  1. It is important that as many as can, contact his office and let him know your thoughts. As a member of the Civil Justice sub committee, he not only represents his district, but the entire State. Members of the GA take that responsibility on when they accept appointments to such committees. If he is not publicly chastised he will be emboldened. We have important bills in his sub committee and full committee this week, he needs to be contacted, often...
  2. Simple answer, Beth Harwell and Glen Casada, Bill Haslam and Bill Lee. The Governor sends out their "team" and tells the Speakers what they will allow and what not to pass. We have been working on those issues you mention non stop from our side, we just have had no help from the Establishment. One must needs to have sponsors willing to put their positions in the Caucus on the line, a Speaker willing to put their thumb on the scale in our direction by assigning such legislation to the committees where their appointed chairs will move a bill along. We are hoping that Sexton's desire for the Governors seat in '26 is impetuous enough to at least get some movement. I welcome suggestions to achieve these goals you reference.
  3. Department of Safety sent a squad to the Sponsor's office to try and insist he pull the bill. Their stance was that they (most likely Commissioner Jeff Long and his sidekick Terry Ashe) did not want people walking around with AKs and ARs (even though 37 other states allow loaded long gun carry sans permits and 2 others with a permit). When he showed them a picture of an AR Pistol and told them it was legal now to carry the same action with a short barrel, easily concealable, they told him no, you could not...and yes, you can. Would I, no, but can I legally, yes indeed. Were they trying to bluff, or are they that uneducated as to the facts?
  4. Both the news and those law enforcement agencies, who have taken an oath to defend your rights under the constitution, are MISREPRESENTING or LYING about what this bill does. There is a law already on the books in Tennessee TCA 39-17-1350, which is the subject of this bill, that addresses one issue and that is the capacity of OFF DUTY law enforcement officers to carry in certain gun free zones. Keep in mind, Tennessee's supreme court has said that OFF DUTY law enforcement are not some category of super citizen, they are simply citizens like everyone else They have the right to defend their lives and they have arrest powers (if they opt to use them) BUT citizens also have statutory arrest powers in Tennessee! So, this bill says that those civilians who have the ENHANCED PERMIT would be entitled to the same exceptions relative to gun free zones as are OFF DUTY officers. The bill DOES NOT make citizens law enforcement officers, off duty officers or government officials. All it does is provide that if an off duty officer OFF DUTY can carry in a gun free zone then so can an enhanced permit holder. This is just another example of the elitism of these law enforcement administrators - a mentality that says government officials and government agents are BETTER than other citizens even when they are off duty or in some instances retired. This is a bill that requires a big push from the almost 750,000 permit holders in the state! Also, if you have ever donated money to a sheriff, to the sheriff's association or the chiefs of police association or even the FOP --- STOP IT!!!! They don't support your constitutional rights even after taking an oath to do so. And, as legislators stated on the record last year in committee hearings - they have at least a 28 year history of fighting to keep you from exercising your 2nd Amendment rights in Tennessee.
  5. Brandon, or Andy Ogles who is currently Williamson County Mayor? He would have to stave off Speaker Sexton's run for that seat, and with evidence like posted above, I can not believe the great unwashed in Tennessee would put Brandon in that position.
  6. During the presentation for HB 1735, the bill that takes permitted and permitless carry down to the Constitutional age of 18, these were the comments by Rep. Ogles (R Franklin) I attempted to have a meeting with him afterwards to discuss the difference in his understanding and the facts of the Constitution with respect to the issue of the 2nd Amendment and the meaning of the words but he did not have time... I sent him a treatise on the use and meaning of the term well regulated at the time of the Founding, but he has not responded. This was his take on the issue: Rep. Brandon Ogles on 2nd Amendment.
