  1. I thought the background checks were done by phone?  Guess I have dated myself about how long it has been since I bought a gun.
  2. They going to close Chicago and Detroit?   Notice they do not say "Stop" bullying, drug abuse etc., they just want to try to slow it down some (reduce), because no law can really stop anything.
  3. I'd like to be able to run a background check on the kid asking to date my daughter.  How about making it legal for anyone to run a check on any one else?  Pay the $10.00 and get your fact check sheet.   Will volunteer to pay for the first one on the current POTUS...
  4. Some of the rank and file will, where Leadership winds up is a whole 'nuther help line.
  5. Shouldn't they lose their ability to vote as well?
  6. Dolomite, the Parking Lot Bills treated PERSONAL private property differently from BUSINESS private property.  No one has ever suggested that where you live is the same as a store where you invite people in to shop, or a place of work where you invite people in to provide labor for you. (farms were included in the exempted type of properties.)
  7. You might check PruneYard Shopping Center v. Robins, 447 U.S. 74, 100 S.Ct. 2035, 64 L.Ed.2d 741 (1980).    In PruneYard, California's constitutional protection of free speech rights prevented owners of a private shopping center from prohibiting the circulation of petitions on the owner's property. Despite the fact that individuals circulating petitions may have physically invaded the owner's property, the Supreme Court held that California's requirement that property owners recognize state-protected rights of free expression and petition clearly [did] not amount to an unconstitutional infringement of appellants' property rights under the Takings Clause.   Ownership of a static piece of land does not convey unbridled ability to enforce ANY issue so chosen by the owner. Laws that fall under public chapters e.g. TCA Code, must be obeyed regardless of who owns the property.  Just because someone trespasses, the owner is not allowed to shoot them, which would be allowable if absolute control of property were assigned via possession.    http://www.shrm.org/Advocacy/Issues/WorkplaceSafety/Documents/OK%20WEAPONS%20JUDGMENT%2010TH%20CIR.pdf
  8. Wish I could convey my thoughts and fears that well.
  9. Try something.  Open the Commercial Appeal's attached link, type in a name and hit search, type in a city and hit search.  One of our recently elected Senators (rhymes with Niceley) opined last evening that the TN Legislature had passed legisaltion that would preclude anyone generating a list, said information had to be "you have to know the name and address and get it one at a time. specifically prohibited is publishing a list" and "Well everyone wants transparency as I've heard it from your group as well. I can see access to the data but not for publication."   http://www.commercialappeal.com/data/gunpermits/
  10. Legislation I think we should all get behind.   Summary: Public Records - As introduced, makes confidential and not open for public inspection all information contained in and pertaining to a handgun carry permit application or renewal application and the status of a handgun carry permit. - Amends TCA Section 10-7-504 and Title 39, Chapter 17, Part 13.   http://www.capitol.tn.gov/Bills/108/Bill/HB0009.pdf
  11. Spend a little time researching the stances of House and Senate Leadership, and see the discarded bodies of those legislators who have championed ANY efforts to expand our firearms carry capabilities.  (see Judd Matheny and Mae Beavers)   Don't get me wrong, you are singing from my hymnal, but the choir is small, and the Arch Bishops are killing those who do not sing from theirs.
  12. You could have pictures of him taking the money, with marked bills, and it will be of no consequence.  We celebrate our Democrat criminals in congress, e.g. Charles Rangel.
  13. Takes a little intelligence to be guilty of the charges as stated, (or as OS says "smart man" in place of wise). I believe they are spot on.
  14. Now I feel REALLY old...Dr. Suzanna Gratia-Hupp, her mother and father were killed in the Luby's Massacre in Killeen TX in 1991.  She got elected to the TX House, fought for carry rights.
  15.     Sounds like a threat to me. If he considers it OK to fire on a citizen at the notice of a weapon without deciphering the actual situation, I see that as a problem.   At least he does not seem too tore up about the possibilities.  Not sure I see a lot of difference in this assertion and Yeager's, neither seem to concerned about what is correct or proper, simply their own personal opinion resulting in what I consider to be chin music in bad taste.   Don't get me wrong, I think Yeager is an ***hat, and did our side no service by his actions, but, he is not singular in letting his mouth run off... Didn't the President mention something about "If they bring a knife, we bring a gun"  I am sure he had all the best of intentions for its use...
  16. Uh, didn't a Chicago Police Chief say his forces would be shooting people, regardless of their legality, just the other day?
  17. I would suspect that Bill is Gibbons.  I had the opportunity to interview him on two occasions during his run for the Governors position, he strikes me a one who cares not one whit for the average Joe having the ability to keep and bear arms.  Much more of a elitist who thinks he has better developed ability to decide who should be armed and who should not.     Always found it curious that he pulled up the tent stakes without so much as a whimper when he quit, (he did not give me the impression he was one to give up easily, or EVER) yet found that job right off after the issue was settled as to who was housed in the Governor's mansion.
  18.   Vernacular from the Bill last year:   About as absolute as it could be written.
  19. Mr. Gottlieb (or perchance Alan Gura) would bring a quite, disciplined persona with him, and wipe the floor with Biteme.  Could not have their poster boy made to look like a complete idiot...
  20. From our State Supreme Court:    Andrews v. State, 50 Tenn. 165, 181 (1871).   "The right to keep arms, necessarily involves the right to purchase them, to keep them in a state of efficiency for use, and to purchase and provide ammunition suitable for such arms, and to keep them in repair."
  21. I agree totally with Oh Shoot.  Beth Harwell states that she is an ardent supporter of the 2nd Amendment.  Goes back to talk the talk and walk the walk methinks...one is easy to do, the other requires character.   Per Dr. Suzanna Gratia-Hupp:  “How a politician stands on the Second Amendment tells you how he or she views you as an individual… as a trustworthy and productive citizen, or as part of an unruly crowd that needs to be lorded over, controlled, supervised, and taken care of.”  Notice Dr. Hupp specifically makes mention of how a politician "stands" on the 2nd Amendment, not what their chin music is.

  23. Don't see this up yet.  From the article:           http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/01/10/2-shot-at-california-high-school/
