  1. There's your problem! You keep hunting from the ground! Drop 80 bucks on a ladder stand and half your problems are solved and you'll see more deer too!
  2. Well if I'm living with you, then the Socom is defacto living with you too! Does that work? I just love that hill your on. Your neighbors answering the shooting by shooting their own is pretty neat too.
  3. No, no NO I made the mistake of parting with SOCOM (we call it Sockem here) once! Never again. You may shoot it, clean it, look at it, maybe even borrow it for a hunt weekend but it will only be sold when it comes to me eating and making a house payment. If it's that serious, all other guns will be gone already and I'll probably want to move in with you anyway. Now the rest, yeah, we need to see what we want next anyway. Would like a old Enfield 303 Brit if I can find one. Something to share time and space with the Mosin's.
  4. Look around on Craig's list and the free traders post type listings in your area. I have already decided I'll never buy a new muzzle loader and probably not a bow as people can never sell a used one for anywhere near what they paid. When they move up to a Matthew's or Knight, you can move in and get their nice servicable PSE or Frontier bow or muzzle loader. Why pay full price right? There might even be a sasquatch bow out there for someone.
  5. Ouch! and I wouldn't recommend looking at crossbows then. From what I have seen, unless your ready to spend 800 plus, they don't shoot worth a crud.
  6. You'll get your trigger time, no doubt. I need to go ahead and load a batch up with Lil Gun and see how that works until I can find some H110. McFlurry or Bronker can weigh in though and tell you she is a sweet ride.
  7. Who ever hears when Bass Pro has that summer sale they always have post it up! I usually get something cheap from them. A few years back they had those basic ladder stands on sale for 79 bucks so I grabbed two of those, a little better Gorilla tree stand and the now shot out and dry rotted deer target. This year I will be looking for another deer target. The only other thing on my list is maybe a Summit Titan climbing stand so I can give my old Python to one of the boys.
  8. You need to shut down all gun purchases except those dedicated to the parts for the Socom! We will go bother McFlurry (Jcochrane88) and Bronker and borrow their guns to get our fixes on other weapons. You can shoot the XD anytime. I want to wear it out so I can spend the dough on getting it refinished and get a new set of springs in it. And don't worry about those targets. I left them because your shooting tomorrow and will find a need. Make em fire starting material.
  9. You'll have that thing wore plum out by the seasons start!!
  10. And there you were 10 feet from one today! I should have offered but if you haven't figured me out yet, my standing rule for people I have over or go to see is "If you don't know your welcome, your not"! You should have grabbed that thing up and shot it! I don't think you would have noticed the extra barrel length but still...you would have another experience point under your belt. Pretty good day. Got to shoot, got the parts for my chain saw I have neglected to get, got some cases deprimed and in the tumbler, CLEANED the guns....not fun but always necessary. Got to see a so so race and now watching Whale Wars and rooting for the japanese whaling fleet! These guys are dork terrorists, the worst sort!
  11. I usually pick up the PSE in early August for some dusk shooting and checking all the string/wire and pulleys. This year may be problematic as my target is pretty much shot so I need to go buy a new fake deer.
  12. Yup, mine is clean again too! Don't want to shoot it again for at least 12 hours.
  13. So is this the "pre 4th" celebration 56? If so, I might be able to add to the confusion tomorrow evening! If'in you want me to that is. (I got some tracer left)
  14. Patch came out dark again but that is not unusual from an older gun and one that was shot the previous week! Nothing unusual. You appear to have taken very good care of her. The really neat thing was when I cleaned my big bore AR it was almost not dirty at all. All the shots were reloads using H110 and that is some of the cleanest burning powder I have ever seen. The bolt face wiped clean! Kroil is the bomb and a locally made in Nashville. Support them, we want them around for a long time! Don't want to drift to far away from Mosin's so I'm shutting up now. Got to get ready for the 5th ball game of the week since Saturday. I love baseball but we ain't getting paid for this!
  15. Once you get your first AR done then you can do all sorts of things. You can get close to your 50 even in the AR platform! It's called the 458 SOCOM. No its not the honking big .50 cal like from the machine gun but does shoot half inch diameter bullets weighing from 86 grains up to 600 and all from a stock lower and magazine. Just get the upper with the altered bolt from Marty Ter Weeme or Rock River Arms.
  16. That Don Hume was right at home in Wranglers!!!
  17. I had the boy run another patch through his (mike's old) M44 day before yesterday. Does that add to the hype? Using Kroil as a cleaning agent in the barrels, I find that its best to come back in a day or three and patch it again then use the CLP or Remoil. The Kroil keeps loosening old crud but when it is not a long term protectant.
  18. Now go talk to some of the NFA dealers and start saving up big bucks to get some of the neat things like silencers and AOW's (any other weapons). If you got the big bucks, you can get the fully's. Big bucks.....big!
  19. Probably best not to even ask. In fact, stop thinking about it. Now! That's better, the long haired guy on the "I can't believe it's not butter" commercial is a safer thing to think of......carry on.
  20. Do you guys know how many electrons were harmed in the making of this thread!! Shame shame shame
  21. 29 bucks TBI Background Checks
  22. AR lowers
  23. go to lightfighter.com and search the group buy thread. go to AR15.com in the Tennessee Hometown threads and up at the top is the Win a machine gun thread. He also was going to run a raffle here for the friends of the NRA for two Class III machine guns but was asked not to by the management. There was some falling out and he subsequently left. I agree, I thought Frank was a upstanding guy when I first met him. Bought a Sabre Defense lower that had the three stars of Tennessee engraved on the magwell. I also got a Remy 870 Police Mag and side saddle which he installed. All were no muss no fuss. When the raffle started I sent in my funds then heard nothing. That was when the issues started on lightfighter and I believe one other website he was a member on. The bottom line was guys paid for engraved lowers and they were not delivered. Allegations were tossed about then about how and where the funds were going. I won't kick more sand on this. He had obligations he didn't meet and folks are out money. Some more than others. That's about it in a nutshell. Anyone trying to get funds from him should attempt to do so through legal channels as personal confrontation would probably backfire.
  24. That is weird looking. Did the rifle cycle funny? I ask as I'm thinking the thing was not locked in battery and when it fired the bolt started back and the primer didn't have the pin or the bolt face to "push" against and pressure just back filled the primer hole.
  25. 56Fordguy knows ALL about that part of the equation. He snagged a 1000 of those last week! That is good to know since I have a large supply of small rifle and much smaller supply of small pistol. I think the surge is about to end though.
