  1. I went through this a few months ago. I am not old, but I do spend a ton of time studying. I went to the dr, got glasses, and all of a sudden it was like all my guns had new sights on them. I first noticed it when the cheap scope on my 10/22 looked blurry, but just thought it was because it was cheap. Then I noticed I could not see powerpoints in class. Now, with new glasses, they are both nice and crisp.
  2. I just watched the video you posted, and seems that the video in the op is evidence enough that all those steps are not required. I guess if my gun required all that, then I might whine. However, I can think of at least three other mark pistols that I have messed, and none of them required me to use a hammer either.
  3. I am not as up on this issue as I should be, but if your state goes to constitutional carry, how does that affect the reprocity agreements. I guess what I am really asking is if TN goes this direction, do we loose the ability to carry in states that do not have constitutional carry?
  4. No, I am not kidding. The first time I decided to do it, I read the owners manual step-by-step, and there were no problems. It seems like it has loosened up since that first attempt, but I have yet to ever had to use a mallet or any other tool for that matter. Maybe my hands are just more powerful than all you other pansies, I don't know. I'm just messing with you, but honestly, if I count the steps to strip it verses most all of my other guns, I doubt that it would be any more.
  5. My mark iii is not a 22/45, but I have never had any problems stripping it. Everyone always makes a big deal about it, but I have never found it any more difficult than any other weapon I have.

    Got nailed

I got busted this morning. I live in a railroad town, and trains are always stopping in the middle of town changing tracks and what not. This morning, I was approaching the tracks and the gates came down. I stopped, and a single locamotive came down the track and stopped about 100' from the crossing. I waited for a couple minutes, looked both ways, went around the gates, and crossed the track. This seems dangerous, but you can clearly see in both directions. It is a very common thing for people to do this in town; however, the copper in the other side of the tracks did not think it was acceptable. I pulled over, gave him all the stuff, and waited. He comes back and presents me with a $145 ticket for disregarding railroad signs. Needless to say, I am a bit pissed about it. I have seen LEOs in town do the very samething. I guess this is just part of serving and protecting.
  7. Wow, that is one sexy gun. Nice pics too
  8. I think in a forum setting as this, lowballers seem a little more disrespectful. I have been known to put in lowball offers on some stuff with people I have absolutely no connection with, but I would not do it here. As I said, I think it is disrespectful amongst a group of people who basically consider each other friends. Good luck with your sales.
  9. If it has a 3" lift, it probably has closer to a 35 on it. My buddy has one with a 2" budget lift and 35s, and it looks right. Truth be known about it, you do not buy a Jeep for fuel milage or handling, you buy one because it is a Jeep. I have had a few jeeps and done a lot of work on them. For most people, they are not a practical vehicle. Compared to the other suv options to drive your family around and make you want to get out and use your four wheel drive in the snow, the Jeep is actually a fairly poor option. With that being said, I would love to have another Jeep one day down the road. Basically, I think it boils down to this, you can try to justify buying a Jeep, but in the end, you buy it because it is a Jeep. Keep in mind... J ust E mpty E very P ocket If I have one (and I don't at the moment), they are almost a worse addiction than guns.
  10. I think the whole deal is a disgrace, but at least they have made a slight shuffle of foot in the right direction. The biggest thing that suprised me was that there were no stores in DC. The only way to purchase a handgun was through that one dude charging $125 for a transfer!! That made me do a double take.
  11. I shoot pretty much everything with both eyes open unless I have a decently long shot with a rifle, say like over 150 yrds. Keeping both eyes open seems to help me to be able focus on the sights and target or back and forth quicker than with just one eye open. I think that may be a lay-over from when I first started shooting which was primarily with shotguns. I have only been shooting pistols much in the past several years, and I just went with what was more comfortable for me. Luckly, it works out pretty well for me. However, my main focus with a pistol is to put them on target and not necessarily in the most accurate manner. I think that is more realistic if you were to ever have to use your weapon in a defense situation. You will not have time to worry about the perfect sight picture, and you should have both eyes open to be more aware of your surroundings.
  12. I work in health care, so I get one every year. I have had the flu once while I was in undergrad, and I did not get vaccinated that year. There are a ton of rumors about vaccinations and such; however, most of them are founded on psuedoscience if anything at all. With this said, if you do get the shot, you should do so early in the season, and understand that the shot does not stop you from getting the flu. If the shot is given at least two weeks prior to exposure, it should lessen the severity and speed your recovery.
  13. I was living in Knoxville when the Christain/Newsom murders took place, and my house was less than a mile from the house where they held her. I realized that it could have just as easliy had been me and my girlfriend at the time. I had always planned to get my permit, but it was just one of those things that got put on the back burner. That event made me put my butt in gear and get it done. I realized that I would find it very hard to live with myself if I were faced with a similar situation, and I had not done everything in my power to protect myself and the ones I love. My heart breaks thinking about those two and the impact this must have had on their family. To this day, I will find myself laying in bed at night thinking about it from time to time.
  14. Damn son, you're a salesman's dream! At least it is a beautiful weapon.
  15. Spend the extra $30-40 for the Ruger, you will not regret it. My 10/22 will be one of the last guns I would ever get rid of if I ever did have to get rid of any.
  16. I am jealous. Very rarely do I want a "movie gun," but after seeing Zombieland, I really wanted a mare's leg.
  17. I think you see a trend here. She does not trust you, and you say you have given her no reason she shouldn't. Either she has some serious issues she needs to deal with, or she is the one who is doing something she shouldn't. I hate this for you. I just got engaged recently myself, and I have tried to think about what I would do in this situation. I do not think I would hit the road yet, but I do think I would make it clear that the relationship will not advance until this issue is resolved. One way or the other, the is something going on that needs to be discovered and needs to be dealt with. In all sincerity, good luck to you sir.
  18. I see another contest brewing
  19. The only shop I have experience with is this Predator Custom Shop I had an old MAB .32 I was tinkering with, and this guy helped me out with an extractor spring. He did not charge me anything and was very friendly.
  20. I really can not tell the difference. Maybe it had been too long since having the original, but eating the crunchy now seems about the same. On a side note, the most fun I ever had with a Cheeto was in high school honors chemistry class when we burn one in pure oxygen to determine the calorie content, You would be amazed at the flame those little turds produce in 100% O2.
  21. I will not buy Remington bulk .22s. I bought one box and had a bunch of problems in all of my .22s. I was going to give them the benefit of the doubt, so I bought another box. Litterally, one out of every ten was a misfire. I called Remington, and their response was rather disappointing. It really made me think they did not care. From that day, I decided I would buy Federals or Winchester, and between the two brands and probably 3000 rds, I have had one misfire. I hope they have improved, but they are still my last choice.
  22. That was a great read. Very well done sir.

    2011 Car

I am really a GM guy, but given the choices, I would have to say the GT. The Nissan is cool, but I love the history behind American muscle. I know it probably does not hold much weight, but there is really nothing to compare to the good throaty sound and tourquey feel of an American V8 when you open it up and let it breath. I say GT because I really think Chrysler products are slipping and have been for some time. Either way you go, it sounds like you are a lucky man. I would not turn down the option of any of them.
  24. My friend took his class at Executive Protection in Tullahoma. I think they are out of business now, but during his class last summer, they told him he could not carry in a bank, state park, or anywhere alcohol was sold (not just consumed, so included would be gas stations, grocery stores, etc.)
