  1. We have the cost effective New England Firearms Youth and Pardner models. Both shoot 3 inch Mags with modified chokes. They pattern very well out to 25 yards. Have not really done any checks past that. Currently using the Winchester Supremes 3 inch mags with 5 Shot Call em in close and you can kill em by eating garlic the night before!
  2. Just get the Turkey Loads from any ammo vendor, 5 shot. Both my boys use single shot 20s Bronker.
  3. They loose their hold on the purse strings when we are allowed to grow ourselves out of this problem. Where's that book on how to get off the net again?
  4. Don't forget to put a couple in your car for tomorrow Bronker.
  5. Is he campaigning for 2012 already? "The last 8 years" for petes sake. You got the job buddy! Try doing something presidential!
  6. I have been to Ocean Side Drive in Memphis! I almost got stuck in the mud island when my rims got ripped!
  7. I just sat my kids down in front of the TV to watch the face of evil. I cannot believe people are buying into this stimulus package crap. Cut personal and corporate taxes in the amount of 1/4 of what they are willing to spend to "stimulate" us and they won't know what to do with the money and will be able to start paying off this debt! Arrrhggg
  8. Eyebedam ! ! What the hell is your gun sitting on!? Are those your swim trunks? I'm getting flashes of Johnny Weismueller in drag here fella!
  9. Not thick enough, but satisfactory to be seen in public with TDR.
  10. Want to come shoot mine!!
  11. Yeah, we shouldn't let facts interfere in these postings at all!
  12. I agree Linoge, there was no Starship Troopers movie! Just as there was no Dune movie until Sci Fi channel did the second one all the way through Children of Dune. Hollywood can screw up any story.
  13. Yeah, I think a two year term of citizen service would be a good thing for everyone. Not neccessarily military but service. Then we could beat Obama to the punch saying "there's your Citizens Corp" Love Heinlein by the way!
  14. How do I carry my HCP? Which one? I have two. Unless they have changed the rules, when you apply you can ask for a duplicate permit. I keep one in a special spot in the truck so if that fateful day I did forget my wallet, I have another permit in the vehicle I usually drive. It was 5 bucks extra 2 years ago. Do it if they still allow it.
  15. Yep, miss the Gipper. I have a calendar hanging in my POD of Reagan sent to me by his library which I gave a small donation. This months photo was of THE President riding in a jeep on his ranch. Blue jeans, work shirt and you can tell it was real. He enjoyed that and was as close to being a normal person who just happend to end up in the White House as we have ever had in modern times. Sure wish we had him or someone like him there now.
  16. been there, done that, my arse still hurts from the raping. So how you doing these days Rick?
  17. Okay, and the final plug from the RW and I'll leave it to the rest of you. My brother is a lead man, foreman, chief installer, what have you, he doesn't care for a title but make no mistake, on his job site there are no other bosses but him. No college, worked his way up off the floor as a welder. Has worked for Japanese owned companies and American (as he is currently). He has worked with all these "skilled" construction unions in Ohio, Kentucky and California and has NO use for them at all. He makes more money than they do because he can and will do more than they do. The union guys hate him because he pushes them to the absolute limits, which means if your on the clock your doing something constructive for the pay. He too is asked for by large companies, Nissan and Toyota being two of them. Because he makes things happen. Sorry fellas, I have seen it from both sides, working as a supervisor in a union shop and seeing the fruits of my brothers work or liason with the union shops. They just are not worth what you guys are making them out to be. So as to the original OP and the news that big contracts will go to unions and not a big construction company that is not union, not good for America.
  18. My post was bigger so I win:) No, seriously, how was any of the "market force" or "if you have a problem you can seek regress with an attorney or current govt agency" postulates misguided? Did I err in stating that cheaper yet better made foreign car makers are kicking our butts? That government agencies, who have their own unions have no incentive to help you faster because they get paid just the same no matter what? I'll go a couple further. When the economy was setting the stage for layoffs at a TN truck maker, workers compensation claims quadrupled! Fact. Why, because their union did not take care of them in those conditions. So they faked injuries to get more money during the layoff periods. Same company dealt with a strike. Management and Scabs were followed home and harrassed. Nails and tacks were thrown in their driveways to hinder them coming to work. There were even some assaults. Lay down some facts, and "because I'm making more money as a union guy than I did on the market" won't work. We already know that, what we want to know is why is this a good thing for us?
