Ron Ramsey on 2013 "Parking Lot" Bill status
Worriedman replied to Worriedman's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
To say that the state won’t recognize your right but a business must is just a thug government.
Their true colors are showing through more and more.
If I was a betting man, the bill will include public lots and exclude fenced/secured non-public lots. That's the "compromise" I see being pushed. It would give us the bill, but cover their asses with folks like VW and FedEx. Regardless, it looks like Ramsey got the hint that he needs to produce something quickly.
In a conversation in his office in September, he says the bill will NOT include a "Fed Ex" style fenced lot exclusion. We shall see. -
I wonder if when the rich were saying that there was only going to be two classes, rich and poor, they understood that the poor would kill and eat them?
I wonder if the "poor" have ever heard the parable of killing the goose that lays the golden eggs?

When Obama Care bombs, (and it will, it was designed to), and we move to a single payer system, and our healthcare system completely falters, we will take the whole conversation back up. We see Haslam capitulating to the exchanges already, he is going to sell us shortly to keep his place at the trough. Harwell already staging Frist and HCA to profit from our discomfiture. Pretty simple really, the Elite making decisions about how the producers will exist, damn what that old worthless document (Constitution) says, they know best.
There are pro 2A democrats and anti 2A republicans. BUT, the Democratic party is anti 2A. As a party, it's their goal to destroy it. It's the Republican party's goal to preserve it. It shouldn't be a surprise that folks on a gun board would bash the hell out of the one group that's trying to destroy something that's very important to all of us.
I guess I should have made sure I was referencing Tennessee Republicans. Haslam was a member of Bloomberg's Mayors Against Illegal Guns, and only left to soft pedal his aversion to firearms, just prior to his election. Alexander is proven to be as anti gun as any poll in America, with Corker not far behind. Harwell, no discussion needed, she has repeatedly voted against every single loosening of firearms issues. Lets see where we are at the end of 2013?
Pro-2nd Amendment democrat! Now that's an novel concept; why would you be a democrat since it's the democrats that want to take away your guns and gun rights?
Will have to take exception to this line of reasoning, at least in reference to Tennessee politicians. In the last General Assembly, Rep. Eddie Bass was as supportive of 2nd Amendment issues as any Republican. Ben West was arguably the most conservative member of the House while he was in office. Doug Jackson carried the Restaurant Bill both times in the Senate. Republicans with their hands stuck out to Fed Ex killed the Parking Lot Bill last year, and the one before. Lt. Gov. Ramsey shook my hand, looked me in the eye in September of this year, promised it would get passed in the 2013 session, and it will not, again. Republicans have not been supportive of your Right to keep a weapon in your personal property for your use in defending yourself (even though the State Constitution demands that you be able to, and our Supreme Court has ruled that we have that political Right) nor does it appear that they ever will be again, as long as Haslam, Alexander and Harwell are swapping off wheel duty at the helm of State.
The downside to having Republican super-majorities in both houses is that now ALL bills will be back-room deals. the only bills that will see any public view are those that have already been pre-approved. As said above, the Republican RINO leadership has a lock on this. I do not expect the Governor to stand up to the Feds and fight un-Constitutional decrees from 'Dear Leader'. I hope I'm wrong, but do not believe that I am.
You are not wrong. Take it from someone who was up close and personal last year with this outfit, the decisions are made by the few, and told to the many what they will do. It operates under the Golden rule, them whats got the gold rules! Big business lobbed tons of money into the Caucus Super PAC, and mandates the actions.

Wanted to share this great quip from Sam Adams
Worriedman replied to leroy's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
JayC, you may count yourself in that number, (as a fence sitter), but having walked the halls of Congress, (where I can remember seeing less than 10 Tennesseans in favor of any firearms issue) and spent my money to fund good candidates and then go and walk the districts to talk with the voters, I will not wear that moniker. Another of Sam's famous quote you can see at the bottom of every post I make, and I believe it with all my heart. I do not like the way things are going in my country, but I lay down at night and sleep, because I have done everything I could to succor a future of as much Liberty as possible for my grand children. -
Realistically, what are the odds going to be?
First term, yeah, but also only went so far to say he'd wait until after 2012 election. He obviously wants to go, so whether he'll hang in another 4 years is doubtful. Especially since there's no indication the GOP may ever win another presidential election now that the ongoing fix is in. - OS
Can't say I like this, but I do agree with it... -

The best chance we had to get some change in the TN House was to get Lauri Day elected in the Clarksville area, and that did not happen either. She would have added to the pry-bar to move the female members off of being stuck on Harwell. Bad missed opportunity. -
Plus the GOP now has a super-majority in both parts of the TN legislature. If they'll elect some majority-leaders with some stones, we can see some good stuff come out of the capitol building over the next few years. No need to "reach across the aisle". The people have given them a pretty clear mandate: "Run your platform, not theirs."
Not going to happen. We have the seen the enemy, and he is us. The current top leadership will not be changed, and, they are trying their best to oust Matheny as I type, and will succeed. He is the last vestige of Conservative Leadership in TN, and when the new session rolls around he will be relegated to nothingness. -
What will you do on the day after tomorrow?

