  1. 300, it is a step forward, it does not let you carry on your person, and it lets some who probably do not need to have a firearm in their vehicle have one. Had they spoken with someone with at least half sense I think that could have been adjusted to a better result.
  2. The "car carry" bill was passed without talking to anybody, that a 14 year old can carry a loaded AK 47 in their vehicle as a result shows how much the GA understands...talk about your not having any training...and knives are not guns, so in their (GA) mind it is not a big deal. Why next thing you know, they will legalize sticks in TN again...
  3. Well, we were able to get "Restaurant Carry" Passed two times in two years with Kent Williams as Speaker, back with a pretty much even-up House. Tell me that "Guns in Bars" would pass today?
  4. Sorry 300, but there is not one Representative on that sub-committee that would come anywhere near supporting this issue, not a single one. Well that is unfair I suppose, Curry Todd might, but I bet he will not.
  5. From the article: "In a major departure from past practice, many Tennessee House committees these days routinely go first behind closed doors for unannounced "pre-meetings" where they discuss pending bills before they come up for public consideration in committees and subcommittees." And: "But some lawmakers, staffers and lobbyists complain such meetings have become standard practice in the House after Republicans won firm control of the chamber in 2010." We got far more done with a divided House and Ken Williams as Speaker... http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/politics/state/story/2015/mar/17/closed-meetings-tn-capitol-called-complete-betrayal-open-government/293765/
  6. Haslam was grasping at the chance to gain National attention by forcing Medicaid Expansion in a Southern Conservative State.  He purchased the seat at the head of the Republican Governors Assn. and has achieved Obama's Most Favored Republican Governor Status. Haslam has the centrist bona fides he and the milquetoast squishy Moderate Republicans think necessary to win, if they can just import enough entitlement seeking newbies to gain power, whilst holding on to the Conservatives.  They know it is time to change ends of the court. He is headed to the Senate, having time there gives him international experience if he kisses enough rump to get the correct committee assignments, (and he will) he already has time in the saddle as an administrator of a State, (a large bureaucracy).  He will have enough money to run, and has ties to the chamber as their boy to garner their help.  He has the chips from running a huge company, so the business folks will fawn. Anybody that does not see the steps being taken does not want to.
  7. Could it be that Lamar gets a bone in his leg, and billy appoints himself, then he can save a ton on the first run, plus it is a gimmy and he need the spot on his resume for that jump to Prez...
  8. Every breath he has taken since he ran for Mayor in Knoxville has been focused on the White House. Mayor-Governor-Senator, all the right steps in all the right places, and with a personal $2 Billion and having his lips firmly ensconced on the rump of the Chamber, he is climbing the ladder to sucksess!
  9. The weight of the GA came down on his shoulders, and he was forced to kill his own bill, again this year. Of course he could resurrect it, but I am not putting any money on that happening. Witha fiscal note the current running bill will be put behind the bidget in finance, stick a fork in it.
  10. I got out of a meeting late, did Womick roll his bill?
  11. Made Goins roll his bill to the heel, and it had no fiscal note, so that means finance can kill the other one and we are done for another year.
  12. They are hearing them in the House now, Coley is killing them one right after the next.
  13. Made it out of civil Justice yesterday.  This one may go as John Stevens is the sponsor in the Senate, and he is an Establishment guy.  Goins' bill is getting kicked to the curb and they are letting Stevens and Harrison take credit.  It can not be because Harrison is the House Sponsor, he has tinkled on firearms issues forever, was in fact instrumental in killing Goins' bill last year.
  14. Only going to hear one gun bill today if I heard correctly, everything "rolled" to last calendar is dead,  Beavers rolled her bills 3 weeks, will take some time tomorrow to figure out, but I will report back as soon as the smoke clears.
  15. Heard from a friend on the Hill today, Haslam has the minions out letting folks know that he and his'n are opposing Constitutional Carry, and that we might as well pack up and trundle off back to the house...
  16. TDEC has recently proved to be a tool for the governor. last year it was Department of Homeland Security, this year TDEC.  DHS lied last year, TDEC this year, taking a page from his friend Barack and "redistribution of blame".
  17. They passed one bill our of the Civil Justice sub last week, the one that Harrison (he has always been very anti-gun) and Sen John Stevens have on parks.  go figure...
  18. Seems that it does away with the circle and slash "gun buster" sign.  Makes a place that wants to post, really post.
  19. I have not seen that information, where did you get that tidbit?  My understanding as of yesterday, (Wednesday ) they were still on notice for the 11th at 3:00 PM.
  20. List of the Civil Justice Sub-Committee, in my opinion, the make up does not lend itself to passage of our issues, but pleasant rejoinders asking for support are in order.   Representative Carson W. (Bill) Beck (D) rep.bill.beck@capitol.tn.gov (615) 741-3229 Representative Mike Carter (R) rep.mike.carter@capitol.tn.gov (615) 741-3025 Representative Sherry Jones (D) rep.sherry.jones@capitol.tn.gov (615) 741-2035 Representative Jon Lundberg (R) rep.jon.lundberg@capitol.tn.gov (615) 741-7623 Representative Leigh Wilburn (R) mailto:rep.leigh.wilburn@capit.tn.gov (615) 741-6890 Chairman Jim Coley (R) rep.jim.coley@capitol.tn.gov  (615) 741-8201
  21. It is, on a first come first in basis.  You will have to show up early, lobbyist arrive and take the best seats, the better glare at the legislators...
  22. We as citizens have a finite window to impress on our own elected representatives our wish for them to co-sponsor these bills (if any are in favor of them). Numbers of co-sponsors shows Leadership the mood of the body.  Now is the time to write, call and visit your Representatives and Senators if you are of a mind to be involved and not just let Beth and Bill make all the decisions for you. Leadership has made the decision to force all firearms bills to run at one time, as far as I am concerned, contaminating their vaunted "Committee" system with the stain of partisan, paid for politics.  Speak now, or forever hold your peace.
