I bet if anyone were to look at the passenger seat, they would see a large crease caused by extreme pucker factor. Someone get this man a change of underwear.

Knoxville PD apologizes for open carry incident in Wal-Mart
dariks replied to wareagle's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Pretty much. I believe that those in authority (cops, politicians, etc..) should be held to a higher standard than ordinary citizens. Because their professions can have such large impacts on the rest, through the creation of laws or the enforcement of said laws, they should not be cut any slack. In fact I would go so far as to say that the punishment for breaking the law should be more severe for these professions. I'm not talking about traffic tickets here, I'm talking about more serious stuff like a DUI for example. Whatever punishment an ordinary citizen would get for this crime should be doubled for those in authority. -

From a professional courtesy viewpoint you are correct. But cops giving other cops a free ride is a whole other ballgame. If a doctor waives his fee as a professional courtesy to another doctor, no laws are broken. If a cop decides not to arrest another cop or decides to waive a ticket, a law has still been broken. -

I don't know how one would go about spreading word of this site to LEO's other than word of mouth or posting on a LEO forum. So spread the word. -

Doctors and golf pros are not in positions of authority over the citizenry, so that's not a very valid comparison. -
FBI Crime Stats (AKA Why We Carry) Part II

I'm back home already. I'm frequently in Memphis though, since my wife's family lives there. And even she doesn't like Memphis! -

It's fun to watch people on both sides get riled up about this. On a serious note though.......both viewpoints have their merits but there is not one correct answer for everybody. Some prefer OC, while others prefer CC. Life would be pretty boring if people always agreed with each other. -
I'd much rather have an embroidered button down shirt then a hat. I'd probably buy the hat anyway, but I don't wear them much anymore. I would definitely get more use out of a nice shirt.

I'm still trying to make up my mind on that very subject. I do not want to handle my weapon in the presence of an officer or have it even look like I might reach for it while getting my wallet out of my back pocket. And as for pressing charges. If I had the money I probably would. Correct me if I'm wrong, but when the officer stated that he would "find some other reason to take me in" didn't he himself break the law? -
I pretty much agree with everyone's thoughts on OC'ing. The only time I OC is from my house to my truck in the morning and from my truck into my office. (Yes I'm lucky ). If I go anywhere else during the day the gun is either concealed or in the truck.

I've been with State Farm for almost 16 years. I've had several claims on my auto insurance (1 was my fault and was fairly bad) and 1 claim on my homeowners insurance. My rates have never gone up, my policies were never canceled and I have always received excellent service and support from them.

So if I ever need a lawyer for a firearms related matter I should find someone else? 'Cause there's no way I could afford that!

My apologies. I meant the Confederate Battle Flag.

I understand what you're saying, but I am tired unto death of all these laws and regulations that are for our safety and security. When in actuality they neither makes any safer nor any more secure. Any time a politicians wants to pass a law, that they know will not pass on its own merits, they invoke the Children. You know how it goes......"It's for the children" is their mantra. I've gotten so fed up with this ploy that anytime I hear that phrase uttered I will almost immediately reject whatever they are trying to sell. I know it has been used to death, but Benjamin Franklin really did say it best. "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

I don't know about other Yankees, but I never really associated the Stars & Bars with anything other than a Southern pride sort of thing. I think watching the Dukes of Hazard as I grew up is probably why I feel that way. /I wasn't born in the the South, but I got here as quick as I could.

Why does being at a school (not as a student) suddenly make me no longer trustworthy? Location does not make me any more, or any less, of a danger to people.

Glad to hear that everything has been straightened out.

I've looked into this a little bit myself, because I'm in the same boat you are Len. I am frequently on state property (metro schools, colleges and various other gov't building) for work. Depending on the year/make/model of your vehicle there are several "kits" that I have found that would probably work very well. Unfortunately none of the ones that I have found will work for me. The next best thing that I have found is probably http://www.gunvault.com/handgunsafesminivaultstandard/

I don't believe that keeping them locked up for life is worth it. What kind of life can one have while in prison for the rest of your life? Since we have no effective means of reforming them I think it would be better to execute them and be done with it. In my opinion, caging someone up in a pen for the rest of their natural life is worse than torture. I, for one, would probably go crazy if I was imprisoned for an extended period of time. Is that not torture?

I lost any sort of respect for Hillary years ago when she decided to "stand by her man" instead of divorcing his worthless butt. My wife has duly informed me that if I ever "mess up" she'll be leaving me, and I don't doubt that she is serious.
