  1. It is certainly not the case
  2. I don't know if it is the same commercial, but I saw one the other day that stated they run completely based on revenue derived from stamp sales. Amazing...
  3. What does the weighted bolt do for you?
  4. Where are you in school? I agree that a student should be able to form their own opinions; however, what is disturbing is when you are not allowed to form your own opinion. I cannot remember all the crap classes I have had to take along the way, but I absolutely remember one of the last classes I had at UT. It was a bioethics class taught by a bike riding, hairy legged, hippie chick who would only accept a paper if it parallelled with her ideals. (I did score well in the class, so I am not just ranting about a poor grade.) This is really the problem. I have no problem being open minded and listening objectively to a discussion; however, it is absolutely wrong to force a person into accepting one position or the other. I do believe this problem is as rampant as people say it is in our education system. I think it is trickling down it to the primary schools more and more. I do not remember any specific examples prior to college, but I have experienced similar situations in both state and private institutions on the undergraduate and graduate levels. It seems like everyone wants you to be open minded as long as it does not lead to an opinion and belief that could be construed to be that of a conservative christian.
  5. I am with you man. Trailer lights could make a preacher cuss.
  6. Never sent one in, but never had a gun that I had to send back. I've had to get parts for a Ruger and a Kel-Tec, but I did the work myself. I just called the companies and tole them what I had, and everytime, they just sent me what I needed without any hassle.
  7. I'm an Eagle scout. When I started scouts, my mother said I could not quit until I either turned 18 (at which point, they kick you out) or until I reached Eagle. Turns out, it was not as bad as I thought it was, and I was not in any really hurry to get out. I subsequently nearly took too long, but I did get it done. I was awarded my rank and turned 18 within a month of each other. It was a great experience for me, and I will most certainly encourage my son to participate should I ever have a son.

