www.luckygunner.com can be good depending on what is in stock. Anybody know of good deals on .45acp 230gr FMJ?

In order to not start a new thread (I get all my notifications re: PMs, subscribed threads, etc.), I'll post this here: I did not receive a notification that my "benefactor" status has expired. It's not a big deal, and I'll re-up, but I thought David and the mods should know.

The "Mayan Riviera" (Cancun / Playa del Carmen / Cozumel) used to be very safe and protected, but the gangs are even starting to get active down there now. It's a shame, as Cozumel has some of the best SCUBA diving in the world. I regret that I may never get to go back, but as others have said, I'm quite fond of my head remaining in its current location.

For my last purchase, I used www.impactguns.com . Good results.

It's not in Franklin yet, and the air doesn't smell like snow, so whatever is coming is a ways off.

They don't see the orange? Please explain - and understand I'm not trying to be an Internet dick, just curious how that works.

Tim, Any thoughts as to why I'm experiencing weak ejections, then? I'm convinced that the recoil spring must be replaced (Kimber recommends every 800 rounds, and I'm a bit past that), but if it's not the spring, mags, or ammo (all ruled out), is it definitely the extractor, or is there something else to be considered? Thanks, Patrick

Do you reload? .243 is a very versatile round if that's the case - "mild to wild" is the phrase, I think. An old friend of mine has taken deer at ~600 with his own reloads (in WI, where long shots are common), so coyote would be no problem at that range, though the practice and load building would be quite difficult in our fair state, since there isn't a flat spot to be found.

Also, The Armory had a very good price on an Armory-Kote Springfield TRP (not the full-on FBI super deluxe model, but still a fine piece of hardware), at $1499. I found the same gun online at $1489; after shipping and transfer fees, you could come out pretty close to the online price, and take it home right away. Good on them for that. Friendly people staffing their booth as well.

I call that pure awesome. Congrats to you! Based on what I saw, this particular show had a better selection of Smith revolvers than I can recall ever seeing. I regret that there were no good deals on a 617, because I would have taken one home. It seems like once a shooter owns a good .22, they never give them up. I went with my father this morning, who hasn't owned a pistol since he gave his up when I was born; I wanted him to check out what was available. Not sure which way he'll go yet, but it looks like he is leaning Sig P220 (he's pretty set on .45). I'm a big Sig fan, so I'm all in favor, but I was disappointed that M&P 45s weren't available this morning. With all the positive reviews on the M&P .45, I hope he considers it as well. Today was a very good day to pick up a surplus Enfield...saw several that weren't "collector grade", but were in great shape for shooting - I'm not sure how, but I managed to not take one home. Saw several nice '03 A3s as well, but it appears the Garand market has gone insane. I'll wait to get one of those via CMP. So, what internet prize do I win for not buying something at the show? My wallet was itching badly, but I'm trying to save for a good safe, and possibly reloading equipment.

As long you all are helping answer my questions, here's another: Why does Kimber specify a 22lb spring in commander sized guns, while other mfgs run lighter?
-
Thanks for the FP stop info. I did a basic extractor tension check, and it looks fine. If the new recoil spring doesn't do the job, that is something I can consider when troubleshooting further. As posted earlier, I doubt that the extractor is the issue, but I wanted to be prepared if it was. Also, could someone provide a good explanation of "clocking"? I can't answer some of the questions posed until I understand the context.

According to Nashville NBC, most of the state will get 2" or less...only the 'Nooga area is looking at more. Despite that, I feel i must go to the store tomorrow for bread, milk, and eggs...and all that in spite of the fact that I consume more meat, beer, diet Dr. Pepper, and salad than any of the previously mentioned staples.

Is there any real advantage to upgrading to one of the Ed Brown "hardcore" parts? I'm a bit skeptical on whether they provide any real value.

Since I'm a Bears fan, Go Eagles! I hate the Eagles, but I'd love to see what the Bear defense does to poor lil' Seattle.

Between myself and the original owner, approximately 1k. Rounds frequently eject weakly, straight up, instead of briskly and off to the side, like God and JMB intended. I've had more than a few land pieces of spent brass land on my hat. Along with that, there have been a few failures to feed / return fully to battery (WWB FMJ, not a feed ramp issue). I've already ruled out magazine spring or follower issues, so that leaves the recoil spring or the extractor. Replacement springs are on the way from Wolff, and if they don't fix the issues, I'll need to replace the extractor. Based on what others have posted so far, Ed Brown is leading that race, and it looks like I'll be able to do it myself.
-
I'm starting to see some weak and erratic extraction, so it's time to replace my (internal) extractor. Two questions for those with actual firsthand knowledge: 1. What replacement extractors have worked well for you? 2. Is the replacement something that an amateur with decent mechanical inclinations can do themselves, and do as well as a pro? I'm not sure if it matters, but the gun in question is a commander length Kimber. Thanks!

You should post this at rimfirecentral.com - IIRC, there's a section of the forum dedicated to Anschutz.

Probably going tomorrow...how's it look thus far? Possibly in the market for a p220 or m&p 45.

I'm sure you've already seen this, but just in case: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/long-guns/12498-improved-battlesight-zero-m4-m16-ar15.html

This cannot be good for the Sig P290...the Ruger is coming sooner and costs less.
-
There's no possible way for it to be worse than the original.

Sometimes you just know you married into the right family!

+1. Throw in a Tiramisu or bread pudding, and I'll marry a homely cousin. -
I guess I'm the outlier...I'll watch the ND v. Miami game with family (GOOOOO IRISH, BEEEEAAT HURRICANES!), then head home and get myself ready for a NYE throwdown with friends, and blow it out as best we can - big dinner, many beverages, and so on. No driving, no bars. NYE, St. Pat's, and Halloween are amateur nights, and unless you're a fan of puke on your shoes, the general public must be avoided.

Mr. StrickJ, what you've just posted is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in that rambling, incoherent link was there anything even close to what could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this thread is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
