I carry a Ruger p345. Most of the time it is IWB at about 4 with a slight cant in a Tagua holster. It is not the best holster in the world, but I keep my pants pulled up to where they should be which lets the gun ride sort of on top of the butt. In my experience and with my body habitus (6' 2" 230), I could probably carry in that location without a holster. It is my opinion that if you carry the gun where it needs to be, a holster really does not have to do too much work. Maybe that is just true for the way I am shaped, but I have carried smaller guns like a j-frame or p11 in the same position just using a cheap Uncle Mike's pocket holster tucked in the waistline. The only time I have problems printing is while sighting down, but again, if I keep my pants where they should be, this is minimal. If I am not carrying IWB, I use a Galco pancake style holster in the same position, but about the only time I do that is if I am going to be driving all day. For some reason, the IWB carry that I do does not jive real well with the seat belt buckle.

I get the shot every year. I will do so this year. People like to throw around all this stuff about getting to flu from the shot or all the bad stuff in the shot, but it all boils down to pretty simple numbers for me. How many people die from the flu shot every year, and how many people die from the flu ever year? I cannot quote numbers, but invariably, more people will die from the flu than die from the shot. Of course if you are a relatively healthy middle-age person, you probably will not die from the flu, just perhaps wish you were dead for a few days. In that regard, if you don't mind being sick or can afford to be down for about a week, then yeah, I would say no point in it (no pun intended). Secondly, people complain about getting the flu from the shot. It is not a live virus; it only contains a antigens that are shared with the virus to ellicit an immune response that will react to the real virus. Therefore, it is impossible to get the flu from the shot. You should have an immune reaction and may feel sick for a day or two after the shot, but you are not actually infected with the virus. If you feel like crap after the shot, you might take solace to the fact that that is an indication the shot is working and you should develop strong immunity. Either way, shot or not, just bear in mind that the flu is not always a benign illness. One of the deadliest, if not the deadliest (not interested in looking up numbers right now), pandemics this world has ever known was caused by a flu virus; the 1918 flu pandemic.

My vote is with the Ruger Mark or 22/45 pistols. I have a Mark III with a Hogue grip that I muck prefer over the few 22/45 I have shot. I am sure grips could be changed on the 22/45 as well to make them more desirable; however, I also like the steel construction of the Mark over the polymer of the 22/45. Eitherway, I think both would be an excellent choice. Also, the sr22 pistol has an optional threaded barrel if you prefer that style pistol. I have an sr22 without a threaded barrel, and it has been a fun and reliable pistol after a few hundred break-in rounds.

I can't believe Ohshoot hasn't chimed in. He seems to be the resident expert on existence of questionable species within the state.

Heavy Rain Damages Obamabots' "Rushmore"

Wait! Where the hell's the black sand? -
Kind of off subject, but you should look to sell your old barn and not just tear it down. There are people that would love to buy the wood out of an old structure like that. Might give some nice funds to go toward the new one.

That is true for most any 22 it would be put on.

Anything to do with horses suffers during recessions. One of the first expenses to cut is luxury spending. Horses are almost exclusively a luxury item. I used to work in the horse business and was on tract to be a large animal vet until I fully came to this realization. Farriers certainly have the potential to do well, but it is hard, hot work that is not always stable. I do not remember exactly what our farrier charged, but I remember thinking that it was not enough that I would be willing to do the job. I think it was about $50 a horse, but that has been a few years. Just think about that, $50 for one horse that by the time you drive to where ever the farm is, set your stuff up, and get the horse done, you have probably burned about 2 hrs. That's 25/hr, but you have to remember the cost of gas and the maintance on your truck. I hope I do not sound like a Debby Downer, but I just want to make sure you understand that it is a physically demanding job that is probably never going to make you rich. It could be an enjoyably profession, and you could do really well if you could get in with some large barns or if you had a majority of clients that could come to you. However, I do not think that is the norm. Most farriers I have known, did not do it full time, and they usually had a shift work job to keep a steady income. Either way, if you continue with it, best of luck.

If I ended up with a threaded 22, I would have to consider getting a can. I do not own a can at this time, but one of some type is on my short list when funds will allow.

