  1. Spot on. The point should be, there are laws already on the books, and had they been adhered to, then Loughner should not have been running around shooting up the place. Writing more laws will not stop the next crazy person from doing the same thing, if the ones we have now are not going to be enforced, these new laws will only limit liberty for the people who intend to obey them. Existing laws are too often unenforced, case in point, the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and the Mary Winkler situation. She shot her husband, was convicted of a felony in so doing, but was not brought up on the additional weapons charge. If one seeks to make a pubic statement that MIGHT affect the next occurrence, plaster the prosecution of the DA's and Sheriffs who do not follow the law as written across the media. We do not need new laws, we need new people to enforce the ones we have. Just look at what the State of TN Congress (and Governor) did to the 1st Amendment this session, and I do not think they set out to stomp on our Rights with the Internet Posting Bill and the Bumper Sticker Bill, but what are the results? Their actions were taken to make themselves look good in the eyes of certain voters. Two full houses of Legislators collectively still managed to institute unconstitutional edicts that limit freedom. The topic of the thread is additional laws being created by executive fiat to make another politician look good to a certain group of voters, our ability to keep and bear arms the ante for the gamble. What can be accomplished by a single dedicated anti-gun President with no oversight by Congress with an election coming up?
  2. To that I agree a certain extent. But, if one of my grandbabies had been shot by that dirt bag, after the amount of info collected by Dupnik's department, I would want my pound of flesh. He was not some robber out to score for some drugs, he was certifiable nuts, and was known to the the authorities as such.
  3. Allen West | Eric Holder | Operation Fast and Furious | The Daily Caller We need more Representatives and Seantors to make the same demand!
  4. He has done nothing so far, because he does not have the votes in the Congress to do anything. So he will use his Executive Order power to satisfy the Liberal base he has alienated to a large degree. If his actions are too far reaching, there is always the Supreme Court to possibly correct them, but how long will that take? Just like we see with the Health Care, till SCOTUS "gets around to it" the illegal orders will be law, and even if eventually they are set aside, he gets his brownie points for trying, and as you say, getting elected is what he is after. I doubt he is laughing about the gun buying frenzy his election caused, it moved a lot of people who otherwise would not have purchased weapons off their duffs and got them busy, now they are part of a growing number of people that might possible be active with regards to gun Rights issues. I know several folks who purchased weapons that otherwise would not have, that puts them in the "concerned" ranks where they were on the sidelines before.
  5. That is kind of what I was obviously doing a bad job of trying to communicate, giving credence and power to groups like the AMA, or the Federal Government, for what should be local issue resolution is ridiculous. The Federal Gov. is charged with NOT infringing on the ability to keep and bear arms. Documented death threats to multiple people in the hands of LE, and a resulting refusal to act on such information smacks of malpractice (or whatever legal term may apply). He (Loughner) made actual, multiple death threats, that is outside the pale of "think" and moves into "plans". As far as I am concerned Dupnik should be prosecuted as and accessory, as he had knowledge of the instability of the suspect and did nothing to cure the problem. It is patently obvious he was aware of the situation. My entire premise here is that there is no need to get the Feds more involved, especially if Obama's view of firearms ownership is to be used as a benchmark: From the Oct. 21, 2004 Illinois Senate Debate: His positions stated in the IL State Legislative National Political Awareness Test Jul 2, 1998: From the 2008 Democratic debate in Las Vegas Jan 15, 2008: From Promise to Power, by David Mendell, p.250-251 Aug 14, 2007: I am just concerned what might be in the offing of letting the Office or President via Executive Order as has been postulated, especially with this man in charge, with no Congressional oversight, decide what is "common sense". As the issue they are using is the Giffords shooting, I contend that the situation is one that should be dealt with on a local level, and not be used to place further restrictions on the Right to keep and bear arms, when the 2nd Amendment precludes the Federal Government from doing so.
  6. He had been suspended from his school: Ariz. shooting suspect's teacher: I felt he was a 'threat' - On Politics: Covering the US Congress, Governors, and the 2010 Election - USATODAY.com Jared Loughner is a product of Sheriff Dupnik’s office « The Cholla Jumps Man linked to Giffords shooting rampage called 'very disturbed' Seems to me there was plenty of information in the hands of the Sheriff to make a notification on this person that would have kept him from legally purchasing a weapon. As far as outcry over moves to keep unstable persons from enjoying Constitutional gun rights, seems to be the general consensus supported here that our own Leonard, while having done nothing illegal, is a danger that our State has determined should not have a HCP.
