I think the most powerful message for me was about the power this will give the government. This country was founded in the desire to get out from under a large, overbearing government, and that is exactly what we have put ourselves back into. I am truly saddened by the state of our country, and I have no idea what we can do about it other than just hang out until the next elections. I just hope things are not pushed past the point of no return before then.

I got this link in an email today. Regardless of your opinions on health care reform, I think this is worthy of the few minutes it takes to watch it. This guy addresses the premise of how many of us feel right now. http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=G44NCvNDLfc

I bought a couple of youth model 20ga a while back for this. sometimes you can run across those pretty cheap. The ones I bought were 870s. Being youth models, they were obviously shorter with an 18.5 inch barrel. I think that is a good way to start.

I think there is one called Phonezoo. My girlfriend uses it, but I do not really know much about it.

What to carry when I can't carry?

Sorta on a side note, but you may want to join the facebook group for concealed carry on campus. This has been getting a fair amount of attention recently. I think the group is "Campuscarry.com" I am not too much into the facebook stuff, but I saw this group on the news and joined. It has like 47,000 members now. As far a being safe, the best defense I found to use around school was to look alert and try to have multiple people with me. Sounds gooby, but I never had any trouble. I was at UTK. -
I have one for a Ruger P345. When I got it, it was very tight as you describe it. I cut one of the rivots out and put a spacer between the two halves, and it was much improved. As far as drawing it, you have to practice it for sure, otherwise, you will pull the gun and holster off your belt together. I guess that is good or bad. I do not typically carry it in that holster, but it does have its useful times.

Post pics of your Concealed Carry setup

I think the idea is to not undo your pants, but just stick your hand down your pants and get it. I do not think it will work too well for those of us that have a small case of that dunlapped disease. -
My Joker co-worker got a surprise today

Should have shot him. That will keep him from talking. Just kidding of course. I think I would have a serious conversation with him about keeping his mouth shut. Knowing you have a gun in your pocket, I think he will take you serious. -
I think the reference to the last sentence is because it kinda sounds like a preface to another witch hunt. I sincerely believe that if the government views this as a serious problem, there will be preemptive action toward suspected anti-government individuals. Although this person was not shot but hanged, in the eyes of some government officials, one characteristic of anit-government individuals is owning/buying guns. This could get dirty. Very sad situation.

I have a neighbour that loves the view it seem's.

Careful with the bamboo. You have to contain it to keep it from growing onto his property or else he will have a case against you. That stuff spreads like wildfire. -
If the dude running the pawn shop is that damn smart about that stuff, shouldn't he be teaching a self deffense class or something. There is a reason why he is still in the pawn shop instead of getting paid for his knowledge.

It is single action. I have a Ruger MKIII that I love to shoot, so I am excited to mess around with this as well. I was hoping to shoot it this afternoon, but I got stuck in a hay field all afternoon. I will have to wait till tomorow. I hate having a gun that I want to shoot, but not being able to find the time.

Right, that is what I was thinking. Thank you for the reply.

My girlfriend's father gave me a FIE Mod Tex .22 revolver. It says it is a .22 LR. Can I shoot shorts and longs in this along with LR? I was going to do it, but I figured I should got a confirmation first. Thanks.

Sissy's Song by Alan Jackson Simple Man by Lynard Skynard. Always make me think about how much I love my Mama.

If you already have two, keep this one unfired. It will make something nice to hand down to your children or grandchildren.

THIS is how the Star Spangled Banner should be sung...

That was incredible. It gave me chills also. I am glad to see the song sung with respect instead of someone trying ton"show out" with it. -
Official "What are you carrying today?" Thread

When dress allows, I carry a Ruger KP345 in an IWB. It conceals really well with the shirt untucked. If I have to tuck the shirt with no jacket, it is usually a NAA .22 mag mini revolver in the front pocket. If I am looking for something a little more power, it is a S&W chiefs special .38 in an Uncle Mike's pocket holster. -
If you need inspiration to quit, come hang out with my father and I. He smoked for over 40 years. We used to be active together outside; hunting, shooting, sporting events, etc. Now all of that is gone, he as quit smoking now, but only because he drags oxygen around every where with him. From my eyes, I guess what I am trying to tell you, if you do not have the strength to do it for yourself, do it for your kid or kids. I am sure there is nothing else in the world you love more than your child, and trust me as a child of a smoker, smoking will only take away from that short, special amount of time you will have to spend with them. I would give anything, anything at all if my dad would have just tried a little harder to quit when he was younger. I know it is hard. I just recently quit chewing. My biggest advice, and I think someone else already said it, you must change your habbits of normal life. If you are used to smoking after dinner, you have to replace that action with something else. Perhaps, devote that little time to playing with your daughter, or instead of going to smoke, go brush your teeth. It can be just some stupid little small thing as long as you use it as a replacement. I hope that helps. Good luck with this. I sincerely hope, for your health and for your child, that you are able to stick this out. I promise you that one day when you are 80, you will not look back one your life and say, "Damn, I wish I had just smoked a couple more packs." but if you are laying in your bed with oxygen pumping through your nose when you are 60, you will look back and say, "If only I had quit sooner."

I will second that with the casio phone. That is what I have through verizon and I love it. I went from a razor to it, and would do it again. I have dropped on concrete, dirt, oil, water, everything. It has had a rough life and is still going strong. My cousin has the same phone, and he accidently ran over his with his 2500 chevrolet truck. The phone still worked. By the way, if you want to get one, get it online at verizon. You can keep your same number, and they are much cheaper online. I was going to get one in the store, and they wanted me to sign a new contract and pay $150. I got online and got one for free with no new contract just because i had been with them so long without a contract. either way, look online for sure. it is really not as hard as it may seem.

This might explain why I was the only white guy in McDonalds the other day. I guess I will be going to Sonic more.

I have not been following this crime lately, but it is THE reason I got my permit. The girl's body was found less than a mile from my house when I lived in Knoxville. What really struck me about this crime is that this couple was just like me and my girlfriend at the time. When something strikes that close to home, it really makes an impact on people. What angers me about this situation is that so many people in TN have not even heard about this horrific crime. How does the media not just jump on this like they would if the roles were reversed? I am not racist. I believe in equality for all, but I cannot help but to think that this would have taken a very different path if it were a bunch of white men killing a young black couple. Just my two cents, and it is probably not even worth that.

Amazing. Look at the you tube comments. I love how people get in arguements over stuff that is almost tangential.