Skeet shooting with wife Need advise
dats82 replied to Mykltn's topic in Competitive Shooting Sports
This might be a good option if you roll your own. However, it has been my experience that if you buy 28ga ammo, the lower weight of the gun and the recoil of the store bought ammo, which is usually a premium ammo, is just as bad if not worse than a 20ga with cheap target loads. My wife is similar in size to yours, and she shoots a 20ga youth model 870. A semi-auto would probably be a better option if price is not a limitation as the action of a pump seems to take some work to be proficient at it. There was a 20ga Pardner pump youth model on ###.com for $150 yesterday. That would be a pretty cheap way to get started. -
I have flown SW many times with a gun. I put the gun in a locked, hard-sided case, which for me was usually the factory Ruger plastic case. The ammo can be in the same case, provided the gun is unloaded, or it can just be in an ammo box like you bought it from the store. It does not have to be locked in any special case. The only limit on ammo is the weight restriction which is well within an adequate amount for a protection weapon. The only variance I have encountered is the little card you have to fill out. Some of the counter clerks say it just needs to be in the bag with the gun, others tape it on the locked case, and others made me unlock the case and place it in the locked case with the weapon. They have usually been very pleasant during the checking process. On a side note, my bag did get searched once when there was a weapon, but the TSA guy was way more concerned about a jar of homemade strawberry preserves than he was with the gun. He did the explosive swab test thing on the jar, but did not even bat an eye at the gun. That is the only time my bag has been searched with a weapon in it.

Hiker Mauled By Griz In Alaska's Denali

No sympathy; I am actually a little pissed. This dumbass does something he is not supposed to do, and a bear gets killed for it. -
These gripes are for retail in general. I used to work in a hardware store, and I quickly figured out that I did not have the right attitude for all that. This is why I try to avoid stores. I know some shops get pissy when you order stuff and have them do a transfer, but I just hate having to go to different stores trying to find what I want at a good price. Therefore, I just order it and save the hassle. It might save me a few bucks, but really, I'm just happy that I did not have to go shopping to find it.

If you find yourself in a situation where you really need to exchange fire with someone at 100 and all you have is this little mousegun, you should really reconsider your extra curricular activities.

What a couple of assclowns! The LEO did a splendid job of dealing with these idiots. I, on the other hand, would like to kick them in the nuts. Not for open carry of a ridiculous pistol but rather for obviously trying to make the LEO's job more difficult than it already is. I wish all LEOs could do such a stellar job.

I am a Ruger fan, and judging from your avatar, you are as well. Of the three, the only one I own is the SR9C. All I can say is that I like it. I don't get too worked up over all the safety stuff, I never really understood how all that really mattered. I personally like an external safety on my carry gun unless it is a reasonable double action pull for the first shot. If you practice, it will take you no more time to disengage the safety as you are drawing the gun. I know that is another debate for another thread, so I don't mean to really start anything with all that. All I mean to say is that for the money, the SR9C is hard to beat in my book.

Gun Store Robbery Attemp, -1 robber 2 injured....

+1 for the good guys -
As far as conservatives go, Rhea Co is all about it. From this... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scopes_Trial To this... http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,114467,00.html

Yeah, my family lived down there in the early 90s, and it was crazy expensive then. I have been in Corinth working kind of temporary, so I have not changed my registration. As far as the roads go, they are awful. They were terrible when we lived here before, and they still are. My sister in a civil engineer and says part of the problem is the sandy soil, but I know the soil does not change that much as soon as you hit the state line.
-
Wow, even worse. Yeah, TN is practically free compared to that robbery.
-
It will be much, much cheaper to register your vehicle in TN vs MS. In Coffee Co. at least, the registration has nothing to do with the value of the vehicle. I think it is about $26/yr. I don't know for sure, but I would imagine your paying around $400/yr right now in MS.

This is my thought about all the Chinese characters. Some chick told me hers said "Peace, Love, and Happiness." I asked her if she could read Chinese. She said she couldn't, but that is what the guy at the tattoo shop told her. I just left that alone.
