Gun Rights, Can we make a difference for Tennessee?
Worriedman replied to DaveTN's topic in General Chat
I don't know how to adequately describe this to you Dave, I have tried, I really have. Not enough people are pledging money to legislators for re-election to override the purchase power of Leadership on the issue. The Chamber of Commerce does not want this, and as they give more money to legislators than all other groups (and realize if you can, that Big Business funds them) what the Chamber wants, the Chamber gets. Dennis never intended for this so called bill to be debated on the floor, it has no co-sponsors, not one, there are no co-sponsors in the Senate, none. If any of the representatives were for it, they would be Prime co-sponsors It is simply a game he is running to try and save his political hide. Want to do something to futher the cause of firearms rights in TN, help beat that phony this year. Money and time is all it takes. You wirte a check to the TFA PAC for $32 mil, I wll start giving you results, because then I can register as a lobbyist and start passing out $20,000.00 per cycle instead of the $250.00 we can afford at the present. But By God we are at least inthe fight, and in the know of what the facts are. I told you above what we have to do to get some results, beat the Establishment guys in the hinter regions. If we get Dennis and Rich this year, it will send shock waves, just like getting Maggart did. the NRA put up $75K for that one, but it was foot leather that mad eht difference. Did you Dave, go to the 45th District a single time and walk the streets and knock on doors? I did for two months, I also put up my personal money, giving the maximum I could to Rogers campaign in both cycles because I felt it that important. The only real firearms Rights advocate that we had in the House was Judd Matheney, he put his political head on the block two years back and there was no support for him, Harwell took his Speaker Pro Tempore position and gave it to another of her lackeys. He is now an also ran, with no power. Now, as far as "bouncing" something about money off of John Harris, you are talking about things you have absolutely no knowledge of. As a representative of the TFA as you call it, I get as a benefit, to spend endless hours in my personal vehicle, burning my own gas to travel all over to speak to people, grassroots groups etc. who wish to learn the facts of legislation and what we need to do to get over the obstacles of the Establishment who seek simply to gain power and exert control, (that or the time I spend at the legislature, where I take my vacation to spend my gas to drive from Jackson to Nashville). It is what the politicians sell, access to the plebeians and venues to exert power to the powerful. You start throwing insinuations about money about, get ready to put some facts up, because it cost me plenty out of my pocket to do the things I do for the effort, believe you me, those boys in Nashville keep a close eye on me, they would love to shut me up, do they even know who you are? -
NJ Gun Law Critic Targeted By State Police

Showing up to "address" their suggested "intentional" obfuscation would be a basic admission of guilt to a spurious charge. I would make them come and get me too. From the article: -
NO guns allowed but still 28 dead

Wonder what the carnage would have been if each of the ten had used a pressure cooker? -
Reason I got into stainless/wet tumbling was an Old Hand at Nationals, he was an armorer who I never found to be wrong about anything. He turned me onto this long before it got to be cool, saying that cleaning the primer residue from inside the cases enhanced the life of the throats. Said primer residue (from inside the case body) blown down the bore was harder on barrels than anything.

Gun Rights, Can we make a difference for Tennessee?

No one in this State has the MONEY at the current time to offset the funds being thrown at the legislature to defeat such initiatives by The Chamber of Commerce, Volkswagen, Fed Ex, all the Big Business bastions. If we could get the 1.6 million hunters in the State to pony up $20.00 each to the TFA PAC we would be a force to be reckoned with. Money talks and BS walks, cash is the mother's milk of politics. Legislators tell me privatley that they know 39-17-1307 is unconstitutional, but their bosses, who collect and dole out the money, don't give a rat's hinney. -

Gun Rights, Can we make a difference for Tennessee?

Never said I was not for it, I have been pushing legislators for it for years. There are just not any that are going to try and pass it this year, or more truthfully, till Beth Harwell and Ron Ramsey are no longer Leadership, we can forget any substantive legislation coming out of Nashville. Only chance we have to change that is for me to win the lottery, at which point I can afford to buy my own legislators to pass the Public Chapters that we need here, or beat enough Establishment candidates to get their attention. I am afraid I am going to die before we can get there, as the lottery is out of the question, but I keep working at it. I tried to tell you what the deal was on this bill this year, it is a sham to try and save Vance Dennis's hinney, it was never meant to get out of a committee, it is fluff to fool the People with, and that is the message that needs to be given with respect to his proposed legislation. We have a candidate to beat him, and Barrett Rich as well. That is how we will eventually get there, by attrition of the Establishment. Beth Harwell has NEVER voted in favor of a firearms issue of consequence, as long as she is Speaker, the hill is high, she controls the caucus PAC. -
Gun Rights, Can we make a difference for Tennessee?

