  1. Generally the tort reform that I am most interested in is associated with medicine. In this case, I absolutely believe there should be a cap imposed. I had an orthopedic surgeon explain it to me one day in the context of a carpal tunnel repair. I am sure many of you all have had this procedure, and one of the complications of the procedure is damage to the median nerve which would most likely manifest the same as the symptoms experienced prior to the procedure. The doc I was talking to said his profit off that procedure is about $250-350 depending on the payer. However, if this procedure does not go well, the liability is somewhere around $500,000. What this means is that if you do not want to live with the symptoms and choose to get it fixed, it is only worth about $300 for you to pay someone to fixed it, but if things go wrong, all of a sudden, the same symptoms are worth a half of mill. This does not compute for me. In the case of malpractice, the burden of proof is not beyond a reasonable doubt, it is more likely than not. To people who are uneducated in the subject, it is very easy to show a more likely than not scenario. Tort reform in medicine will have more of an impact on decreasing the expense of medicine than any other policy you could put in place. Sorry if this is too long and off the subject, but maybe it will at least give you something to think about associated with tort reform.
  2. If you watch part one, the shooter always turns automatically toward the CCW. This video would be very different if the element of surprise were actually placed with the one who holds it in a reality. I am not disputing the idea that we can all use more training; that is always true. However, their conclusion that CCW actually kills more people is flawed based on the fact that there is no statistic evidence to evaluate for real encounters where guns were present. This is just more libturd propaganda as far as I am concerned.

    Clip or magazine?

Yeah, I was just stirring the pot. I don't even own a 9mm.

    Clip or magazine?

The follow up shots are so much quicker with a 9mm, so that equates to more rounds on target.

    Clip or magazine?

I often try to explain it to my friends that may not know the difference, but that is not because I really care. It is mainly to educate them so they will know what is going on when someone does get all butt hurt over it.
  6. I have always wanted a Garand, and after looking at the link to Shuff's page, I think I will save my pennies to get one of the mini-g's. I do not know if you have looked at it, or what your budget is, but that guy sells complete .308 rifles. Looks kinda spendy, but it also looks like you get a rather steller rifle.
  7. The cake thing would be effin hilarious if it weren't so damn true to reality!
  8. Keeping something from printing is overrated. My buddy and I were talking about this the other day. I carry a Ruger p345, and he is going to be carrying a S&W MP45. He just took his class, but he is worried about what holster to get to keep something from printing. Very, very few people in the general public will ever make the jump from having a bump in your shirt to you wearing a gun. Especially with the laws in this state, I do not think twice about trying to keep something from printing.
  9. Welcome to TGO and kudos for stepping up to the plate to protect yourself and your children. If I am not mistaken, I think the longest I shot was 15 yrds, but this has been a few years ago. If you can, try to procure a .22 pistol to practice with and even to take your test with if you are nervous about flinching too much. Best of luck with it.
  10. I guess I am not educated enough to understand all this, and I for the life of me cannot figure out how our powers think it is our place to be involved. From what little i do understand, I think this is a huge mistake that will cost the US people in both monetary funds and the blood of our finest. The only thing I keep thinking about is the question posed to BO by Qaddafi, which I paraphrase as what would he (BO) do if armed protestors were threatening his government?
  11. I have a bit of a sweet tooth, so I always enjoyed making green stick cobbler. Find a green stick about 1.5" thick, take the bark off and round the end just a bit, spread a biscuit over the end of it (almost like a condom), roasted over the coals till golden brown, pull the biscuit off the stick, and fill it with your usual suspects for cobbler (peaches, apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, etc.)

    My first baby

Take that silly thing off the trigger
  13. You have to be very careful with the heat. I would be curious to know how many he did burn before it resulted in a good, easy breakfast. I have cooked bacon in a bag and an egg on a stick, but I think I would rather just wash the skillet.
  14. 10/22 carbine? Why can it not be a .22 if it is a carbine?
  15. Taking a chance seems like an unnecessary risk. In the least, I would have some iodine tablets on hand and maybe a bottle of metronidazole or something.
  16. I just wish he was a better shot. Maybe the thugs will learn the error of their ways, but somehow I find that doubtful.
  17. Absolutely, people still drill wells. My fiance's parents are on well water. However, remember that just because it is from a well or a spring does not mean it will be potable. It could be, but if you have been drinking only city water for the past 10 years, you will want to have it tested and consider a filtration or purification system.
  18. We obviously do not know the whole story, but it seems like the white people could have just gone into their house to end the conflict. If that were not an option and I were in this situation, I can tell you that that hood would have ended up a few brothers short of a full step crew.
  19. Taking her shooting and show her your collection. Maybe she will see that it is a safe, fun time. If not, maybe she will at least be in fear for her life and will shut the hell up while she is in your house. Jk about that last part obviously. Good luck trying to argue emotion with logic. I never have been able to have that work out.
  20. Talk about some half-ass animals
  21. I agree. They both look spendy, and I cannot tell what was gained from the switch.
  22. Hey Jack, welcome to TGO. I just want to make sure you know this is Tennessee Gun Owners. Seems like some Texans think that everything with a T means Texas. Just trying to save you a little confusion.

    .22 semiautomatic

I will add as an after thought, Ruger's customer service is excellent. You can call and talk with a real person who knows what you are talking about, and will do their best to resolve whatever issue you are having. Another shooting buddy has a 22/45 that had an ammo issue. I am not sure on the whole story, but it was not a problem with the gun. However, the gun was damaged by the bad ammo. Ruger payed shipping both ways, replaced some springs and the loaded chamber indicator, and had the gun back in less than two weeks for no charge at all.

    .22 semiautomatic

Ruger gets my vote as well. I have a mark lll and love it. I just finished doing some work to my buddy's standard. It is old enough to have a 4 digit SN, and it pretty well looks it. His grandfather gave it to him, but it was not running right. I detail stripped it, cleaned, put a new firing pin, recoil spring, smoothed the hammer, and now it runs like a sewing machine. With a little maintance and care (I stress little), I am pretty sure it will last longer than you. They are not the most tacticool or flashiest thing on the market, but they work with everything. Period.