  19. ......or, you were paid what the market would bear for what you did. If you know your worth more, there will be a job out there, non union job mind you that pays you for that value. You have stated very successfully why unions don't work. The wages are generally more than the market would normally pay. The contractors or employers are strong armed into using those union workers (strikes and threats to scabs) so you get what GM, Ford and Chrysler are dealing with. Paying folks to do a minimum skill job way more than the market can bear and then suffering the crash when folks can't or won't pay what it costs for them to sell it at a profit. Foreign companies with plants here in the US will not tolerate unions, and for good reason. They have seen what the unions have done to them in Europe and its cheaper to move it here or Mexico. So you perpetuate the union ideal because its good for you. Well when Obama promotes legislation to make everyone protected by unions where will you be? The folks who are now not union are then your brothers and making the same amount of money as you are, which will then force inflation across the markets. The fast food workers union, the restaurant waiters union, the convenience store cashiers union....protected against poor wages and threat of injury will then make equivalent money to you. If it costs a dollar to buy the materials to make a, oh lets say a handgrip for a 1911 to keep it relevant, but the folks on the line force the employer to pay them 18 bucks an hour to insert the metal backing and run a screw in the side so they have to sell them for 25 to make a profit after marketing and shipping, and no one buys them because they are 9.99 from the other non union supplier, who is to blame? Well it was obviously mis managed right? It must have been unsafe, there were three carpal tunnel law suits filed! If your in the demand you say you are at your shop, retain a lawyer and go into business for yourself! You can charge less than the union guys and still make a better profit for yourself. That's if you can manage the regulations, handle the taxes, protect your self from false litigation after hriing a lazy ass that wants to go on disability, etc etc. Its simple logic and finances. I'll throw the statement that "I won't change your mind either" but time will tell which was the truer statement.
  20. No need for unions anymore with a lawyer out there waiting for any case, real or not to level against your employer. Add to that the multiplicity of goverment regulation from everything to the chemicals (white out and window washer) in the office to the method you post the name of your company on the side of a truck and I would say your pretty well protected. Have you tried NOT being in the union?
  21. Oh Snap! So instead of bonuses for early completion, and contracts that are competitive, they can take those dollars and put them in an account to settle the grievances. Add to that the average contract will go twice as long now that the incentive to get it done is gone. Nice job.
  22. The shell holders are different. They are the same size but the don't have the lug in the bottom to slide into your press. They are flat and slip into the hand primer to align your case with the piston that will push the primer in. This part isn't rocket science at all so if you want to save a few bucks get the Lee. The Hornady is nice as well. You can get the small box of all shell holders for the primer tool pretty cheap too.
  23. I have been the king of what most term "over kill". Have hunted and shot deer with my old .340 Wby Mag and it didn't tear the deer up. It did kill them hard though! LOL. I had no problem using it. That being said. Yes, the 30-378 is to much gun for Tennessee white tail. I still shoot my little brothers every time he lets me. WITH the brake on. As much for my shoulders health as our hearing! The sonics off that thing are amazing!
  24. He will probably be schooling me in the art of marksmanship in the next few years as my eyes start to fail me. This deer also took some time to allow the shot. We cheated a bit as I had him take a single pole shooting stick with us but it saved the day. The deer came out behind us, like all deer do, and knew we were there but could not definitely locate us. He turned and went back in the thicket and stomped a bit trying to get us to reveal our hide (burlap camo around the bottom of three trees with us in the middle). The boy held still and waited as we couldn't talk. The deer circled to our right in the thicket and came back out about 75 yards away. The boy said "Daddy can I shoot?". I whispered back "if you have a clear shot at the boiler room go ahead, just let me cover my right ear! I heard a small click as he pulled the hammer back slowly then "BOOM". The deer kicked up once, took about two steps and toppled! His first deer, 15 minutes after sunup, and he never had a chance to get cold! Little sucker thinks deer hunting is easy now! The rifle is a Rossi combo purchased from Academy and is a sweet shooting little thing for the money! Was close to zero out of the box and he is deadly with it out to 100 yards! Your daughter probably loves her rifle the way he does. I have told him he is to give it to one of his kids in the future.
  25. Weatherby 30-378 to challenge your manhood! I have shot it, with a muzzle brake on it and it still let me know who it was! Without the brake, YOU break. -7.2 inches drop at 400 yards. 3500 feet per second. .30 caliber and ballistics similar to the .270 only with more mass hitting at the end of the run. Check the ballistics here. http://www.weatherby.com/product/ammunition/ballistic?ammo1=.30-378+Wby.&ammo2=.270+Wby.&compare=Compare&compare=Compare
