  1. I have never made a purchase that large on ebay.  I think my highest is about $500, but if I am not mistaken, if you use paypal, between ebay and paypal, you are basically insured on your purchase.  If you get stiffed, I'm almost positive your money is refunded.  Look into it further, but I am reasonably confident that is the case.   My wife made an ill advised smaller purchase from some seller in China or some crap, and she never received her item.  It took a couple of weeks, but she did get a full refund from ebay.
  2. I like blondes, about 60-63" tall, with soccer player legs, and medium size chest...
  3. Remember also, in many cases of self defense, the defendant does not actually have to use deadly force, but simply demonstrating you are capable is enough persuasion to alter the intent of a would be criminal.  I have exposed my weapon on two occasions, and although I was prepared to do so, I was very thankful that I did not have to actually use it.  I firmly believe that if you produce a weapon, you should be ready to use it, but I do not believe that you have to use it if you draw it.   In my opinion, to demonstrate this force sooner rather than later, after the altercation has elevated to a level where you would actually have to use it, is probably better for all involved.  I do not loose sleep over justified shootings; however, I am grateful that I have never been in that situation.  Please don't confuse this logic as an argument for open carry, and Lord help us not to open that can of worms, again.  I do believe that the element of surprise can work to your advantage, and you should always project an aura of confidence and control.  Confidence in your ability and an understanding that you will be in control of the situation.    Just for the record, I am a young, healthy 230 lb male, but I feel no obligation to try to fight someone before I show them that I am prepared to shoot their ass if they are intent on harming me or my companions
  4. Yes, that test is with both eyes open to determine the dominant eye.  The OP has already established that.  I said it does not matter if you keep one eye closed.  Do the same test with your dominant eye closed, and tell me to which eye it migrates.  I bet I know...
  5. I am sure this will be desputed, but eye dominance does not matter as long as you keep one eye closed.  My advise would be to make her use her right eye and keep the left one closed.  If you do this enough, you can change which eye is dominant; just the same as you can teach yourself to be left handed.  Given the availability of right handed guns verses left handed guns, I would most certainly not teach her to shoot left handed, rather teach her to shoot right eyed.  Same principle, just different parts of the body.
  6. That was great.  I spent several years working in a small shop building custom cabinets and furniture which was difficult work even with all the great modern tools, and that build would be impressive even with the modern tools I used.
  7. I think it is funny, or perhaps disparaging, that people rate the most trustworthy an actor; a person who's job is to deceive you into thinking they are something they aren't
  8. I see no reason why he should be buried here.  Tell his parents to pay the expense to ship his deadass back to bumfuhk or we'll burn him and send him back in ash form, free of charge.
  9. I have mixed emotions about all this.  I completely understand that it seems rediculous that one person could deem you mentally unfit; however, having limited exposure in the mental health world, I can also tell you, without a doubt, there are people in this world who are absolutely not competent enough to own a gun.  I know the laws vary by state, but my experience with legal psych stuff was in regards to involuntarily committing patients to an inpatient facility.  In the same way, this is also a process of removing a persons rights.  Through this process, you are able to hold a person against their will as long as the health professional deems necesary.  In the state where I was involved in this process, it was not the decision of one professional or one lawman that could accomplish this.  There were at least two mental health evaluations from two different professionals, a couple of attorneys, and a judge.  I never saw these decisions taken lightly, and in most cases, these rulings were for temporary circumstances.  I see no indication that a decision regarding a persons constitutional right, which would effect such rights for the rest of their life, would be taken any less serious than one that would be temporary.    However, on the other hand, I feel this would be similar to felons.  As we all know, felons have been stripped of their second amendment rights, but it certainly does not seem too difficult for a felon to get a gun.  There are people in this world who, I believe, are truly evil.  They have evil intent, and they always will.  You can call them mentally ill or felons or whatever, but the simple fact of it is that until you find a way to effectively deal with such people in society, passing a law that makes an illegal act extra illegal will have no affect, zero.
