  1. Midway screwed up and more than likely they will take care of you for their error.

I'm not even sure it's Midway at fault. The mags have no markings on them except "45 Auto" and the C Products logo, but the sealed bags they came in are labeled as:

"Magazine with Base Pad 1911 Government, Commander 45 ACP"

Looks to me like C Products can't label their products right.

  2. Thanks for the clarification on the sizes Garufa.

...to the OP you must have bought officer size magazines

They may be Officer/Defender sized mags, but the web site / paperwork / packaging for the mags all say "1911 Government / Commander" so I just wanted to clarify my reasoning.

I'll send these back and get come Chips as Garufa recommended. Thanks for the heads up on the C Products mags.

  3. Hi,

    I recently purchased a Springfield Armory 1911 A1 Mil Spec (Model# PB9108L).

I wanted to get some extra mags for it so I went to Midway USA and bought these C Products mags: C Products Magazine with Base Pad 1911 Government, Commander 45 ACP 7-Round Steel Blue - MidwayUSA

Received them today and tried one out, and it didn't fit! :D

As I understand it this is a Government size 1911 w. 5" barrel, so I was expecting the above mag to be fine and just have the base pad sticking out of the bottom of the grip, but the mag is shorter than the factory mags and doesn't even lock into place.

What am I missing here with regards to sizing?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

    Gareth

  4. I'm a British citizen who has lived in the US for 15+ years. All you need to do to see where the US is heading is take a look at the UK and the EU. It's insane what has been done over there with regards to the EU and the Euro, but they pulled it off, and it'll be pulled off here too.

The North American Union is just a stepping stone, just like the EU was. I'm sure you can guess where the stepping stones lead...

  5. From the Crossbreed web site FAQ:

    Q2.

Should I get a holster made of horsehide?

    Answer:

Horsehide is a denser and tighter grained flesh than cowhide. This results in it being more moisture resistant. Customers in very humid climates or who tend to sweat heavily find this to be a useful option as horsehide tolerates dampness better. Horsehide is only available in natural as it's moisture resistance can also cause it to not take dye well. Additionally, the natural finish is very attractive on Horsehide.

Horsehide is a limited option as it is not always available, during times when it is not available, the option will be removed from the selections. In other words, if you see it, you can order it.

I have the cowhide version, but I don't wear it next to my skin, so the moisture issue is a non-issue for me.
  6. The laptop HD is SATA. I plug it into the SATA cable on my PC, I can actually feel the laptop HD doing something, but not sure what to do from there.

The laptop HD has two sections for connecting cables, the SATA cables on my PC only connect to one of the two sections. But I feel it running, so that should be connected properly, correct?

There should be 2 cables, the wider is the power, the narrower the data. You'll need to hook up both cables, and then boot your PC.

You can go to: Control Panel -> Administritive Tools -> Computer Management, then look under the "Disk Management" branch to see if the OS sees the drive, but the partitions should appear in Windows Explorer if the drive can be seen.

  7. If it is a newer laptop with a SATA hard drive, and you have SATA ports in your PC, then yes you can. Simply plug in the power and a SATA cable.

If it is an older IDE hard drive, then you will need an adapter of some kind.

  8. I can't press the mag release button on my XD9 SC with one hand, it's just too hard to press in, both with my thumb or my forefinger. I thought maybe I was just a weakling, but I'll have to try it without a fully loaded mag.

As for a holster, I purchased a Crossbreed Supertuck. It wasn't cheap, but it's very comfortable with good retention.

  9. Good Afternoon,

I've been looking at buying/building my first AR15 rifle. I understand the basic principles of the build, the options, etc, but have some questions about the actual quality of the parts themselves.

Obviously buying everything in kit form and assembling it myself would probably be the cheapest option, certainly the most fun, and there will always be low end, top end, and everything in between, quality parts, but:

What kinds of issues have you guys seen with regards to lower quality vs decent quality vs higher quality parts?

Is there really much difference between the quality of different manufacturers parts?

Are there certain parts manufacturers to avoid due to quality and/or price issues?

CMMG has their bargain bin rifles for about $600, and based on my research most of the reviews have been good:

Is there a downside to starting with something like this as the foundation for a build?

Is there a better complete rifle to use as the foundation for exploring the bank account draining world of AR15s?

Thanks for any advice you guys can give, and take care.

    Gareth

  10. What do you suggest?

I went with a PS3, mainly due to the blue-ray option, but between TVersity and PS3 Media Server I can stream all my music, movies, pictures to the TV in the living room with minimum effort. Now that they have Netflix streaming for the PS3 it's even better.

Using it to play games (Modern Warfare 2 is amazing!) is pretty sweet too! :)

  11. He's an admin, not a participant in the forums OR the guy who gives us a place to come bitch about the way he runs HIS website.

8,470 posts from David kind of indicate that he is a participant, and not just an administrator.

Obviously, that is too much for some people. I'm going to go hug a tree and cry into my soy latte now.

Trees make good firewood, and soy anything tastes like ass. So if you think I'm some sort of bleeding heart type, you're so very wrong.

The guy didn't insult David personally. He said (very poorly) that he didn't agree with the policy in place regarding the for sale forums. I don't agree with the guy, but I think resorting to name calling and threatening to not assist him if he encounters technical issues is rather sad.
