Just for those who never knew: Al Sharpton
Worriedman replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Just because he says he is, does not mean he is. "By their fruit you will recognize them." -
He would not, if he actually understood that is what he had just intimated...

Zimmerman - Lessons Learned

Not necessarily true. The other guy can be really stupid, or evil, and drag you into a fight. -
No Legal Duty To Protect Citizens
Worriedman replied to RobertNashville's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I agree with you 100%. But, it is not just New York, and, it will be here if we are not active. Our State Constitution says, (and holds our legislators to this under their oath or obligation to protect and defend it), that "That the citizens of this state have a right to keep and to bear arms for their common defense; but the Legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms with a view to prevent crime." We do not require that they, (the legislature) abide by that edict, why should we expect them to be concerned with our security and safety? -
No Legal Duty To Protect Citizens
Worriedman replied to RobertNashville's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
There are lots of fine, dedicated LEO's out there, and there are many who would take a bullet for the People, but, it is because of individual effort and backbone, not because the law would hold them to that effort. They are only charged with the investigation of crime, not its prevention, and certainly not protecting the average Citizen. Too many instances of this going to high courts, all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States, and they have said that no governmental agency can be responsible for the production of safety and protection of individuals. What if the action occurs where there are no Police? As the average, as I have been told lately is one Officer to 7500 citizens, what are the chances that one will be in the parking lot, the alley or your back yard where a criminal is plying their trade? The answer is 0% and as such, the municipalities and the States and the Federal Government can not be held liable. Anyone who does not understand that is blind or a fool, or both. -
No Legal Duty To Protect Citizens

It really is not. This has been the rule since constabulary was set in the US. People just believe that the government is there to protect them, it never said it was. -
The August Meeting of the West TN Regional Chapter of the TFA will be held Thursday, August 8, 2013, at Brooks Shaw Old Country Store. Our room will be available at 5:30 P.M. for those who wish to share a meal and fellowship, the meeting proper will begin at 6:45. Our Speaker this month will be Lt. Brad Wilbanks of the Tennessee Highway Patrol. We have asked Lt. Wilbanks to address the group on issues related to protocol for stops, with special attention to DUI checkpoints. This is a very important topic, and we are grateful for the outreach by our local Law Enforcement Officers to inform us of the actual laws and Citizen responsibility with respect to these situations. Membership is not a requirement to attend, all are welcome. Please bring a friend and join us.

I wear my Colors, (TFA cap and shirts) a lot, I have several AR.15 shirts and LaRue caps as well that I don with regularity. I do not wear them to work, that requires lawyer shirts mostly, except for site visits which mean PPE, flame retardant and steel toed boots normally.

BBI is a local Tennessee operation, and the Owner is a really great guy. -
Lester, What the people want is immaterial, the government has the guns. The government will only be concerned with keeping alive those who can vote for a long time. Old codgers have money in the bank they can take, so they will drop them off the edge so they can take their homes and goods, and will reduce the amount of outlay via Medicare and Social Security.

So sorry to ear of anyone with shingles. Wife had them they chased up the nerve chain to her left eye, nearly lost her sight in that one. Took 6 months for it to be less than horrible. I have watched her go through kidney failure, dialysis, transplant surgery, taking out all her sinus bone divisions from a mold infection, a car wreck that nearly got her, and she said all lumped together, everything else did not hurt as bad as the shingles. Only thing that helped her was Neurontin, it is nerve pain and damage, the heaviest painkillers did not phase this mess for her. Sorry for your troubles.

Very interesting situation I am listening to. Am currently in Bryan, TX, and on the drive in from Liberal Mecca (Austin) this morning, I was listening to the talk radio station out of Houston. Mike Bell had Quanell X (sp.) on the phone, he had just lead a march on Saturday damning Stand Your Ground, and today he is representing the 23 year old that shot the guy at the service station on Saturday, guy is all in support of SYG now, says it was written for this young girl. The calls in to the show were pretty fired up. Houston has evidently had about enough of Trayvon...

Given the track record of Gov. Haslam and Speaker Harwell with respect to firearms rights in TN, their absolute worship of Lamar Alexander and the desire to maintain a "Most Favored Southern Republican Administration" status under the current President, nothing, and I mean nothing would surprise me. And as to getting enough people involved to push back against a study to "Look" at the Stand your Ground law, and movement to "reasonably change" our SYG, don't hold your breath.
