  1. They realized they had the mic live, and turned it off. Wonder which Rep. is having lunch with Jeff Fisher today?
  2. I understand there are to be at least three more sessions of the full House. It is also my understanding that the House WILL override the veto, but it might just take till next week to accomplish that. If the session tomorrow is not the last one, (and I do not believe it will be), then the 24 hour notice rule is in effect, unless they vote to suspend the rules, which I do not believe anybody wants to do. However, if they make their mind up that tomorrow is the last session, then they do not have to suspend the rules and can vote that day.
  3. Knoxville parks are off limits due to an older law that the City Council chose not to challange, leaving a $50.00 fine as the penalty for breaking their law. Surely most have seen Mayor Haslam's statement that he is "proud" that Knoxville is the only large municipality in the State to have no criminal penalty for a licensed Hand Gun Carry Permit holder violating the law. From his written answers on tennessean.com Tennessee Governor's Race, 2010
  4. Are you saying I could file suit against the Health Care Bill and stop it till a court rules on the case?
  5. No, Bill was vetoed by the Governor, is in the process of being overridden, has taken place in the Senate, up for consideration in the House this week.
  6. I would think, that as there is a ton of precedent showing that ILLEGAL guns are carried into establishments that serve alcohol, for this suit to have any merit, there would by necessity, have to be a method to preclude ALL firearms from the establishment excepting those carried by the Owners, their assigns and LE. Only way to be sure of that would be metal detectors at each entrance, and a staff trained and present at all times to work the equipment, and require pat downs of each patron upon entry. Having been in a few places in Mexico that had these requirements, it places a huge burden on the venue to preclude violations. Then, should a shooting occur, the establishment would be under additional scrutiny for failure to provide efficient screening. Part of the argument used in previous court actions is the notion that the establishments do not want the onus to check every patron, but if they go with the "unsafe workplace" they would be default, have to check every person entering.
  7. A set of jumper cables walks in to the local spot, all sparky and kind of aggressive, slaps a clamp on the the bar and demands a drink. Bartenders says "OK, but don't start anything."
  8. House has to be in session for the clerk to read the notice:
  9. House was adjourned prior to the vote taking place in the Senate. If you view the video, you can see Rep. Todd in the Senate Chamber behind Jackson as he is making his remarks. Full session in the House is Wednesday, but due to Budgetary concerns, the House will have sessions Thursday and Friday at a minimum.
  10. Thursday at best, no one seems to want to suspend the rules so that it can be voted on the same day, the "Rules" state notice must be posted, then 24 hours must elapse prior to voting, unless it is the last day of the session.
  11. You can co-opt a few to file suit to show standing, remember last year in the Bonnyman debacle, it was the HCP holders who joined the suit that gave the impetuous for her to rule as she did. This one can get filed, but it will not hold up.
  12. Pleasantly surprised that there is still some recognition of the sacrifice on all our behalf by our Armed Forces. YouTube - Thank You Soldiers - Veteran's Day/Memorial Day Song
  13. Let's be sure we grab the kids and run anytime LEO are in the vicinity, those evil guns have a bad habit of going off all by themselves. That should teach our children something!
  14. Herron was absent, must have not thought the day's business important enough to show up.
  15. So, my thoughts are that if Curry Todd (the House sponsor) files a "typewritten notice" of the fact that the Senate overrode the veto any time before 24 hours before the session, he can move on June 2nd when the House goes back in session that the bill be passed notwithstanding the veto, the vote is taken, and when it passes, we have a law. No more notice is required than the 24 hours. Is that how you all read it? I am afraid that the House must be in session for the execution of: I hope I am wrong, and they can kick this pig on Wednesday.
  16. The House has the same rules as the Senate with respect to an override, they have to post notice, and wait 24 Hrs. to vote, unless last day of session, then the "rule" is automatically suspended. As it looks now, there will be several more sessions in the House, as they seem to be nowhere near an agreement on the Budget. It will be at least Monday before they can take up the override, as there will not be 24 hours separation for a short session in the House tomorrow, If the Senate gets it done today.
  17. Good to know. Thanks for the info. Trying to get my Senator to call me back and give me the skinny. He is being hard to contact today though.
  18. No full session scheduled in the Senate today, Hmmmm, that is different from what I was told last week, but... They do have a session on the calender for tomorrow, but there is no mention of SB 3012. I can not get a straight answer from anybody, like that is a surprise. Veto override can be transfered and notice put up same day to the House, but unless they suspend the rules, it will be Monday now before the House could vote, unless it is the Last day of the session, then the 24 hour rule does not apply. Got to get it out of the Senate first, regardless.
  19. I am amazed at that response. If you had not been drinking, or using illegal drugs, or prescription drugs when you should not have, and were simply nervous over being in the presence of a LEO? And you think that is reason to run you in?? I would not have given the man with the switchblade any lip. I am not in the OP's position of possibly loosing my ability to go on with my intended Military career, so my end action would have been much different. (I have the four months to work with the system, granted) I would have gone for the blood test, and then we would have found out just how much further we had to go to get this spurious situation corrected. The OP was on the horns of a dilemma, the horns I would have been dealing with would have been of the locked style. Had speeding been on the original paperwork filed by the officer, that would be one thing, but is was not posted that it was, and how one gets from DUI to speeding is a curious occurrence. I have seen a similar situation, where a bad stop was turned to a speeding rap when it was not so. It appears THIS situation was one of revenue collection, not Public Safety, as was my earlier involvement of a similar nature. I do not believe that the majority of LE operates like this, and believe it is top driven. This should be chased all the way up the tree.
  20. The only ones who will be armed are the ones stationed around Falcon Lake, to make sure they can stop any Texans from shooting back at the "pirates".
