  1. The above is true only if you believe that time is not money. Full disclosure: I disagree with that premise. SEIU and NFSCME were instrumental in electing our president. They have been very active since, as well: Remember all those purple shirts agitating for healthcare? SEIU. Remember the black guy who got roughed up by purple-shirted assailants outside the St. Louis town hall? SEIU. To deny reality and say unions don't contribute directly to campaigns and political causes is completely irrational and without merit. They simply do it with undocumented in-kind donations of time and manpower, which cannot be accounted for under current rules. I'll still read your posts, OhShoot, but I respectfully disagree.
  2. Ironically, a good place to be armed.
  3. At most, I would have made $900. Nice, but not that nice, so I'll be staying. I have yet to visit another country that doesn't make me want to be back home within 5 days, so I guess it's a tradeoff. Unfair gambling rules > Anywhere else

For the people who only know Zeppelin from classic rock stations, the album disappoints them. Way too "acoustic" and experimental. To these people, I say: [redacted]

I'll check it out. Old school thrash is where it's at. Thanks for the link.
  6. For #2, I have a contractor buddy that swears by Home Depot in the mornings. He goes in daily after his first cup of coffee and dip o' the Skoal.
  7. Goes well with this: Wait...THIS is a knife: /Insert three wolf knife jokes here.jpg
  8. It's already been proven that a simple net is enough to defeat them.

That is a fine avatar, Sr. Duke. Send my regards to your Samoan lawyer.

Pandora is where it's at, once you've got your station trained properly. It will definitely pee on the rug early in the process. Also, an open invitation: any alleged Zeppelin fan who doesn't like "Led Zeppelin III" is welcome to come to my house anytime at all...so I can push them down the stairs.
  11. Jail him now!
  12. Thanks, Volzfan. I found that one, but was hoping to get the "Otter only" version, which apparently doesn't exist. And yes, despite having seen that movie eleventy times, I still watched the clip again.
  13. The drawback to Stones River is that at $5.50, it attracts a few folks that necessitate the "Range Nazis", especially on weekends when the weather is nice. I've been happy to have the RSOs on more than one occasion, since they tend to nip stupid in the bud before it turns into reckless endangerment. My appreciation of them increased greatly after reading TGO accounts of the RSO-less TWRA range in Cheatham Co., and the unsafe conditions that have developed unchecked. A great time to go out to Stones River is Friday afternoon - I've been the only person on the range there before, and chatted up the RSOs a bit. The ones I met sure seemed like good men and women. They've always been courteous to me, at any rate. If you're only looking to plink, and not practice draw and fire or such (holstered weapons are not allowed at TWRA sites by rule), it's a good place to shoot.
  14. Crickets: "chirp...chirp...chirp" I love the humor of TGO - it's one of the reasons I read all this stuff, so I can't figger this...how does the above quote not get used for juvenile and sophomoric purposes? YouTube has failed me, yet again. This was the place to embed the "No...Bluto's right. [something, Insane maybe?], but right. What this situation requires is a pointless and stupid gesture to be made..." speech from Animal House.
  15. done for now /I could have done 100 album titles, but who wants to read that? Also, I don't need flak for trying to pad post counts.
  16. post total increasing...

  21. I put TruGlow TFOs on my XDm 9mm, and can't recommend them enough. Yes, they're pricier than straight tritium night sights, but you also get the benefit of having fiber optic sights in medium to bright light. Check them out before you decide on what sights to buy. They'll run another $40-50, but if the gun is a keeper over the long term, I think the money is well-spent.
  22. I'm on the shelf due to torn hip cartilage (I think the hockey addiction may be worse than the gun addiction, and even more expensive over the long run), but if you want to play after May of this year, let me know. I used to be good, now I just enjoy the walk.
  23. They like the low prices and large selection, and they are legion. I've got no problem with Wal-Mart or its patrons, but my local store is just too crowded, at any normal hour of the day. If I came across as condescending in any way, my apologies. I've just never been one to enjoy jostling through crowds, and if I have to pay slightly more to get my TP and laundry detergent from Publix, that's a tradeoff I'll accept. I know better than to intentionally insult Wal-Mart, and their shoppers, on a message board full of Tennesseans. I might as well then insult Jesus and Neyland, just to hit the trifecta and ensure I'd be forced to leave this state under armed guard, in the dead of night.
  24. I think I'll save the lessons in patience for reruns of "Kung Fu". I am big into learning, but if I have to go into a Wal-Mart that serves 100k people (as does Cool Springs), you can chisel this in stone -I am skipping that class. "sweaty, nervous, and tugging at your piece" may be one of the best phrases ever. It made me picture a creepy coworker hiding behind a shrub.
  25. No Wally carry for this guy. The Cool Springs Wal-Mart puts me in a murdering kind of mind every time I go. I'm not overly fond of my fellow man, and being in a crowd of 800 of them who "For the Love of God - could you please walk faster? We'll have flying *^^%&* cars by the time I get out of this hellhole!" just rub me the wrong way for some reason is not the best idea.
