Haslam is the consummate politician, "I will sign Constitutional Carry if it gets to my desk."

Spent time on the phone with three different State Representatives today, plan on talking with Senators tomorrow.

My take, they could say NOTHING, be politically expedient and keep their heads down.    I for one am glad to see them issue at least that statement.  We will get nada from Mayors and their politically appointed Chiefs of Police.

I do not know this man yet, but everything I have seen so far makes me think he might just be the Real Deal.  Better make that date, if he is as supportive of firearms rights as he seems, the Moderates will have him bound, gagged and in a closet before you know it.

Nothing is passed, nothing is out of committee.  Remember, Madam Speaker does not believe that the legislature should spend any time on gun bills.   It has been her stated goal to ONLY provide succor to those entities that write large checks to the Republican Party.

Got the 1313 figured out, guess I was looking for the devil in the details or have become jaded after my time in dealing with these folks, all of operative clause IS the new 1313.

      Basically says you can leave your handgun in your vehicle, but do not yet know what the "gotcha" is due to 39-17-1313, I can not access the latest version of that Public Chapter.   Just received this text from one of the sponsors in response to a question "Very simple. If you are a gun permit holder you can have your gun in any pkn lot in Tennessee" at least that is the intent, till we get the conference committee.

  It does not supersede the Carr legislation, but it does a better job of what we need it to do, or that is my opinion anyway.

Anybody know what the gotcha is in Ramsey/Fasion "Parking Lot" Bill?  The version of Lexis/Nexis I can access just list 39-17-1313 as "reserved" so I can not tell what the bill really does. (if anything)

I have had the good fortune to be asked to speak at several Tea Party events over the last few weeks regarding the Tennessee Constitution and Union 2nd Amendment issues, specifically Henry County last week, Carroll County last night. Having been doing this for a couple of years now, I am seeing a definite change in the wind.  Last year the average age of attendees was probably 65, (counting a few 6 month olds in the room in the average) and maybe 15-20 people in total.    In Paris last Thursday evening, there were over 50 in the room, and far more young people than I am used to seeing.    Last night in Huntingdon, there were over 35 people and a few young folks there as well.   One of the issues I regularly hear is the desire on the part of some to NOT perfect their permits for carry as they do not want to get on a "list".  I had a gentleman articulate that premise last evening, and I thought the Baptist Preacher in attendance and a former Marine were going to flog him.  They both suggested that he get in the fight, and stand as one of the "Counted".   I concur that the mood is changing.

  Sorry, but that is not correct.  Jackson is nowhere near that size in population and it is way up in the number of murders, and then there are the armed robbery numbers, home invasions...   Jackson/Madison County TN is the 9th most dangerous municipality in the US.  We have a shooting or a murder nearly everyday here.

TFA was fairly effective till the Republicans got their heavy majority (while it was nip and tuck, the Republicans used the TFA like a club to beat the Democrats), there are numerous Joint House/Senate Resolutions describing how helpful the TFA had been.  When the Republicans took over, I can remember Maggart looking at me, telling me her only job was to build Republican Power, asking who I was going to vote for, saying that I had nowhere to go but to the Republicans.  TFA was dead off in the middle of the LEGISLATIVE effort on Restaurants, but that was back when there were some who were willing to work with us, (Democrats included, Sen. Jackson was our best help actually) the current Masters are so Liberal and anti-gun that I am not sure anything can be done.  If they would let the pro-gun initiatives come to the floor they would pass every time, but the present Leadership learned too well from Naifeh, three individuals can control the State and do as they will, until a big enough crowd is standing on Capitol Hill, ala Income Tax and then it is a different thing.   One must remember that Rep. McDaniel, who is Speaker Harwell's appointed right hand henchman was one of the original Naifeh 8, and was all over trying to get an income tax established in TN, and our revered Speaker was quoted in the Tennessean, 2/8/02 as saying: “I have always tried to stay flexible enough that if [an income tax] has support, then I certainly would be able to support it.”   I get a count of the contacts made to legislators on the various issues, and have come to the conclusion that the average gun owner needs to step up.  I have known that politicians want us void of arms, it fits their power seeking lifestyle much better, as armed people are Citizens and those who are unarmed are serfs.   I work for results, not accolades.

All depends on what the State has to say, Pruneyard was used to support the fact that private property owners can not deny a Constitutional Right to free speech on their property in California because the State CAN offer more freedoms than the Federal Government, and that was used to help decide that business private property owners could not disarm Citizens in Oklahoma.  You might want to read the case law on Ramsey Winch DP...http://caselaw.findlaw.com/us-10th-circuit/1277065.html

  I work for a construction firm that trust and allows its employees to keep their legally owned weapons in their vehicles.  I am a Senior Project Manager, and as such I must travel to many different locations.  Having an early portion of that ill fated boondoggle that WAS Hemlock Semiconductor, I was forced to be unarmed for my traverse to and from Clarksville, as I was required to ferry materials and hardware for controls that were, by contract, not allowed to be offloaded to a common carrier, and not allowed to be unguarded from the time they entered my possession until I handed them over to the installer and received signatures for chain of possession documentation. Their protocol was that no private vehicles could enter the work site, being relegated to a communal parking lot outside the fenced enclosure.  My firm allows me to keep my weapon in my vehicle, that private company denied me that ability.   I am sure you will now insist that I could quit my job, tossing out 20 years of employment history and the retirement built up with my company, giving my severely ill wife the good news that I By God stood on principal and pulled up my big boy pants and showed Hemlock they could not push me around, the fact that her life expectancy had been cut to about six weeks being of no consequence.

Neither of these are reasonable, if one considers the hierarchy espoused in every description of Rights, that include Life, Liberty and Property.  Life always takes precedence.  There are no "bullet proof" guarantees to property in TN, not by our Constitution, its only mention in clauses describe how it can be taken by the government, or your neighbors, if they decide their need for your stuff is great enough.  

  If you think it is moral for a landlord, who reaps the benefit of lucre from a tenant that pays for the space they occupy, to deny that person their God given Right to keep arms for their defense, which NOBODY else can or will provide, there is nothing else that can be said.  That is, in my opinion, the most egregious of sins. That deal cut between business and government is sadder than the one that deprives my daughter the ability to provide protection for my grandchildren because she is a teacher,  public school teacher at that, who works on public ground, but is deprived of her Cosntitutional  and God given Right to provide for her own protection by individuals who prefer control to allowing the single most basic and important unalienable truths, the one that says we each and every one of us deserve to protect our lives, in the best manner we can.

  Those who are, need to be. We need to be choosing sides and supporting our team.

Concur.    Nothing in the Employee Safe Commute bill allows any person to carry a firearm anywhere, it does however allow the Keeping of a legal firearm in an individual's personal property, it must be unhandled, not displayed, and out of sight.   This mantra that the Constitution only guarantees Rights not be infringed by Government is ludicrous.  A business property owner can not imprison an individual that crosses his property that is open for business, they can ask them to leave.  If that individual does not leave, a property owner can not, just because they are on said property, whip out the 9 and drop them, which, if unlimited ability to control the space existed would be in the purvey of the owner.

Bet if we could get the real reports out of Chicago, there are numerous shootings there every day, MSM just is not telling us about them at the top of every hour as they have all those "gun control" laws up there...

This.   Was in Houston yesterday, talked with a very friendly, bright young Officer at my hotel, (former Marine) he said it was thugs playing and one civilian got hurt in the crossfire. Says it is a daily occurrence in Houstink, just happened to take place at a school, "this time" as he put it.
