  1. shot the G30
  2. I wish I could take closeups like that when working in tight on something. My eyes won't even focus that good, much less either camera we have. Nice work there! Might want to try the old bullets you got from me at max OAL and slight crimp near the band and see if you can improve the performance of those puppies. We still need to get some FMJ or JHP and see if it likes them any differently as well.
  3. Clutepc, I don't know which end of Nashville you live in but what redbarron said is so so true. If you buy off the shelve at Walmart or Dicks and don't get a lucky fit, you won't like the results and the money you saved will be wasted. If you wouldn't mind the drive, Poindexters Bait shop (yes a bait shop) in Gallatin carrys a ton of great bows, PSE up to the high end Hoyt's and the bow smith is top notch. He will measure you up, set you in the right bow, tune it to you and cut and roll up your arrows. Your arrows have to be cut to match the length of your draw for precision. Where ever you go, go NOW. In a couple of weeks you will be in the back log of guys turning their stuff in for tune ups and restringing and such. They won't have as much time to spend with you as they will now.
  4. Like most things, there is cheap, there is mid range very servicable and there is overpriced and name driven. Muzzy is probably the best known, affordable and serviceable out there. They are the standard. That said, look around at Cabela's and Bass Pro and think about what you want to spend and what you want to get out of them. I don't like the expandables just because you have to do something besides knock and shoot. That's why I went with the Montecs. Just screw em on the arrow and shoot. No replacing blades (they cut ya!), no setting the expanders. But you need to decide and you may need to buy a few sets before you settle on a brand or type. Your bow and your ability will also help you decide. if you can't hit the practice target you may need to move around in brand. And yes....you do need to waste some broadheads shooting them. You need to know where they are going to hit. Then switch back to field tips.
  5. Just like bullets, the broadhead weighs something and the more weight the more force but the drawback is it slows the arrow down. Generally 100 to 125 grains are the standards now. I use the Montec G5s. They are one piece 3 blade razors but they are not the insert or replaceable kind. You either get good at sharpening them or toss them and buy a new set but you don't worry about blades breaking or falling out. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_48015_450002000_450000000_450002000_450-2-0
  6. Until your sure your going to love bow hunting, PSE is the way to get in it with a great shooter at low cost. PSE Bruin here and I can call my shot on a deer target at anything 25 yards in.
  7. Thanks Motasyco but I'll try to save the last nine for actual non whore posts!!! (cows are behind the barn sneaking a smoke....you just thought it was chocolate milk)
  8. Uh, I don't know. Can't see the count when I'm typing this....like 10 or 11 I think. Thanks for asking:D
  9. that was dropped to 289 today Canyn by order of the President and the Congressional Franking commission.
  10. I'm a few away from 2000 posts but refuse to post just to get there! I will not post unless I have a serious thought or in answer to a question! So, any questions?
  11. This thread is word count friendly....please post as much as you wish unlike those nazi threads where three is the only number allowed.
  12. run dog run!
  13. tasty venison steak!
  14. deer season soon!
  15. moooooooooooooaaaahhhhhhhhh
  16. Why do cats stare at the ceiling when nothing is moving or making noise? (don't say ghosts........or clowns)
  17. Already moved on....missed the first 15 or 20 anyway and it looks like big brother without the cute girls in the pool. Sad, because I can watch every re-run of Deadliest Catch but this thing didn't hold my interest 5 minutes. Hey, Cops is on!
  18. Back when I played them and before the cheats got to where it was impossible to play, the Delta Force series. Delta Force Blackhawk Down especially. I like to snipe, what can I say.
  19. I know one disadvantage right off the bat. You are limited to carrying what you are qualified on as a carry weapon. Learned that when a moon bat called Ralph Briscoe on 99.7 this morning and tried to tell him he was carrying illegally since he was not carrying the weapon he had originally qualified on. Wrong! Several callers fixed this quick. I see no advantages. The special deputy thing smacks of cronyism. I don't think it would protect you much outside the county it was issued in. HCP is the way to go in TN IMO.
  20. LOL, coons love corn!!! My favorite trail cam shot from a few years ago. Looks like the coons are cheering the fight on!
  21. Yeah, PM Bronker....he's the stickiest!
  22. The fraying feathers probably slowed it down a smidge but did more of what the vanes are for which is to slow the back end of the arrow down so it's always trailing the front. The little bit of spin they put on the arrow also helps stabilize it as well but has anyone ever seen those arrows they use to shoot at birds? Looks like a fuzz ball on the end. You could probably get the same effect by just putting flares on the knock end if you got a super good alignment of the arrow to the rest. If you ever see the slow motion footage of an arrow in flight, you'll see the thing bends like jello the first several feet. The back end slowing it down keeps it from tumbling. Neat huh!
  23. Flitz makes a polisher/renewer that is awesome. I also mix just a cup or so of walnut media in with my corn cob to give it that extra bite. 56fordguy saw some recent work from the winger tumbler and only thing to say was............oh.....shiny!