    Ticks

I have never had much of a problem with ticks for some reason. I could probably count on two hands how many I have pulled off of me. There have been days that I've spent all day in the hay field and not get a one while my buddies would have several. I also have never gotten poison ivy. I guess it a pretty fair trade off for having asthma and terrible seasonal allergies, but fewer ticks and no problems with ivy. As for the question, my grandmother keeps a little sulfur in her shoes for ticks and chiggars. It seems to work well for her. As mentioned earlier, as important as prevention is checking yourself after an outing. The occurance of tick disease resulting from a bite is almost zero if the tick is removed in less than 24 hrs. This is probably the single most important step to prevent tick borne diseases. Also, if you do find a tick that has been missed, you may want to consider seeing your doctor. Some doctors will administer prophylaxis antibiotics for tick bites. This can prevent a full infection. I know it sucks going to the doctor, but it sucks worse to have Lyme dz, Ehrlichiosis, or RMSF.
  9. So you're saying that if someone was following you and you knew them to be armed, you would attack them, being unarmed yourself. This makes no sense. If I am in a neighborhood, where I do not live I might add, and someone starts following me, my first thought is get the hell out; armed or not. If infact this kid was on top of this man beating him, it is rather obvious that he did not try real hard to leave. That coupled with the witness saying he heard Zimmerman calling for help leads me to believe there is something more than just this kid is on his way home minding his own business. But regardless, who gives a damn what I think? The fact of it is that none of us know what happened.
  10. I think they just like the way it tickles their balls
  11. My thought was that anyone who would actually use it for a bottle opener is probably not going to do well in a SHTF scenario.
  12. If it is not associated with a school and it is not a commercial vehicle, I do not know of any reason why you couldn't. I am in no way a lawyer, but the motto I live my for these type situations is, "Carry quietly, and carry concealed." Regardless of the situation, the more people you talk to about carrying, the more attention is drawn to you. It is my opinion that attention when carrying is very much undesired. I am sure there will be some to disagree. By the way, if I remember correctly, by TN state law, if you use a gun in defense and are in violation of firearms laws, you will not be charged with given violation during justified use your weapon.
  13. Could this legally be construed as a violation of the 4th Amendment? I am in no a kwik trainee or anything, but this seems a little illegal for an officer to just jerk your door open and a seize your belongs when there is no threat or immediate danger. In reality, especially concerning this case, a dangerous situation was actually created by the officer by seizing your weapon. I know what seems reasonable to me in regards to this situation, but I would be curious for a more qualitfied legal opinion.
  14. It is not that I have a list of things that I carry all the time that requires and extra bag, but I do constantly find myself having to carry various things that I will need in a given day. There are a few things that I carry everyday like the normal knife, wallet, gun, magazine, keys, etc., but there are also other days that I will need my computer, change of clothes, chargers, books, extra provisions, medical supples, etc. For me, it is not so much that I carry a whole list of things everywhere I go, but nearly everyday, I do find myself with more stuff than is comfortable to carry in my hands or pockets. It becomes especially difficult when wearing scrubs and is much easier to just have everything in some time of bag. I know there are others who basically carry a mini-BOB with them all the time, but that is not really the purpose of my extra bag.
  15. My only question about them is how well does it stay in place. The only real difference I can tell that make these not a backpack is that they only have one strap. It you were to have to run or be a little more active than just walking around, would these become more of a hindrance verse the two strap stability of a backpack. I am using a backpack now that I used for books in school, but I am looking for something that I can better organize what I need rather than just having a couple of large book or computer pockets. If that happens to be a murse or backpack, so be it either way.
  16. It looks like an interesting idea; however, my biggest gripe with it is that I believe an integral function of a holster is to cover the trigger. I now there are other holsters out there that do not cover the trigger, but I think that could be a grave mistake to try to conceal a gun with the trigger exposed. I am by no means a safety paranoid type person, and I believe that guns don't just go off with out depressing the trigger. On the other hand, I also know there are more ways to pull a trigger than just with your finger.
  17. Both Lol, don't I wish I could.
  18. I am not sure about Clarksville area, but down around Tullahoma, the best way to fish on the road less travelled is to find a canoe or flat bottom and float a river. It is a little more work than just driving some where, but it is very enjoyable if you have never tried it.
  19. Those walls are pretty special too. In one of the last slow motion shots where you can see the impact, it is amazimg the amount of energy absorbed by the wall. Either way, I'd probably be puckered tight enough that I'd have to be picking out cotton.
  20. In my young life so far, one thing I have noticed is that the people that flap their lips more about making money are more likely to just be full of ####. If this effin' yankee knew a damn thing about making money, he would know the quickest way to make money is to charge other people to tell them how to make money. Think money making books and that kind of crap. This dude reminds me of that damn european guy that was on here a while back. By the way, I'll say it, you're full of #### about your baseball cards. I assume that next you're going to tell us you sold the bubble gum for another $5k and that was just for the used stuff. What a dumbass...
  21. My grandfather had a little gun similar to this, but one of my cousins took it upon himself that Granny did not need this around after Pop died. Gotta love family. Still pisses me off when I think about it.

    Taurus M380

You would rather have one in a .38 +p and so would I. However, we are not the target market for this. They designed this gun for people who are not really ready or able to handle the recoil of the larger caliber. I had bought a .38 for my wife, and she hated it after shooting it only a couple of times. I imagine she would probably rather enjoy this gun.
  23. I do not think it has been mentioned, so I will give it a nod. I love my Winchester model 70. I have had a couple of them in 30-06, and they have been great shooters. The last deer I shot with one was at about 225 yrds, and she dropped like a rock. As far as hunting, unless you are in a bean field in west tn or something, you are most likely not going to have shots much over that. With that said, I will also say that the next rifle I buy will be a Ruger scout rifle in .308. Other than that, the next bolt gun will probably be a model 70 in about a .300 mag or something.
  24. If it were up your...oh nevermind.