  7. The guy that turned me on to the SS media was an Armorer that specialized in Highpower. He is of the opinion that primer residue inside walnut tumbled cases was bad for throats. His thought process was that each round fired put some hardened residue down the bore coming from previous use. He had an older M14 that shot lights out with over 6K downrange. Might be that it is all hokie, but I really like the way the brass looks, and the primer pockets are really clean, and the reloading room has a lot less dust around since I started going this way. I deprime, load the tumbler right before I go to bed, let it run all night out in the reloading room, dump and separate the next morning. I had not picked up a separator, been doing it by hand, pistol and .308/7mm cases are easy, the .243 and smaller are a pain, just ordered the Frankford Arsenal Quick-N-EZ Rotary Media Separator Kit, will see if this cuts the time needed to get the pins out.
  8. Reading the full article, and the tags, which brings up a question: To the point that the Giffords shooting is the driver for this new push to do "Something", why are they not drilling down to the local level? Pima County Sheriff Dupnik's department was confronted with several calls from his college, yet they did nothing. I have seen nothing about holding Dupnik accountable for having fore-knowledge about Loughner's instability. As the Sheriff is the most powerful LE officer in any County, should he be held to account for failing to act on information that his department had in hand?
  9. 43 weapons in Phoenix traffic stop linked to ATF strategy ATF has a watch list out, and 43 weapons that match the numbers show up in AZ, being transported by illegal immigrant drug runners.
  10. Saw a poster the other day, had three .338 loaded rounds and a paper Lincoln on it, the caption was "I could have sworn my rifle was chambered for .338LM, turns out it uses $5.00 bills!"
  11. I did not start cheep shots at you, I was intimating originally that the current President was not from this country, the US, but rather from someplace else, notice I did not say State, I said land. He applied to college here as a resident of Indonesia, where he was basically raised after his Kenyan baby daddy tossed him aside. You evidently have a problem with reading comprehension, land does not equate to State. I also did not insult your State, you insulted mine. And yes, I am a native Tennessean, and damn proud of it. Seems you are the one with the chip on the shoulder. I know some pretty decent redneck hillbillies, a lot of them fired up their chain saws and helped folks that were not their relations clean up after the storms here, just because their neighbors needed help, they may not have had all their teeth, but their hearts are in the right place, so you can stick your insults where the sun don't shine. I know the truth of the matter. Now, it is NOT a crime to carry a loaded gun in your car, if you have a permit. (Is the need for that permit Constitutional, no, and I did not suggest that Tennessee recognized it as such, but it is a long shot better than being denied the ability. In the end, if I need my handgun, I can have it to use, legally which is NOT the case in IL.) If you do have your permit, you can carry your long gun with ammunition in the magazine, your handgun loaded locked and cocked. If you do not have a permit, you can carry the long gun or handgun and ammo in the same compartment, does not have to be locked up, or separated. Big difference than in Illinois. I am pretty sure I get it regarding the President and the trash he has surrounded himself with re firearms issues. Being alive and able to read will handle most of that. Seeing the steps taking place now in his attempt to woo his base, (the Left) back into loving him again is about the only transparent thing he has done, or is doing. His Attorney General is either stupid, a liar or both. His speech in CUERNAVACA, MEXICO Thursday, April 2, 2009 gives proof to that: Welcome to the United States Department of Justice Talk about lame azz, in his under oath testimony before Issa's committee in March, he said he had just recently been made aware of the program, HE made that speech in 2009, so I would assume he knew about his own program that he touted. I am not "running around like a little puppet yelling the sky is falling", I am posting information I consider to be pertinent to the discussion, when I exceed what I should be doing here, I am sure a moderator will tune me up, their job, not yours. And I am worried about my children and grandchildren, and what kind of State and Nation they will have to grow up in. I will continue to do my best to correct the decencies in our State Constitution, I will do proactive things, meet with Legislators, speak to various groups on the things I consider to be important.