  7. You would have to speak to the Legal Department, they write all legislation.
  8. Dept., of Safety asked the sponsor to Roll the bill a week, not sure why...37 States allow open carry of loaded long guns, 2 that allow with permits. We did not win our Liberty with handguns only, TN is known for its Riflemen in the quest for Freedom, Kings Mountain, Horseshoe Bend, New Orleans...John Sevier, John Coffee, William Carroll, David Crockett, Alvin York and a host of others, most with their personal rifles who stood in defense of our State and Nation, most as Volunteers who took their Right to long guns from tyrants who would deny them.
  9. And I do not disagree. I am a proponent of all the training one can afford, with class and ammo cost being somewhat restrictive. If they would let me, I would attend the POST Certification training, I have the time now and am sure with the overburdened tax in TN I have paid for it already.
  10. And yet, we allow operators of 3500 lb. missals to "train" at 16 and drive the rest of their lives across a yellow or white line from us without additional instruction or training.. Further, aliens that have have no training and can't read the language of the road signs populate that list of operators with impunity.
  11. Headed up to Nashville to seek support for HB 1898 today as it is in Civil Sub. This is an important bill. 44 other States allow non criminals to carry long guns legally, this a great first step to achieving that goal in Tennessee.
  12. I know a lot of LEOs and not a single one leaves the house without a firearm, or two. As we must live in a world governed by the TCA Code, to affect change it has to be dealt with. Granted the Vanderbilt staffers have botched up the summary as the bill simply adds Enhanced Permit holders to the "class" listed in 1350 as off duty, which does not give them "police powers" as they are and have been decried mere Citizens when off duty. That is the focus of the bill, liberal reading of it notwithstanding. Liberals like to twist words and meaning to achieve a goal of suppression of Rights.
  13. Somebody is looking to get enhanced permit carriers the ability to carry where certain special groups who are held to be only Citizens by the Supreme Court of Tennessee (Off duty Officers) can.
  14. HB 2850 by Kumar Firearms and Ammunition - As introduced, requires the department of safety to create a voucher program for the purpose of providing a handgun safety course to purchasers of handguns at no cost to the handgun purchaser; limits the value of the voucher to $30. - Amends TCA Title 4 and Title 39. This is a terrible piece of legislation, giving the State a record of new gun purchases.

  15. HB 2087 by White Firearms and Ammunition - As introduced, creates the offense of storing a firearm or firearm ammunition in a motor vehicle or boat while the person is not in the motor vehicle or boat unless the firearm or firearm ammunition is kept from ordinary observation and locked within the trunk, utility or glove box, or a locked container securely affixed to the motor vehicle or boat; requires the owner of a firearm to report the loss or theft of the firearm to law enforcement within 24 hours of the discovery of the loss or theft. - Amends TCA Title 39, Chapter 17, Part 13. With friends like this, who needs enemies?
  16. This needs to pass, I feel good about the House, we need a push in the Senate, contact the Senate sponsor, Paul Bailey and let him know we need this now. Phone: (615) 741-3978 sen.paul.bailey@capitol.tn.gov
  17. A lot of pushback from DAs across the State. I have to keep asking them, did anybody do anything to the prosecutor in the Rittenhouse case? I keep hearing a lot about an "Ethical" duty to do what this bill would statutorily require, but not a single DA can show me where it exist.
  18. Had a chance to do an interview with Chairman John Ragan from over your way. He seems to be an outstanding individual. I had never even spoken to him before, but he appears to be made of the Right Stuff! https://www.buzzsprout.com/1579723?client_source=large_player&iframe=true&limit=20&referrer=https://www.buzzsprout.com/1579723.js?player=large&limit=20&container_id=buzzsprout-large-player-1579723-limit-20#

  20. Courtrooms for one, anyplace posted or where you are asked to leave if firearm is noticed. Airplanes.
  21. That is incorrect, only POST certified may apply, the rub is you have to be sent to that school by a LE organization. A lot of good administrators are precluded from running for what was always a political office. I think anyone should be able to run and then if they can pass the school, take office. It was only 200+ years that was the rule in TN. More Police State control of the Citizen. https://www.tn.gov/content/dam/tn/commerce/documents/post/resources/Sheriff_TCA_Qualifications.pdf
