Knoxville News Sentinel: Early Settlers Knew Gun Control Needed
dats82 replied to a topic in General Chat
I would be curious to know what kind of car Harry drives. You will not find a car on the market today that will not exceed the speed limit on the interstate. Cars continue to kill more people then guns do, yet you will not hear anyone calling for there regulation. I just do not understand it all. -
I personally tend to think the 17 hmr is overrated. I had one for a while, but I did not care for it. They are accurate and shoot well, but I do not see the niche they fill. I could not really hunt with it because it just tears stuff up. I can dispose of skunks or whatever out to about 75-100 yrds with a .22. Past that distance, you could use a .17 hmr, but I would just use a .223. These are just my thoughts, but I know a bunch of people really like them. To each his own I reckon.

I got this in an email today and did not see it posted anywhere. I thought I would share it with you. This was printed in a Russian newspaper in England I believe. American Capitalism Gone With A Whimper It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American descent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people. True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years... The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was.. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists. Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters. First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather than the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas than the drama in DC that directly affects their lives.. They care more for their "right" to choke down a McDonalds burger or a Burger King burger than for their constitutional rights. Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our "democracy". Pride blind the foolish. Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different "branches and denominations" were for the most part little more than Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top protestant mega preachers were more than happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the "winning" side of one pseudo Marxist politician or another.. Their flocks may complain, but when explained that they would be on the "winning" side, their flocks were ever so quick to reject Christ in hopes for earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America .. The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive.. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America 's short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more than another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Weimar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe. These past two weeks have been the most breath taking of all. First came the announcement of a planned redesign of the American Byzantine tax system, by the very thieves who used it to bankroll their thefts, losses, and swindles of hundreds of billions of dollars. These make our Russian oligarchs look little more than ordinary street thugs, in comparison. Yes, the Americans have beat our own thieves in the shear volumes. Should we congratulate them? These men, of course, are not an elected panel but made up of appointees picked from the very financial oligarchs and their henchmen who are now gorging themselves on trillions of American dollars, in one bailout after another. They are also usurping the rights, duties, and powers of the American congress (parliament). Again, congress has put up little more than a whimper to their masters. Then came Barack Obama's command that GM's (General Motors) president step down from leadership of his company. That is correct, dear reader, in the land of "pure" free markets, the American president now has the power, the self-given power, to fire CEOs and we can assume other employees of private companies, at will. Come hither, go dither, the centurion commands his minions. So it should be no surprise, that the American president has followed this up with a "bold" move of declaring that he and another group of unelected, chosen stooges will now redesign the entire automotive industry and will even be the guarantee of automobile policies. I am sure that if given the chance, they would happily try and redesign it for the whole of the world, too. Prime Minister Putin, less than two months ago, warned Obama and UK's Blair, not to follow the path to Marxism, it only leads to disaster. Apparently, even though we suffered 70 years of this Western sponsored horror show, we know nothing, as foolish, drunken Russians, so let our "wise" Anglo-Saxon fools find out the folly of their own pride. Again, the American public has taken this with barely a whimper...but a "free man" whimper. So, should it be any surprise to discover that the Democratically controlled Congress of America is working on passing a new regulation that would give the American Treasury department the power to set "fair" maximum salaries, evaluate performance, and control how private companies give out pay raises and bonuses? Senator Barney Frank, a social pervert is not only not a looked down upon life choice, in his Marxist enlightenment, has led this effort.. He stresses that this only affects companies that receive government monies, but it is retroactive and taken to a logical extreme, this would include any company or industry that has ever received a tax break or incentive. The Russian owners of American companies and industries should look thoughtfully at this and the option of closing their facilities down and fleeing the land of the Red as fast as possible.. In other words, divest while there is still value left. The proud American will go down into his slavery without a fight, beating his chest, and proclaiming to the world, how free he really is.. The world will only snicker. Stanislav MishinA© 1999-2009. What Snopes has to say. Click here: snopes.com: American Capitalism Gone with a Whimper http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/pravda.asp

I really need a job if anyone in East TN needs work done.

