Questions #1 Is there any cons to a light weight Del Ton kit? Are some metal parts replaced with plastic parts etc? The only con is do you like a lighter upper. Thinner barrel diameter makes the "lightweights" #2 I'm a little confused regarding the mid length rifle kit, and rifle kit. Both have 16 inch barrels. What am I missing? The difference is in the position of the gas port and front sight. The rifle length port is further down the barrel towards the muzzle and thus you need longer hand guards to cover up a longer gas tube area. #3 What is the advantage of a 2 piece handguard over a 1 piece handguard? Don't know the Delton stuff but if you're talking a one piece vs 2 plastic guards, the advantage would be that a two piece should come apart in halfs and thus allow for easier changing. Get the standard guards now as you're going to want to upgrade to rails at some point. #4 Is it worth springing the extra cash for chrome parts? Chrome lined barrels have longer wear but with some say is a minor drop off in accuracy. 50/50 to me. Your call. #5 What kind of equipment goes on the gas block rails? I'm trying to decide if I want it or not. If its a one rail with only the top having rails, the only thing you want there is a set of backup front sites. If it has sides or even rails on all four, you can put a light or laser. Don't put anything that will torque the barrel like a forward grip or bipod on the gas block. Get a free floating set of handguards for that stuff. #6 What kind of tools will I need to throw the del ton kit together? Lower as well? Set of brass drift pins and hammer, screwdriver for stock if standard, I use an exacto or other thin blade to hold the detent in when putting the front pivot pin into the lower, some good thick tape to put around areas you'll tap roll pins into, link to AR15's how to put it all together. For the upper, if you have a 6 position stock coming, you'll want an AR15 armorers wrench. Oh, almost forgot, a long shaft hex head driver to put the pistol grip on! Thanks for taking the time to help me out. It's much appreciated.

Most definitely! The last time I shot little bro's Weatherby it was bench rested and the thing just about jumped completely out of it! Free hand so the body absorbs the shock is the way to go.
-
really? My 12 year old shot my 91/30 Sunday afternoon in expectation of a certain M44 any time now. No issues other than keeping that thing that is as tall as he is steady on the aim! The wife, who is 5 foot nothing shot it as well. Only issue here was a palm bruise from slamming that bolt back into battery. The more I shoot them, the more I like them and the less they push. I also pulled the trigger twice on a Weatherby Mark V 30-378 and you know when you shoot that thing! He really needs to put that muzzle brake back on that thing!

Police find man fighting with himself Officers dispatched to what they thought was a domestic disturbance on Monday night discovered a lone Murfreesboro man fighting with himself, authorities said. Though the original call reported a verbal argument between a man and a politician, police said they found the 30ish-year-old man arguing with himself, changing the pitch of his voice as he acted out each part. The man was also destroying the inside of the apartment, officers said. He broke the front window as officers tried to calm him down and coax him out of the home, according to authorities. A crisis team decided the man was a danger to himself and obtained a mental health pick up order, police said. The Murfreesboro SWAT team responded and took the subject into custody. -
Nope, shot UMC yellow box for plinking and Hornady Personal Defense JHPs.

You're lucky. "A" shot a bunch of .223 yesterday through his big deer rifle! Lucky for you I had Wolf and WWB for him and didn't touch the traveling Glad Bags.

Democrats, Obama, and the 2nd amendment...

Your asking us to open our minds and see the wisdom of O yet admit that nothing we have posted (with facts not feeling mind you) is worthy of your review. So you have made up your mind, and want to step into this forum and throw down the "hear ye, hear ye, open your hearts and minds" and won't act in the exact manner you demand of others. Nice. To top it off with the racist card sums up that you have read the leftist playbook and now can run it without cue cards. Who "veiled" anything about anyone? I certainly have posted nothing racist. I wouldn't care if a blue eyed Aryan or a Asian or an African American espoused the views that Obama AND Biden do. I wouldn't like their policy. Period. When he cuts back taxes, throws open fair market competition policy, quits bailing out failing ANYTHING, stops this insane card check crap and finishes up Iraq and Afghanistan, then I'll say he has done something. As that would be a polar opposite of how he ran and what has stated his agenda is, I guess I'm kinda locked in as the loyal opposition. -
Dang, already over. Go Preds

Looks like a move to agreement here. So can we bang on Obama now that you have stated its more about inept government on which we all seem to agree? Since you have changed your stance there, can we now hoard some ammo? -
Tragedy? Let it go? Are you posting about the cop that ran the red light, ran over a street sign and then tried to get a citizen to hit that side of his cruiser by pulling into the oncoming traffic lane? You in the right thread Paul? I don't get it?
-
This guy had to be drunk, drugged or mentally whacked! Since he looked like he was methodically trying to cover it up, I don't think it's mental. Looks like he intentionally tried to get hit by a citizen to cover up the wrecked area of his cruiser. He is a menace to society and needs to be fired! 80 hours?? He's lucky he's not going to jail. I saw reckless endangerment over and over again! He must have one heck of a union there to save his arse on this one.

Are you reading or listening to anything folks are posting? It did NOT start under Bush. Clinton and his feel good, everybody should be equal and own a home bunch and was continued, after it was noted these were very high risk loans WITH Obama's support as a U S Senator. Folks, little known secret here, but money will always flow to those who understand the free market systems and are willing to work for it. NOW, before you say, lots of money went to Fannie and Freddie and now GM and Chrysler....remember I said "those who understand". You cannot pour money down a mismanaged system. I work for a company that provides logistics support for both Chrysler and GM. Am I scared, you bet ya. What I see right now is total life support being put on a terminal cancer patient. He's going to die no matter what they do. The folks who will control these companies don't manage well nor understand value. The government oversight and Union participation in management will be the final nail in these two giants. (and yes, both were poorly managed to get where they are as well. What should have happened was the share holders should have fired senior managment, brought in tough financial minded folks and told the Unions to pound sand and clean house in all other areas from R&D to marketing. If it doesn't sell, don't keep making it. Period) We speak to our employees at least once a quarter and more often to the management team about our P&L. When we announce that our contract, or business unit made x amount of dollars, and folks the numbers are in 7 figures per month, most of them bow up and state they should be making lots more money. They can't see beyond the facts other than the word "millions". What they fail to see is their salaries and benefits as well as operating costs turn those "millions" into thousands when you get to the profit side of the sheet! So managment is again keeping the man down. It's back to education. Class warfare, fear tactics and those unwilling to really understand human nature and basic rights. Dems claim this but are so wrong as to be laughable. Kill a baby but dont' kill a murderer, tax the rich because its unfair to work hard and make money but give it the crackhead every month so he can get high, party and then hook up, (back to kill a baby again), destroy the social structure as we now know it because it will increase our voting block and keep us in power! At least until the democracy implodes as everybody votes to pay themselves and do no work! Classic liberal/dem BS. I do not fault any millionare or billionare for making their money.....they are the ones who will employe the thousands that will make less but will generally find their "niche" in the world if they are willing to work. As I get older and more experienced, I should rise in the company a little based on that knowledge but not souly because I was there. If I continue to educate myself and can perform at higher levels then I should continue up. Typed way more than I wanted, sorry its so long. Hey, there is a House marathon on the tube.... -
Woot! Good laugh on that one!
