Nothing in the Constitution of the Union or the State guaranteeing you the right to not wear a tie. There is no specific Article which references a tie, but Article 1 Section 26 does specifically reference arms, and my Right to carry them for my defense. Our Constitution says that ONLY the legislature has the power to regulate where arms are worn, individuals do not have that power.

Received this message last week from Sheriff Buck:   "As Sheriff of McNairy County it is my job to protect the constitutional rights of our citizens. The second amendment is a right, not a privilege and shall not be infringed upon. As long as I am Sheriff of McNairy County, I will not allow anyone to seize any firearms from law abiding citizens within this county.” Sheriff Guy Buck 19 January 2013

The TFA has been pushing for these types of reforms.  Problem is that we do not have enough members to seriously affect the legislature.  Nearly 400K handgun carry permits in the State, 1.2 million hunters (last figures I saw) and we do not have enough membership to give the RINOS a slight case of heart burn much less get their attention.   Give me 30,000 vocal members, we could name any tune we wanted.  If that same number of people put $100.00 into a PAC we would be a force to be reckoned with, right now we are a little bit of hot air, and we still stir them up big time.

That person best be ready to have the full weight of the Republican machine brought to bear within hours of pulling the petition to run.  If their employer is the skittish type, every fear factor that can be brought to bear will be.  Throngs of investigators would be tearing through the candidates life, and that of his family and friends.   We are not in Kansas anymore, the seats of power deal with massive amounts of money, the freshman representative does not have a place at the trough, the paycheck is not enough to allow a normal person to survive, have to have other means of succor to survive.  It is an exclusive club these days.

She voted against it 4 times.  She is not a defender of the 2nd, she is a Progressive and as long as she habits the Speaker's position, no supportive legislation will make it past her death grip.

So far, I can tell you that I can count on one hand the number of people I have seen in Nashville in the last 4 years actively pursuing an agenda detailing more freedom to carry and own firearms.   Understanding the old saw that "The squeaky wheel gets the grease" not only are those who desire more freedom to carry their personal firearms being outspent, they are out numbered by a huge margin in who shows up.  There was a room for of paid individuals who stood against us on the Employee Safe Commute last year in the Senate Committee hearings, 4 Citizens and one paid lobbyist in favor of.  We carried the day on the vote, Fed EX and Volkswagen outspent us and beat us into oblivion.   Till we change that factor, we are doomed to failure.   Federal Express paid more money to buy politicians in TN in the last session than our side has spent in the last 20 years.   It is not about what is Constitutional, it is about what the perception is that the pols hold about them getting re-elected that matters.  They do not care about our issues, it is all about them getting back to Nashville, anyone who does not believe that is a fool.   They are like fish, if they keep in the cover, they live long enough to get fat, if they stray into the open, they get gigged or eaten.  We had better learn to provide those who share out ideals with some cover.

Here is a point to ponder, did any of the pols who spoke vote FOR a 2nd Amendment issue in the last General Assembly, either year?  Seems convenient to be all about it now while the collective dander is raised.   I say we count our friends after Leadership decides where it is going to fall out regarding support, and see who the Champions are, if any.

I had to "defriend" my sister. She is (God love her) the most rabid leftest in the world.  I have had a lot of folks that know us both ask me why she is so vociferous against guns and anything unliberal (know that is not a word, but if it ain't liberal, she ain't having anything to do with it.)  I have to lie and say I don't know, when it really is the fact that her first husband was in the Army, and hates anything to do with a firearm after the divorce.  That and the fact that her sons are Military and LE, just like their Dad, all those guns...   We have to keep our differences out of sight from our parents, as they are both slightly right of Attila the Hun, and if my dad knew some of the crap she post, they would disown her.   So I get you Mr. David, I have removed myself as an aggravation to all hose who vehemently disagree with my view points, I am not going to change their mind anyway...

I agree it does not stop any criminal from purchasing a firearm, but the perception is that they buy them from you and me, and we are in a perception war that we have to win, or we lose all.   If we can manage it to our preference so much the better.  Too many sheep out there who will go along with demanding "full background checks", well let's give it to them, on our terms.

