That's what TV and newspapers are for. I'd go through all the linkage, but it's easier to let everybody copy and paste, ya know? If they like a site, they'll "favorite it", and never have to do it again.

The web has given us a ton of news and information sources, some of them good, most of them crap. Here's a few I like (all are right-leaning, sorry to any lefties on TGO, if they exist): drudgreport.com weeklystandard.com (straight news) nationalreview.com (straight news) hotair.com (sometimes funny, mostly news) ace.mu.nu (often hilarious, mostly news, profanity used frequently in posts and comments) blackfive.net (politics and the military) thisainthell.com (politics and the military) iowahawk.typepad.com (funniest satirist on the internet) michaelyon-online.com (freelance war reporter...just read his stuff, it's amazing) What are you reading, and why?

That makes two of us...I'm just hoping for anything that resembles a defense.

My understanding is that the law was written to challenge the commerce clause, and is made to take to court, ultimately the Supreme Court, should they decide to hear it. The state (and the NRA, very explicitly) will not be defending individuals who decide to test the waters themselves.

I posted in this thread first, but since you were reading my thoughts faster than I can type them, the other (your) thread was started before I could finish here. I cannot compete with your keyboard ninjitsu. I also really regret that I have a telepathic connection with a 61 year-old gun guy and not a 24 year-old swimsuit model. Nothing against you, but that's rough luck any way you look at it.

1. Sometimes a pointy stick isn't available. 2. If it stops working, you can toss it and get another without hurting the beer fund. 3. You're polishing your amateur gunsmith skills. 4. You want to pistol-whip somebody, but don't care to spend too much money doing it.

Clearly, the OP prefers guns that work. My avatar indicates that I am biased in this respect, though. To each his own, but for the price of 2 Hi-Points, you could buy one weapon with a better reputation and experience less frustration. That said, Hi-Point's customer service seems to have a great reputation. TGO thread that will never happen: "[Glock / XD / M&P / S&W Revolver / 1911 / Kahr / Walther / Pointy Stick] vs. Hi-Point - What should I get?"

If this list ever gets around, I'm guessing it won't help the record sales of alleged "country musicians"* Terri Clark and Shania Twain. Sadly, I'd guess that fans of their music are too far gone to notice. Ugh. When you're to the left of the Dixie Chicks on 2A, you better pray you are ready to retire if anyone notices. *I say "alleged" because if that's country, I'm from Jupiter. As Robbie Fulks said in his song "F### This Town"..."That ain't country western, it's just soft-rock feminist crap!". Best anti-Nashville song ever, although Dale Watsons' "Nashville Rash" isn't bad.

This is mainly the "Band of Brothers" team, but they're working from very different source material. The "making of..." I saw the other day hints that they'll be following three different soldiers before, during, and after the war, all of whom kept journals and wrote books. Expect more human interest, backstory, and much more focus on the main characters than "Band of Brothers", since nobody in the 506 PIR kept a memoir with tons of detail. I can't tell from the stuff I've seen whether or not the three main characters are together, or whether there will be three separate stories in the series told concurrently.

Worth calling in...he used to be on in Nashville (the ill-fated 104.5 as more than a sports station episode), and from my experience is a facilitator of conversation more than anything. Very little of his personal belief system comes through (until the traditional family structure and raising kids comes up, in which case he is passionate). Unless he's changed his style with the station change, callers should be treated fairly. My preditction is this: many pro-HCP callers who can't articulate why they have HCPs (with the occasional exception), many anti-gunners who angrily dispute the previous based on emotion (no exceptions), and a couple crackpots who call Mr. Hill's blackness into account for allowing the mostly white pro-gun folks airtime. Decent radio, if nothing else.

I am definitely interested. If the trigger is better than other pocket guns, I'm in.

The truly awful "Max Payne" movie (it started as a videogame) was a giant ad for the Judge. Mark Wahlberg uses a judge in the first action scene against a couple BGs, and the credits roll against close-ups of weapons. The Judge is featured prominently, and there are a couple tight shots of the "Taurus" engraved on the barrel so everybody knows who made it. Ironically, Marky Mark did most of his killing in the movie with a magic shotgun - it had a neat feature where racking it filled up the tube, so you never run out of shells. The MP5 and Beretta 92 also made frequent appearances, if my memory is correct.

This is totally old news. Physicists have already found that the normal half-life decay of radioactive particles, while normally being so predictable it could be etched in stone, can be stopped with the addition of Botox in the case of Pelosium. The benefit of their findings has been mixed, however. While Botulinum Toxin has been proven to prevent the apparent decay of Pelosium, studies are unclear as to whether the preservative effect actually enhances the longevity of the element. According to Edwin Sparks, a physicist with the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory "Our early experimental results indicate that the effects of Botox, while preserving a soulless husk of a human being, at least regarding the exterior, may actually increase the risk of the interior becoming a dried-out harridan incapable of human interaction or empathy. We're still in trials, but the results are promising." Further tests are forthcoming, as the JPL has received a grant from the IPCC to study the interaction of Pelosium and Botox with regards to Global Warming.

