  1. I am out of the state for a little bit, and it looks like I might have a chance to do some bird hunting in Kansas. However, I do not have a shotgun up here. Does anyone know the legalities or cost associated with shipping a firearm to myself across state lines? Thanks for the help.
  2. What in the world brought you to Harrogate? Welcome either way, that is a beautiful area of the state up that way.
  3. Chucktshoes, are you a Miss St fan?
  4. I think what hurts O the most is the in the face of a dismal approval rating, the pounding his party took in the midterms, and the obvious facts that his stimulus and crap have not worked, he still refuses to take any responsibility and admit that he might be doing the wrong things. He thinks he has lost touch with the people. When in fact, it is quite the contrary. The people are very much in touch with what he is doing. They are just smart enough to realize it is wrong; this is something O never expected. If a man is not willing to stand up and take resposibility for his actions, he looses all respect in my book.
  5. Very cool. I want to kill something with a flintlock
  6. I put some of these on my Mark III and really like them. I am not sure if he is wanting nicer as in nice looking wood grips or nicer as in nicer feeling rubber. I have shot some rugers with the thumb rest and some without. I opted for the ones without just because my gun is not really a dedicated target gun, and for plinking around, I personally think a thumb rest is kinda annoying. 7. I have been several times. I went last summer, and I think that was the first time that I was really able to fathom what it was all about. Times previous, I was just happy to be out of school on a field trip or something and did not really think about the significance of what took place there. I think it is a rather somber experience. Glad to hear you are involved in scouts. I am an Eagle scout myself.
  8. Looks like I won't make it out until Thanksgiving day, but I am dieing to get to it. I might have to stick to irons on the trusty old 30-30 as I have not hand time to give any of my scoped rifles their due attention.
  9. There is usually someone around who doesn't mind to hold it for you.
  10. I generally have a shotgun or rifle too, but not so much as a carry for protection weapon. Usually I just have something to shoot coyotes or ground hogs along the way. I have been batting around the idea of having a dedicated protection rifle in my truck, but it seems like if I am in my truck and a gun fight breaks out, I am just gonna put her in D and get the hell out of Dodge.
  11. I know it is a little on the larger size for pocket carry, but I acquired a Bursa 380 thunder a while ago. I have been very happy with the gun, and it is small enough that I am able to pocket carry it. They are easy on the wallet and not hard on the hands to shoot.

I really hope you would not have to practice that much to pass the shooting portion. My lady friend passed without any practice and has fired maybe 100 rds total at various different times prior to taking it. I think you are over thinking this. If you plan to carry the gun, one of the last considerations should be the cost of ammo. I understand needing to practice with your carry gun, but promise you, the last thing you will think about as you are drawing your weapon to defend yourself is the money you have spent on ammo. I am not rich by any means; in fact, I am a broke student. I completely understand a cost issue, but I still carry a .45 or .38. They are not really range guns, but a box of ammo every month or two is sufficient to keep the rust knocked off.
  13. What!?!?!?! Guns and alcohol!!!!!! Sounds like a good time.
  14. I see stuff like this, and it really make me think cops do get their jollies out of writing tickets. I guess if your job is to stop crime, and this is indeed one of the very few times they are actually stopping crime instead of investigating crime, then I can see how it would be fun and fulfilling.
  15. Sounds like you might could have a bbq, Fried Green Tomatoes style
  16. Mama, what's vacation mean?
  17. Remember these just have to hit the torso. I cannot remember the distances, but I do remember shooting 48 rds for some reason.
  18. Sounds like your father might need a trip to the vet for the same reason as the dog needs. That sucks man. I always hate hearing stories about families not getting along.
  19. From the sound of it, you must have never seen the sign.
  20. Ya'll are damn crazy! Those things scare the hell out of me. I did see one one night when I was driving back to undergrad at Miss St. As the lightning would strike, I would look in the sky to see if one was around. I kept seeing this thing that, for some reason at the time, I thought it was a big spot light like they have a car dealers and stuff sometimes. There were cars blown off in the ditch and everything. I did not realize what I was seeing until I got back to my dorm. I guess the good Lord was looking out for me, because He knew I would freak out otherwise.
  21. Don't ask, don't tell applies to more than just gays. You should never volunteer any info like that, and depending on who asks, a little white lie never hurt nobody.
  22. Best of luck to you and Bella. My sister recently had to deal with the same thing with her dog. As I told her, I think it is important to remember the best thing we can do for an animal in our care is to not be selfish with them. I hope the treatments work for Bella, but as I told my sister, "If all you can do is keep her comfortable, do that as long as you can. However, do not be selfish of your time with Zoe, and do what is right for her when the time comes." I often think this is one area that vet med has a luxury over human med.
  23. Beings I have never heard of anyone getting robbed or assaulted by pepper spray, and I think a bat or a knife are lethal weapons, I do not see the point of making it a point to carry non-lethal options. That is unless you plan to go somewhere that you cannot carry. I generally try to shy away from those places.
  24. If he is young enough, does he still have to take it?
