Mrs. Winger is sleeping soundly next to me but I'm sure she appreciates still being able to distract the fellas. I will tell her tomorrow that she holds a nice stock and then duck and run.

Let the cleansing begin. Follow up Clint with some John Wayne (Green Berets would be great!) and a bottle or two of cheap beer. You'll be alright.

awesome stop action! Thanks for sharing

I got to work enough intestinal fortitude to get me and two boys (one teenager) and roll out of the sack on my day off to go hike up and down a ridge in the rain! This one is gonna test me. Since no one, including the boys, wanted to go all the way to Wayne Co. this weekend with the large rain chances, we are hangin out here in Sumner Co. Bronker. I expect reports from all of us that get out there in it.

Aww Geez Paul, you had to go and ruin a great run of posts with this one. I was more "pokeing" at Nsnate02 with his definition of religion. Trying to bring back some levity to this downward spiral. It just fit my whacked sense of humor when he said "taking care of widows and orphans, period" and I immediately saw the annointed one and his SSN angels.

So Social Security is a religion?

Those stocks will clean up really nice too! I stripped one down to the wood last summer and then stained it. Came out looking very nice (to me) as opposed to the "orange" looking varnish that was on it originally. I have two M91's from 1942. The arsenal stamps came out very clear in the wood (note the triangle for Izhevsk arsenal)

Gotta love the Mosin! Let us know how she shoots. Shouldn't matter on the rifling, its the shock wave that kills anything down range anyway:D

Many of you know I just sold a Remy Police Magnum as I saw it's limitations in the opposite light of Kahrman's view. It was great as a home defense weapon but that was about it. With the cylinder bore, and 3 inch shell maximum, it could not be utilized as a hunting weapon effectively. I got a Stoeger P-350 12 gauge from Magiccarpetrides and have loved this thing. It's a Benelli Nova look alike but it shoots better than the Nova I had and is a much tighter machine in tolerances. No rattle vs what sounded like a mariachi band with the Nova and it's forearm. Came in the black polymer stock with pistol grip, skeet choke, improved cylinder, modified, full and an XFT Turkey choke that I patterned last week. It's throwing a 8 inch pattern at 30 yards! Well over a 100 pellets in that circle and it shoots the 3.5 inch magnums! I have some lookouts headed to Joe's to see if Stoeger has or will have a slug barrel that I can swap out for HD mode. If not, I can always use the current barrel with 00 or 000 buckshot and make it work. They also have the camo versions for Turkey hunting. I'll just wrap it in camo tape for the season.

Sunday night is looking like the best date to start. I'll firm that up with you tomorrow night. Got baseball practice till 930 Thur night and will be hunting Saturday. Will also give me a chance to finalize the clean up that I never get around to finishing so you won't think I'm as disorganized as I am.

Just make sure its all tight so your not re-zeroing every trip to the range and let her get used to the same thing every time. If you do see it loosening up I would move on to another base and better quality rings. You don't want to have to loctite the screws going into the rifle just to make it steady! If she likes it and she appears to be shooting well with it, keep it as is. You can upgrade later.
-
Mine too has said she wants to get more into shooting and says she will be taking the HCP course this summer with a girl friend of hers. I'm going to take someone else's advise and drop her off and leave her to the instructors!

Heck, pick one! What do you have on it now? Bushnell, Simmons, BSA all make scopes designated for the 22 and they are cheap! I think if you go up a notch to their medium price point hunting scopes you'll be surprised at how good they will perform. If you can swing a Burris or Leupold then you have a quality set of glass. Just make sure you get a base and a set of rings that will match the 10/22. Go here http://www.midwayusa.com/BROWSE/BrowseProducts.aspx?pageNum=1&tabId=10&categoryId=14131&categoryString=657***8705***11686***14105*** Pick out what type of mount base you like, Weaver or Picatinny bases, I would suggest matte black for the batch. Get your rings that match the color and the size of your scope, generally 1 inch. G&L will probably have it all locally and a smith that can level and bore sight it for you. If you want to do it yourself, I can walk through it with you some night and I have a laser bore sight you can use anytime.

Obama wants you to pledge loyalty to him tomorrow

Geez man, check your meds, they are really distorting your thinking. So you feel that full medical assistance should be supplied to everyone eh? Who is going to pay for it? If we make it so everyone can have it (proven fact now, pay attention here) then no one will have much of it. Prices for medical care would be no where near what they are now if it weren't for insurance and those that abuse the system. Market forces would determine the prices that the public could afford. That gets thrown out when "my insurance will pay" for that trip to the emergency room to have a head cold checked out. When it get's universal, the best and the brightest will not seek that profession because who wants to run up several hundred K in school loans, spend 7-10 years in school and interning only to be offered a govt pay scale! Look, it isn't easy to accept but it's what we have now because it was allowed from the beginning. Now we have to live with insurance and it still won't protect everyone because somewhere, someone has to get something for the service! Everyone has to stop sticking their hands out, the government is not supposed to provide anything but defense and infrastructure (highways and dams, etc). The rest is supposed to be on the states and they can't afford it with that "give it to me" mentality we have created. It's been sown, time to reap! -
She should be deadly accurate with that stock rifle and a decent scope out to 100 yards. The 10/22 is one of the best off the shelve plinking rifles out there for the money. If you upgrade that scope a bit and make sure it's tight and protect the rig from bumps and shocks, she should be able to make that 4 inch target just one big hole. Good choice on first rifle. My boys burn about a box of 500 everytime they get a chance to shoot the thing. Now you need to learn to strip it down to that big bolt and clean all of it. They do get dirty.

I would say the poor judgment displayed would warrant it's revocation.

Where is it stated in the Constitution, Bible or bubble gum wrapper that anyone is entitled to basic health care? Insurance is the 2nd biggest Ponzi scam since Social Security. All you are owed from birth is the right to pursue anything and everything you wish to. The rest is foisted upon us by folks who think a large number of folks wanting something makes it right. Thus a true democracy is always doomed to fail as the wanters take from the providers. Our representative republic will just take longer unless we vote it back to ourselves. -
I was funning both of ya. A snake handling thread would be real popular I'm sure! This one sure hasn't strayed much. LOL

Did you just tell him to go start a snake handling thread?

If your in Lebanon you should stop by and see Sam at Complete Gun Shop on Highway 109 in Gallatin. He did my Savage 30-06 with great results. I can't recall what the rifle blueing cost as I had some trigger work done as well. Complete Gun Shop (615) 206-0075 308 S Water Ave, Gallatin, TN 37066

I'm looking for a interchangable slug barrel and ghost ring sights to fit the Stoeger P 350. That's pretty much it. I sent Joe a PM as well with my details. All I need to know is do they have them and then get them to Joe's so I can buy them. I would really appreciate you cornering the Benelli rep for me JHatmaker. Where do I send the fish sandwich?

FINALLY Got It (Remington 870 Marine Magnum)

Yep, that is purty! How did I miss this thread yesterday? -
Well, we are back already. I took him to what I figured would be a sweet spot as I had seen turkey roost just above this spot and we could hear them fly down. Nothing! Heard one gobble about 4 times on a hill across the valley to our north and then he shut up. Walked the entire ridge and couldn't get anything to answer so we watched a few squirrels (nice big fox squirrels) and then headed in. Maybe for once the active season will fall in line with regular hunting schedule. That or it's all over already and they are on the nest. Didn't even see any out feeding in the fields where they usually are.