SCOTUS to hear important gun case on March 2nd...
StPatrick replied to Zulu Cowboy's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Eapking, The "friendly 5" took a strict constitunialist interpretation when judging McCain-Feingold. If the 4 known "dead document" justices (Roberts, Scalia, Thomas, and Alito) can get that 5th vote, who will most likely be Kennedy, the outcome will be in our favor. No matter how you feel about campaign finance, pray that their coalition stays intact for McDonald v. Chicago. If Kennedy flips and votes with Souter, Bader-Ginsberg, Sotomayor, and Stevens, the RKBA will be set back immeasuribly. On guns, Kennedy is a coin flip. The man is a weathervane, so there's no telling where he'll land. With four strong constructionists v. four "living document" justices, he's the vote that will decide the issue. I equally look forward to, and fear greatly, the June ruling. Buy ammo, and hope that we can burn it off in celebration come June. -
Working for a company banning weapons on property.

Whatever your opinion on the subject, we all can use this link to make our voices heard: Legislators - TN General Assembly Enter your address, and it will provide you with links to your state Rep and Senator. Personally, I want the option of keeping a weapon in the car, since I commute 25 miles each way from Franklin to Nashville five days a week, and don't appreciate being disarmed Monday through Friday. I've seen some good suggestions in the previous posts on how to make that happen without disenfranchising employers of their rights, and I hope that the pro-2A crowd can come together to provide an option for keeping weapons safely in cars, without infringing on the rights of employers or employees. National politics is what gets the blood boiling, and is the most interesting, but the county and state level is much more easily changed, and impacts your lives on a daily basis. Start from the ground up. -
Fiscal Nightmare that is our national debt

"The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money" -Alexis De Tocqueville, "Democracy in America", 1835 My guess is congress figured it out right around when Woodrow Wilson was elected. ~1920 was the time when big labor became a political force, Keynes' economic theories became popular, and the Bolsheviks were successful in a "peoples' " revolution. -
Between 1954 and 1980, the US and Taiwan were allied by treaty, which declared that the US would defend Taiwan in the case of invasion or attack. Carter ended the arrangement shortly before the end of his presidency, as a result of the normalization of relations with China. Some historical and moral sentiment still exists to suggest that the US should aid Taiwan, but there's no rules anymore regarding the relationship that I'm aware of. While my gut says fight communism whenever it steps outside its borders, my head reminds me that I was never military, and China is an economic house of cards with nukes. Right now, the only thing protecting Taiwan is the debt-based suicide pact we have with the Chinese - if either country goes down, the other follows.

Careful, Chuck. I'm pretty sure that F.A. Hayek is banned in Memphidishu, as are your old canvas shoes. Both are lacking the air-filled voids which are so in fashion these days.

And from the infamous "Joe Namath was wasted on TV with Suzy Kolber" episode:

This interview, with a Pakistani girl whose family is affiliated with the Taliban, was run by the BBC. The Talibs are an affront to humanity. Only people with an apocalyptic and suicidal worldview could be willing to kill their own children. Remember this when you hear some talking head on TV, or someone you meet, talk about reconciliation, cultural understanding, and tolerance. If they compare the "crimes" of the US to these animals, as if they are apples-to-apples comparisons, show them this story. In this country, unlike theirs, we don't kill gays, adulterers, thieves, or religious converters (what they call "apostates"), and our kids don't serve as bomb-delivery devices. :there's no smiley for utter revulsion: BBC News - Bombs and beatings: Life among the Taliban

If this works, here's a modern summary of the "spend our way out" Keynesians vs. Hayek, and his "save for real growth" school. I think it's funny, but then again, I'm weird. http://cafehayek.com/2010/01/keynes-vs-hayek-rap-video.html Second half is Hayek FTW.

If you are passionate about freedom, and recognize that your freedom to earn and produce are part and parcel of that ideal, it's time to educate yourself (if you haven't yet): Amazon.com: Free to Choose: A Personal Statement (9780156334600): Milton Friedman, Rose Friedman: Books Friedman writes conversationally, and any layperson (I'm one) can understand his ideas. Read it now. Here's the original basis for Friedman's writings: Amazon.com: The Road to Serfdom: Text and Documents--The Definitive Edition (The Collected Works of F. A. Hayek) (9780226320557): F. A. Hayek, Bruce Caldwell: Books There has never been a more complete or devastating explanation of how collectivism destroys personal freedom. It's more academic, but well worth the read. Hayek earned the 1974 Nobel prize in economics for his ideas, put forth primarily in this short (< 200 pages) book. Many TGO readers are all about training of the mind and body to prepare for SD situations. Reading these books and ingraining their principles are the same thing. Much like winning a gunfight, understanding the principles in these two books will prepare you to win in a fight of ideas, except that in a gunfight you can be right and still lose. Anger is not enough - ideas and minds are the ammo in this battle. /professor mode off, [/geek]

I didn't write this, but it seems appropriate.

Surely our benevolent and harmonious friends of much like and respect in China will pick up the slack, right? -
There is nothing more awful and anti-freedom than a trial that is only designed to deliver a guilty verdict. By eliminating the possibility of the defendants being judged "not guilty" and thus allowed to walk away, our entire legal system is stained. This entire process is a major pooch-screw, which will allow the rest of the world the opportunity to scream about the inequities of our system of justice, should the defendants be returned to indefinite detention or military custody. All the while, the screamers will forget to mention that their heroes, such as Chavez, Morales, Jibao, the Castro brothers, et al., do much worse to common political dissenters, whereas the US reserves such treatment for killers and terrorists engaged in war with our country. Way to set up a good old fashioned "lose-lose" there, Holder! I hope Eric is ready to dive under the bus when it's his time to go, once the president has to sacrifice another one of his pals to preserve what little leadership value he has left in the kitty.
