  1. I saw this in the library. The caption says, this image is larger than the actual "weapon," to imply that the magazine is a weapon alone. I read the article, and it was somewhat interesting. I think the title of the article is, "How the Gun Won," with the premise that the "gun" has won against the attempts to control it, i.e. gun control. They talked about why politicians don't want to touch gun control and referenced the Clinton era as the last successful passing of significant legislation, but specifically, what passing that legislation resulted as in the next election. In my opinion, where the article really went wrong is that they blamed the NRA and other gun lobbies for getting the politicians, who voted for it, voted out of office on the next election. They basically blamed the NRA for no more significant gun control. Where I think their argument fails is that they do not make the connection to who actually voted these people out. The who is the majority. For some reason, maybe it's the ostrich approach, these people cannot understand that the majority of the populous either oppose gun control or feel that there are more immediate and more pressing issues at hand. Another interesting piece to the article is that the data presented shows a rather consistant number of mass shootings and victims before, during, and after the assault weapons ban. I cannot remember if they briefly touch on that, but it was certainly glassed over in the interest of the article. There is another article on gun control or violence in the same issue, but I have not read it.
  2. Hmm, not very intelligent; plagiarism that is.
  3. I won about $90 in a slot machine in Tunica. That's about it.
  4. Saw this on Bud's this morning. $189 with free shipping sounds pretty good for NIB with adjustable sights. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/977/products_id/411548771/Rifles/Smith+%26+Wesson+Rifles/M%26P+15+Rifles/HERITAGE+ROUGH+RIDER--BUDS+EXCLUSIVE%21
  5. I never understood the excitement about grip screws. What was wrong with the originals? They look good I suppose, but without you pointing them out, I would have never noticed anything different. On the other hand, those wooden grips are beautiful, and I can appreciate those without mention.
  6. Big South Fork is great. I spent a week there several years ago, and never saw anyone other than those in my group. Great place to get away. I will also second the Savage Gulf, Stone Door, and Franklin State Forrest area. Spent a fair amount of time in these places as a boy scout, then later spent a good bit of time in those areas four wheeling in Jeeps. They are certainly beautiful areas that are not visited much and very under appreciated.
  7. I carry a NAA mini in my pocket more than any other gun. In the summer when I'm at the farm or on the river, I keep the first 2 rds snake shot and the rest hollow points. I have killed a few snakes with it, and it does the job well without being cumbersome. Never checked on pink for it, but I am sure there is the option somewhere. I also have a larger single action 22. My father inlaw gave it to me, but he said he only had about $150 in it. I think it is a FEI brand or something like that. Nothing fancy about it, but is does go bang. Single actions are great fun to shoot. Plenty of options out there, and a rattle can or duracoat is always an option for the pink lover.
  8. Why don't you just try to change the grips on the 238 first. I am not sure what is available, but something as simple as a Hogue slip on grip might make all the difference in the world. Of course, if you're looking for an excuse to buy a new gun, I totally get that too.
  9. My thoughts is that I would not be in too much of a rush to secure your weapon. The closest I ever came to needing my weapon was while I was spending some time in Kansas City. I had to be in a bad area of town, and one night I had a man follow me to my truck after stopping at a gas station. He was begging for money, but he was holding this shoe box rather suspicious like. He did not leave when told to, and even after I had gotten in my truck, he was right at my window with his box. Either way, I don't mean to hash out the details, but all I am saying is that after you have to use your weapon, you need to stay on the scene. If you are in some home boy's territory and you just put a hole in him to drain the stupid out, don't you think there is a good chance some of his buddies would be interested in harming you before the cops arrive? What I'm saying is that I am not going to be disarming myself until I feel certain the area is under control. For me, that is when the cops arrive. When you call 911, you need to give a description of yourself as the defensive shooter, and when the police arrive, follow their commands in regards with what to do with your weapon.

My dad has been looking for a PMR for a night stand gun. He is in poor health and rather weak, so the idea of a full framed gun with 30 rds of 22 mag sounds like an option to consider.
  11. That looks like it would be incredibly uncomfortable to sit down with it. I've got some of the dunlap disease going on, and I can see that driving the muzzle down right where I don't want it when I sit. Maybe it wouldn't but I know for sure that the IWB I use now doesn't. Even if it was not too bad to sit with, I see no way you could ever draw while sitting. I guess my overall assessment of it (not that I'm any expert) is that it seems like another gimmicky holster. I not big on gimmicks, especially at that price.
  12. I guess over two and half years ago, the postings did not matter sense they serve.
  13. If you're married, I would love to hear that conversation with the wife.
  14. I have said it before, I will say it again, and I will stand by it. I will never live to see the day that I am forced to turn in any of my guns, even if they send some one to take them. The opinions I hold regarding the second amendment are stronger than any of our other constitutional rights. I am not a constitutional scholar or anything, but it is my belief that, with the second amendment, we do not need the constitution to guarantee these other rights. If we hold fast to the second amendment, we can guarantee those rights on our own. This may be a little extreme for some, but it certainly was not for our forefathers. For they had the insight to understamd that we did not need guns to gather food, to have recreation, or to even serve as protection from thugs, but rather that our arms may be used to spill the blood of tyrannical leaders. In my opinion, tyranny starts with an unarmed populous. I will not be part of that populous, one way or the other.
  15. I think the holster is a poor design as well, but for what it's worth, I have seen videos of them shooting pistols with the rod still in the barrel to prove it will not cause damage or malfunction. This holster has been discussed here before, and I am not interested in digging up the old thread. However, any holster maker who has to shoot a gun with part of his holster stuck in the barrel seems to be admitting that there is a huge potential for a problem.
  16. Do you have to check an ID prior to a private sale? One of my favorite ridiculous questions while selling something was a few years ago while selling a '72 CJ5 Jeep. It was a toy for me, and I advertised as such. It was in good shape for what it was, but it's a vehicle that is over 30 yrs old. Anyway, this dude called me and started asking what kind of regular maintance it had had, how old the tires were, etc. Then he asked how many miles it had on it. Obviously, I had no clue. Finally, he asked how far he could drive it everyday if he drove it to work and back. That is when I politely told him he should probably look for a different vehicle if that were his purposes
  17. Kind of reminded me of this dude... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4nlcmmt8X0&feature=related
  18. The first thing I thought when I saw this video is, "What kind of DA would sit in line for an hour just for a cup of water?" Now, I see that he did it because he hated his job. What an idiot!
  19. I bought some .22s at Walmart the other day, and the lady ringing me up asks, "Are these for a handgun or rifle?" I said either one, doesn't matter. She insisted that I answer the question. Then when I finally told one or the other (I don't even remember what I told her), she asked for my ID. I really wanted to ask her how my response dictated whether she asked for my ID. That encounter just reminded me that those people do not get paid to think sensibly, so most of them don't.
  20. Rob, have you tried Dunham's in Tullahoma? Last few times I was in there, they had better prices on ammo than anyone, and they were friendly to deal with.
  21. If one is indeed a BB gun, I would not be surprised if part of the "5800 rds" were actually BBs. They seem to have a way exaggerating the magnitude of these situations. Note that the 5800 rds is not pictured, unless I missed it.
  22. That was great. Too bad she couldn't have dropped a couple while that were piled up at the door, but funny to watch, none the less.
  23. Welcome. I have been working for the past several months right down the road in Corinth. It's a nice area.
