things, all personal property kept here on personal property and stand my ground and ask what's going on if it appears they want to come in, I'll wait for them to produce the warrant. There is no immediate threat at that point like there is on a domestic call. If they are coming in at that point they will inform me of the warrant at the intial conversation. I'm for helping LEO all I can to the point where they cross the line. If they say Domestic, I'm going to smile and comply because they ARE COMING IN!