I had a descently successful run at mowing yards. I started by working for people in my church, and I also printed some flyers and took to the realty companies in my area. Tell them you are interested in mowing yards for vacant houses or any other properties they have. That worked pretty well, but it is esential to do a good job and make things look nice. The best advertising you can have is to show people you do a good job. Way to go, getting out there and trying to help. You already have much respect from me. -
I cannot give you numbers because nobody really knows what the numbers are actually going to be. All the costs will not surface until the bill is fully in effect. I do know, however, that my expected salary will most likely go down. What I can put numbers to is that I am in medical school right now to the tune of about $42k per year for tuition and about $12k per year living expenses. Plus about $15000 from undergrad, and we come up with about $230,000 that I owe before I make the first red cent. People always bitch about how much doctors make, but I can assure you, they very rarely make as much as people think they do. All I know is that I am spending close to 15 years of my life going in dept $230k at about 9% interest rate to come out of school and have the government impose restrictions on how much I can make. If that were not enough, now they are talking about putting higher interest rates on student loans. This does not seem like a very good incentive to have the best and brightest go into medicine. Long term, what does this do to the system? I have not even begun to think about what my insurance situation will be.

Carry one everyday, even as I type, for a Ruger p345. I have an IWB, and while I cannot compare it to the high dollar holsters, I can say that it has served my needs well so far. My only complaint is that I think it needs a little tilt to it rather than the straight up 90 degrees. Overall, I am happy with the holster, and I would not hesitate to buy another one.

Of course, what else is there?

That is awesome. Tell that son-of-a-bitch how it is. You are right, he is not welcome back to our state. I will make that very clear to him if I ever see him around. -
Can you explain that for me? Just kidding, yeah, I would love to knock a couple of his teeth out. I have never met the guy, but he looks like he would enjoy squealing like a pig for the Big O.

Are you saying that the grain is perpedicular to the long axis? If so, the grips will be very fragile. You will have to use much care while working them down. If it all comes out, they should look great. I will be interested to see pics.

The difference is that it will be the government taking it, not just a run of bad luck. It sounds like you have been delt a crappy hand a couple of times in life, but at least it is possible to recover. My family has been there and done that. However, in the future, with government control of finances and imposed tax penalties, you will not be able to recover. The basic ideas of the socialist boil down to that very point. They do not want you to recover; they want you to be dependent on the government for everything.

I do not know what S&H charges would be, but $25 is not a bad price. Yeah you could make one pretty easy if you had the stuff laying around and come out pretty good, but if you had to buy the materials, the time to get the material, the time to make it, paint it, make it nice and smooth, you might do just as well to buy it and never have to get off your butt. Just saying, but yes, I will probably make one too if I have the stuff sitting around.

I bet the guns did not stay on the bed too long after that last pic.

So I guess there is more than one way to skin a cat. The OP does not need to be pigeon holed into thinking he has to shoot a certain way to achieve good results. I was presenting a method that has worked well for me. OP, just take note of several different methods, go to the range, try them out, and just use whatever method feels the most natural and produces the best results for you. Once you get something that works well, practice makes more difference than reading an article about the latest and greatest methods.

Can you elaberate why this is wrong, or what should be done instead? I have had great results with this.

When you raise the gun to shoot, do not just point it at the target and pull the trigger. Shooting a handgun well is all about grip. Somebody told me one time, if you are right handed, when you get a good grip on the gun like in the video above, push forward with your right hand while you pull back with your left hand. This seems to really help me get a good solid stance. Lean into the gun slightly with a stance that is comfortable for you to maintain, and get used to positioning your body such that the natural point of aim is on target. If you try to force the gun onto the target with your muscles, it will never tighten up and you will get tired. Focus on the front sight but see where you want to place the shot, and squeeze it off with the pad of your digit using only the joints of the finger. Get used to doing all this stuff and just practice. If you have a .22 pistol, you might want to use it to get the basics.