Correct me if I am wrong, ( I am, it seems lately more than I am right) but, does the TICS system not include a FBI, TBI and local LE background check?    Reading the TN Constitution, it says that the legislature has the power by law to regulate the wearing of arms. They, (TN legislature) has control over whatever the requirements are regarding the steps that a Citizen must take to purchase a firearm.  They have already decided that a background check is useful in reducing crime, it is a State requirement, not a Federal one.   As the "Big Push" seems to be to get rid of the "Gun Show Loophole" misnomer that it is, allowing individuals to take advantage of access to a publicly funded system that the public already pays for, even though they might charge a fee, could be advantageous to meet the criteria that is being desired in such voracious terms.   I see it running something like this.  You want to sell a forearms, the individual seeking to purchase it from a non-FFL individual gives the potential seller their DL number, they call it in, pay the TICS fee, get a transaction #, and have that then for the Individual's records.  (I keep a bill of sale for any transaction that I am party too).  Not requiring a serial number to validate the vetting process, simply the name and DL # seems to be a way to satisfy the outcry to vet purchasers and keep registration from being possible.  Takes the ability of FFL dealers to gouge the public away, all the user would be responsible for is the fee to the system, not any additional cost to a FFL dealer.   Check the people, not track the firearm.  Two birds, one rock.

I got to see Nikki (as usual she did a great job), Bombdog and Miss Hannah, Senator Beavers and some other friends, got complimented on my singing voice by a couple of cute ladies when we did "God Bless America", then went to the Hendersonville Gun Show, got to meet dlm37015 and 6.8 AR, picked up some powder and primers.   Overall, a pretty good day.  Was there to add my voice to the debate, and being I am a fairly wide individual, made the news shots that much bigger.

Ken Marrero was the MC, he is associated with various Tea Party functions, and writes a blog as "The Blue Collar Muse".  He had called and asked me to attend and speak, as the organizers had not heard from any legislators except Joe Carr.  It should be noted that Ken was highly upset that we went after Maggart last year, they are great friends.    Once the crowd started gathering, the Politicos showed up, Ken scheduled me for last.  After John Harris called out Leadership, the powers that be decided one speaker from the TFA was enough, even though they knew my 5 minute talk was about effective advocacy and teaching our children the values of the Bill of Rights.   Is OK with me, hearing Rep. Mike Sparks kiss Beth and Bill Haslam's hinney more than makes up for the gas and the disrespect to not even bother saying how they appreciated the drive up, but hey...

  You can get over that, Beth has decided that she is not going to allow it, regardless of what Ramsey wanted to do. She has the Governor's ear so that is a done deal.  Can not let Maggart getting tossed allow the bill to proceed.

We see this totally differently. To sell a firearm to someone that I have not vetted is "reckless".  When the State added that wording to the TCA code, I took it as a charge that I was obligated to fulfill.   Losing the ability to privately sell or trade with  someone I know to be of sound character, giving in to Federal registration is the end of Liberty as far as I am concerned.   I know I am just one person, but, I get to have that opinion.   If we allow this without fighting it to the bitter end, we are ruined.   No, registration and confiscation is the purpose.

I think that if we as a Nation, allow the usurpation of our ability to barter or sell our legally owned firearms sans Big Brother's intervention, we are capitulating the entire Republic. In TN we are already by law required to make sure that the end receiver is not a criminal.  Enforce that law.  Make the background check system available to the People without having to report it.   The government works for us, we pay the bills, allow us to call the TICS (or whatever acronym is correct) system and check out any individual without having to report the request to anybody.  Charge me the $10.00, it is my system, I own it.  I can pay for my driver's license on line, why not allow me to use the background system on line?

He will have to find the money to outspend the NRA with respect to Congress.  We have but one choice here, to get as involved as we can,and convince the politicians that we are finally going to get off out dead hinneys and take an interest, donate some money and make sure that every legislator that is supposed to represent us knows each and every one of by name and by sight.