  10. Let this be a lesson to all those who think the government should be responsible for providing healthcare to the public.  That opens the door to just about anything that they can twist into being detrimental to your or anyone else's health.  This does not even scratch the surface of things that can be mandated or regulated if you think the government should be responsible for your health.    Just another argument in support of the statement, "Big government equals less freedom."  I personally do not find this surprising from the state that thinks it's both acceptable and  curative to regulate the size of the soft drink a person can buy.
  11. When it says, "exited the victim," it does not say where he was shot.  Probably went through his arm or something without loosing much velocity.  I've seen a number of shootings, and none of them were with hollow points or any self defense round.  I imagine this to be same in this case; probably a "flesh wound" with fmj bullet.
  12. Different strokes...   I guess I'm just not a purist, but this does not bother me.  It's not something I would ever do, simply because I don't see the point in it, but if someone else wants to do it, then so be it.
  13.   I'm not interested in reigniting that arguement, just trying to point out that, just because the deceased may not talk, there is often no shortage of those who wish to speak out or yell on their behalf.
  14.   Zimmerman might disagree.  It seems people come out of the wordwork to defend the deceased.  Response might not be so profound if you didn't have all the family of the perp crying about how you slain their golden boy, honor student, helping old ladies cross the road son.
  15. He was "cleaning" it, because it just sounds bad to say, "I was practicing my quick draw."
  16. I like the slogan, "Always in stock..."   Wonder why? :squint:
  17. Voted for Obama...                       twice
  18. Where's the reverend?!?!?  Oh wait, nevermind, that only works the other way around...
  19. I thought his movies sucked anyway.  I find this about as stupid as most of all his other "comedy"
  20. Nice ride.  I want one bobbed.   http://www.boyceequipment.com/#!m35a2-bobbed-deuce/c254i
  21. I was in the Outpost a few weeks ago, and probably would have bought a pink one for my wife had anyone in there given me the time of day.  I have never had any luck in there.  The prices are high, and the staff are dicks.  I will tolerate one or the other in a store, but having to deal with them and pay more is not a recipe for my business.  From the looks of it, they are doing just fine anyway, so I'm sure they won't miss my money.    In the meantime, I'm still keeping my eye out for a Lilac LCP for my wife.
  22. For me, the deciding factor would be that you intend for it to be your SHTF long gun.  It is my opinion, that if you are looking for a SHTF gun, you should use one that is very common and would be relatively easy to acquire parts for in that situation.  Considering the run on black guns of late and the fact that they are issued for the military and many LEOs, an AR has to be one of the most common weapon platforms, and would therefore be easier to acquire parts, mags, and ammo in a SHTF time.  I know the mini shoots the same round, but if you are looking for parts or mags in a time when they can't be ordered, how many people are you going to bump into also running around with a mini.    As far as the issues with ARs, I've only had a couple, but I have never had any problems with them that weren't my fault.  Even at that, it was just a trigger that I screwed up while trying to make it better.  I have nothing against minis, and I think they are good guns.  However, just based on my opinions for the availability of parts in the crisis time, I bought an AR when considering this myself.
  23. I have the chest type, and I really like it.  I did not think I would like it, but I bought because I got a good deal on it.  Now, I am thankful that I got it instead of the type that sit on the rails.  It makes it easier to reach into it, it does not block the rear window at all, it holds more than the other type, and it does not scratch up your bed rails.  If you are worried about bed space, the only thing that other are good for are allowing a bunch of trash and crap to blow up under them.  No matter which you go with, you will loose bed space.  However, what you need to realize is that the space you will save by not having a chest will still be essentially lost, so it would be better used if incorperated into your box.  Lastly, no matter what you get, you'll forever wish it held more stuff.
  24. I don't even play chess, nor do I have the time to learn right now.  However, I really want one, if for nothing more than to set on my coffee table.