Me, I am going to have a Sushi lunch, depending on how the tally goes I either get treated or pay. -
A Last Minute Appeal To Libertarians And Non-Voters
Worriedman replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
. New Rome is a tinderbox just needing the right spark, and my only wish is that I am around to see the carnage as it all burns to the ground.
Careful what you wish for, you just might get it. About the only thing that keeps me awake at night is the thought of my 4 grand children terrified and helpless before that fire. If you have progeny, can't understand wanting to watch them consumed in that conflagration. -
A Last Minute Appeal To Libertarians And Non-Voters
Worriedman replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Not to get off topic but even though I've asked the question of proponents of repeal of the (I believe) 17th amendment, no one has been able to demonstrate to me that the legislature of each sate choosing its senators would provide "better" senators than we have gotten by electing them.
The State Legislature had the ability to appoint, or recall at their whim, (or more correctly, the electorate's whim), the Senators. I know my local Representative, on a first name, he sees me coming he runs, either to shake my hand or hide basis. I can instruct him as the Tennessee Constitution intends. Never get a chance to speak to Alexander or Corker, so my influence there is far less than it is with my State Representative. It was how it was intended to be. -

Worriedman replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The US Constitution agrees. That's why it only stipulated that people voted for their area representative. Not senators or even president. The American Idol method of choosing the president has become an abomination. We'd do well with going back to what the constitution intended, which was to become more involved with politics by holding local reps' feet to the fire about everything in Washington. Including choosing the prez. - OS
That document, and its intent are hard to beat. -
We will, Worriedman.
Been hanging around the Legislature for several years now, I have found a few, but they are being hounded out of the organization by the Establishcans. Judd Matheny, arguably the very best individual in the House is going to be kicked out of his Speaker Pro Tempore Role come January after his run at Harwell, too many dollars controlled by the Establishment, and a decided lack of concern for Constitutional principals resulting in a "get even" push by Liberal Republicans.

Wish we could find some Conservatives in Tennessee!

TGO Prez Poll Results & Last Predictions
Worriedman replied to Oh Shoot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
According to the poll, you voted for Obama, correct?
In the first one, then changed in the second. Keep in mind, the original polls asked what I "thought" not what I wanted to happen. I see a change from then to now. -
TGO Prez Poll Results & Last Predictions
Worriedman replied to Oh Shoot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
History of Ohio being Republican, and, the coal issue will take Ohio into Romney's column this time. Have a compatriot there who is very active in the NRA and Buckeye Firearms, she keeps an ear to the ground on grassroots issues as part of her job. She has been telling me that the polls are way off in Ohio, and that the only place Obama is going to carry is Cleveland. she intimates that the rural areas are sick of Obama and his attacks on coal and resultant job losses there, with the certain knowledge that if he gets four more years then the budding natural gas industry will be knocked in the head too. Carbon (and the current Administration's hate of it) will beat Obama in Ohio. Plus, I think the mask slipped a little with the "Voting is the best Revenge" comment, along with the Savior's failure to wave his hand and cure the Northeast storm's problems are showing him to be a mortal more focused on photo ops and the election than balming their ills. I think Romney by a big enough margin that Obama's legal challanges will simply make him look like the sore looser he will be. -
One must consider that the NRA was supportive of Harry Reid, (and still is), they sometimes have a hard time counting votes. This coming from a Benefactor level NRA member, who supports their actions on the most part. I had hard conversation with their lobbyist during our joint efforts on behalf of the Employee Safe Commute Bill last year. Do I still support them with my time and money, absolutely, but, I do not blindly follow their suggestions. I want Obama beat and out of Washington as bad as anybody, and am working to facilitate that occurrence, but, am tired to death of liberals of any ilk. Our Tennessee Republican Party is rife with them, Alexander, Haslam and Harwell to name a few. Being a Conservative will get you hinney kicked by the Establishment Republicans in TN, just ask Judd Matheny. Harwell's henchmen are currently planning his demise as speaker Pro Tempore, and once he is out of any vestige of leadership in the House, Conservatism will have lost its last breath in Tennessee.
-
The Republican Party in Tennessee is a far cry from being "Conservative". The wheelhouse is populated by the Bill Frist, Bill Haslam, Winfield Dunn, Beth Harwell and Lamar Alexander steering committee, and that group disregard for the Constitution is anything BUT Conservative. Those facts being stated, Obama and his ilk are SO bad that voting for an Elitist, Liberal Party of Lincoln is preferable, (especially in light of the Supreme Court) as the only choice available to anyone who has hopes that the general population may at some point wake up and start getting involved.

Liar, liar pants on fire! That is what Obama offered up, over and over...

It seems the wind is coming from a different quarter as of late, the mess in the Middle East and the fact the administration can not get in the same county as the truth, Libya will continue to leave a bad taste. Then there is the petulant little girl whine "Romney is a liar" when Obama (and his camp) should be taking his whooping like a man, I change my vote from the 90 day out poll.
