When you have one transfered or if I bought one from a dealer online like Bud's, do you have to pay taxes on it or just a transfer fee from a local dealer?

Sounds like you have a very cool wife

I have flushed up some in Bedford county, and I must say, that is the most scared I have ever been in the woods. It only lasts a split second, but talk about making your heart skip a little.

Please get your baby out of the china cabinet. That is not an appropriate means of child care. jk, beautiful animal there

Well, that was an interesting video, but what came up from the link does not seem related to what you are talking about.

One in the chamber and ready to go. I talked with a guy recently about this, and he does not carry with one in the chamber. I asked what would happen if somehow he only had one hand to work the weapon. He was carrying a sig and told me that he got attacked by a dog one day and had to rack it with his mouth. I am not sure this is entirely possible, but if it were, you would think that would have taught him something. Apparently it didn't, because he still carries with an empty chamber. I have always heard smart people learn from their mistakes, but a real smart person learns from others mistakes. Which group would you like to be in?

To save a little money, hit up construction sites and such for scrap wood. They usually have a scrap pile, especially if they are building concrete forms. Another thing you might want to look into is using truck bed liners as your roof and sides. Most of the spray-in places will give you the old liners for free. Then you just cut them to the desired size and attach them the same as wood. these will last much longer the osb or plywood. I have also used old pallets for wood too. As far as where to build it, try finding a tree that has large branches lower in the tree and build off that.

Beings you just had the tranny rebuilt, I would start at the tranny. The linkage might have come loose from the tranny. I have seen that happen a couple times on various trucks. I hope it is something simple for you.

As I read through this thread, this was my first thought. Good luck to you sir.

I have used the cheap ones at Wal-mart with good results. Although, by the time you throw in tax and such, that Barska with free shipping might be cheaper.

I do not mean to be a Glock basher, and I really could careless one way or the other. However, I have never found one that I thought was aesthetically pleasing, but if you like it, then rock on.

I want to know what the hell this guy does that he has the time and money for all this crap. I know he represents himself, but all this research and time he puts into this has to cost him something.

You said your budget will not allow an SBR ar project. If you are on a budget, I would find something better to spend my $200 tax stamp on than to cut four inches off a shotgun barrel. I guess I just completely fail to understand the logic in that. I understand wanting a short gun and all that good stuff, but if money is an issue, it seems like that money spend on a stamp is gaining diminishing returns worse than about any other tactical item for a HD weapon. I am definitely a fan of the suppressor idea for an inside gun.

Congrats! You have been bitten by the rifle bug. It is amazing the fun that can be had from a little rimfire rifle.

Anesthesiologist. They put you to sleep, do spinal injections, and nerve blocks and such. She should call them and talk with them for sure. I know a bunch of people think docs can be harsh, but most of the ones I have been around are fairly reasonable if you are up front and honest with them.

Duck Season approaches and the boat is ready,..

That is interesting. Can you just like float a river or something and shoot them? This seems like it would be more fun than sitting in a blind. -
opinions between kershaw zing or leek
dats82 replied to laktrash's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
I have no experience with a zing, but I do have a leek and like it. For EDC, I carry a chive. From day to day, I generally have little need for a blade over 2", but if you do, then I think the leek would be good for what you pay for them. -
I witnessed an appalling level of gun safety ignorance today...

I was on a school bus one time from Tullahoma to Dayton TN. On the way back, we ran out of gas and literally coasted off the interstate into a gas station. I was asking the driver if the gauge was screwy or what, and his response was, "No, we had a little less than half a tank when we got there, so I figured we had enough to get back." I thought WTF, you have LESS than a half a tank when you get there, and you think there is enough to make it back!?!?!?

I have a 20ga 870 youth model that doubles as an HD gun and my lady friend's gun for busting some clays. If I were going to make it a dedicated HD gun, I would put a mag extension and a light and go with it. I like that it is not only short in the barrel but also in the shoulder stock. Either way, full size or not, I am a fan of the 870, but don't take anyone's word on it. Put your hands on some before deciding on one.

My mother is notorious for running her car until the gas light comes on and then says she has forty more miles. A few years ago, I told she should be careful driving her old car because as it gets older, things quit working properly, like the gas light. She laughed it off. Well, about a week later, she calls and says her car has quit. I ask her a few diagnostic questions, and it sounds like the classic out of gas story. I bring her some gas, and sure enough, she ran out of gas because the gas light quit working.

Airport screening, going wayyyy too far.
dats82 replied to K191145's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Have you priced Amtrak rides? I just got curious after your posting to see how it would compare to flying. I frequently fly between Nashville and Kansas City for about $80. Amtrak only comes to Memphis and Newbern in TN, so I check from Kansas City to Birmingham. It quoted a price of about $240 and a travel time of 52 hrs. I always wondered why they constantly lost money; I think I understand now. -

My problem with it all is that I cannot see how it actually prevents much of anything. As far as those scanners go, they "randomly" select people to go through the scanner or be patted down. I had to go through one of those whole body scanners, and it did not matter to me. While I was getting radiated, 15 other people just walked throught the metal detector. What I think is such a joke about it is that I am as white as you can get. I have blond hair, blue eyes, wearing jeans, and cowboy boots. I am not being racist, but just look at the most recent attempts on security and give me a description of those people. I do not match that description. If it were such that everyone went through the scanners, then perhaps it would make a difference. Untill we either (1) accept that profiling is an efficient means to preventing crime or (2) make such that every single passenger is subject to the same security measures, I do not see how we are appreciably more secure than we ever were. -
Yeah, I thought about buying another one, but right now is not the best time to be gun shopping for me financially. I was trying to decide if I should buy one and sell it when I was done with it, or if it is worth the cost and hassle of shipping to get one of mine out here.