Now Robert, Dave seems to have a plan. I have recorded the Governor affirming he will sign the bill, and have in other threads, provided contact information for those who hold the future of the bill in hand. If they will but show how amenable the Gov. is to this line of thinking, surely there are forces that can convince our Supermajority of conservative, Republican, 2nd Amendment loving legislators to step back from this 144 year old travesty against our Rights. -

JayC and I did our part. We have the heavy lifting done, all we need now is the bill on his desk. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJ6ml6bRJJE&edit=vd -
I was very lucky, the smartest person I knew was my Grand Pa, the Old Marine had seen and done a lot of stuff. My Dad was busy working his hinney off trying to feed, cloth and educate 6 kids, Grand Pa was my bud. Taught me how to be patient, how to hunt, gather and fish for effect. Today's electronic world is not the same, more is the pity. I would do anything for his praise, and to escape disappointing him I decided not to do a lot of stupid stuff.

No, I responded to your question, did not trash anyone. I did not start this thread, but you posed a question, I thought my answer was valid, and don't remember even mentioning the officer in Connecticut. I can offer proof that I do my best to work with and reach out to our local LE, JPD, the Madison County Sheriff's Department, TWRA and our State Police. If you want contact names from the individuals I will supply them if you will PM me. But By God, I also hold them responsible to their oaths.

Past about 12 years old, the only people your kids are going to pay attention to is their friends (now with Common Core they are attempting government takeover of that span), better get your priorities instilled in them early.

1. America is capitalist and greedy – yet half of the population is subsidized. 2. Half of the population is subsidized – yet they think they are victims. 3. They think they are victims – yet their representatives run the government. 4. Their representatives run the government – yet the poor keep getting poorer. 5. The poor keep getting poorer – yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about. 6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about – yet they want America to be more like those other countries.

Could do like Sheriff Richard Mack in 1997 and refuse to enforce unconstitutional laws (Brady Bill), sue the Federal government if necessary, honor their oath to protect the Citizens of their State/County/City and interpose themselves between a rogue government and the people they have sworn to protect.

Gun confiscation is on the table in Conn.
Worriedman replied to jphillips63's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I agree that we need connection between the People and the politicians, but if you hold your breath waiting for 'them" to contact you (with the exception of when they want campaign donations) all you will get is blue. As per the first two Articles of our State Constitution: It is our (the People's) responsibility to make sure our employees know our interest and feelings about the business before them: -

Your entire post here is insightful and "spot on". If every Representative district in the State of TN had three very active, pro gun individuals who spent time keeping up with the legislature, were on a first name basis with their Reps., and communicated at least weekly with them, we could evidence a real change in the way things are done in Nashville. The mantra that we (average citizen) do not understand how legislation is "done" is so much horse supplied fertilizer. Their standard story that "legislation is like making sausage, everybody likes the result, but nobody wants to see the process" is condescending at best and self serving as their hope is that NO ONE pays any attention as they go about the machinations of serving the moneyed interest that feed them. Politicians love power, it is the commodity they sell. It is our job to shine light on that process and to understand the facts as they try their best to obfuscate the meaning of their actions and the vehicles used to pander to their masters, intentionally making it hard for the average individual to keep up. -
Parking Lot Storage Bill SB 1700
Worriedman replied to Gary Slider's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Correct, as of this time, SB1701 will pass as well, both being sponsored by Senator Mark Green, who is carrying them for the Administration (or Ramsey depending on one's view). It will somewhat re-define the vehicle portion (although poorly), as now it requires a person to own the vehicle he stores a weapon in to be legal. It really will make no difference either. Beavers amendment cured the problem, but, they said it fell outside the caption. Green intimates they will revisit next down, as we can not expect a first each time we snap the ball... -