  12. There is no comparison in the laws relative to firearms ownership and carrying between Tennessee and Illinois. Municipalities in TN can not ban the possession of firearms. Citizens here do not need to obtain a FOID card to purchase a weapon, nor do they have to completely unload their weapons and case them to transport them in their private vehicles. We have a "Shall Issue" method of obtaining a permit to carry here, can't say the same for Illinois. Do I wish we had "Constitutional Carry" in TN, you bet, and am doing my best in my lame azz way to accomplish that by far more effort than sitting on my duff and typing about it. This year I was invited to a machine gun shoot with over 30 TN Legislators, where we spoke about the path to realizing those goals. Are we there yet, no, but that does not keep me from advocating for it. My involvement with those Legislators won me that invite, writing letters, making calls, knocking on their office doors and speaking to them in person. I suggest you get some facts before you insult what I do, you have no clue what efforts I have put forth.
  13. Yeah you did, check the time stamps, then Holder's contention that he is just now finding out about the whole thing. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/2714550/posts Was he lying under oath, or just that stupid?
  14. I am not an attorney, but I can promise you this, the time spent by myself and the others of the TFA is not compensated for in any way. In our travels to advocate for our Rights, we do not even receive gas money for the trips across the State. You may consider the efforts put forth by the TFA as lame, but I consider any effort better than none. My time, while you may consider it worthless, is fairly valuable to me, and when I use my vacation days to spend time at the Legislature to entreat to move our laws back to what they ought to be, I consider that as giving SOMETHING to the cause. I try in discussions to not be personally insulting, just the way I was raised, but I guess the sharecroppers upbringing I had left me lacking in internet protocol. Evidently I am not as versed in what IS as you, but last time I checked, I get to have my own opinion.
  15. Nice try, but no cigar. I suppose you could repatriate to your, and his home State, I am sure you enjoyed much broader freedom to bear arms there than you do here. Vote with your feet if you like it so little here. The rest of us will continue to work on our State Legislators to remedy the Carpetbagger forced changes to our original Declaration of Rights.
  16. You see what they want you to see at first blush, I however am waiting for the other shoe to drop. They are telling you to wait and see what he is preparing to put into place sans Congressional approval. From the articles posted prior: If that does not concern you, I do not know what might. He comes from a land that owes no allegiance to our Constitution, and is not concerned with legalities of any shape form or fashion, most especially those which regard the Right of the citizen to keep and bear arms.
  17. I do not think he intends to try and "pass" anything, knowing that there is not enough support in the House, he intends to try and satisfy his base through Executive Order. From the articles: If you don't like the Huffington Post in the first article, the same thing is posted in USA Today in the second. Obama Looking For Ways Around Congress On Gun Policy http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2011-07-08-obama-gun-control-safety-giffords_n.htm
  18. Considering that the dollar amount pressed into service from the Stimulus came from the current bunch of thugs, and the attempt to set the whole thing up to foster more gun control laws apparently comes from them as well, I will stick by my statement that I do not trust them at all. To your point that Gun Walker started under Bush, I never considered my 2nd Amendment Rights safe in his hands either. Seems that another News (WND) source is giving the latest postulation some credence as well. Obama stimulus funded 'guns-to-drug-lords' plan
  19. We have Federal Legislators intoning that illegals should, and could be President of the US some day. I personally have no problem believing that our current bunch of thugs in the White House would do ANYTHING to make it easier to pass new gun control measures, up to and including transferring guns directly to cartels to make the average gun owner look bad. They have already said they will advance gun control by Executive Order, so what makes you think that they are going to play by the rules in any other game.
  20. I would suspect that the captors are cutting deals with him to get him to make statements to make the US Government's actions appear credible. If you read the full article, it begins to make better sense.
  21. Prison Planet.com » Los Zetas Kingpin: We Bought Guns Directly From U.S. Government This revelation may be the most damning of all!
  22. Better read up on your local game laws, being in possession of a loaded high powered rifle relative to certain seasons is a criminal activity, e.g. shotgun only area or during turkey season. Remember, the guys who write IRS rules and regs do game laws in their off season.
  23. Government just making sure they get to wet their beak. They don't seem to mind that the average person gambles their very life every time they get behind the wheel of their vehicles to travel down the road a la the Deer Hunter, as the drivers (most anyway) are paying the vig for license, government getting their taste.
