    My new toy.

I went to the range tonight to give the Bersa a little test drive. I didn't spend a lot of time there, but here's how it compares to my M&P9: 100 rounds total (Blazer 230 grain) Recoil is slightly more than the M&P9. I had read somewhere that the recoil on a .45 was punishing on the wrists, but I had no problems with that. No FTF or FTE I did notice that if you don't have a firm grip on the pistol that the slide action when the pistol was fired would feel funny. I assume that this is what people mean when they say "limp wristing". The M&P on the other hand never has this problem. My only complaint so far with this pistol is the grip. After about 60-70 rounds the webbing between my thumb and forefinger started getting sore. The grip is marginally comfortable at first, but after a while it definitely moves to the uncomfortable side. Overall I would have to say that this is a pretty decent pistol for a compact .45.
  3. Guns and Leather in Greenbriar will let you try a holster on.
  4. But....but.....what about their right to privacy???

    My new toy.

I've been looking for a new carry pistol that had an ambidextrous safety, was compact, and in a .45 caliber. The Bersa Thunder 45 Ultra Compact is what I walked out of the store with. I haven't shot it yet, but I am really looking forward to it (hopefully tomorrow). Obligatory pic
  6. You owe me a new keyboard canynracer

    M&P45c?

Does anyone know if Smith and Wesson have any plans to make this type of pistol?
  8. I'm not sure if they will start it up or not. If I remember right, when I bought my riding lawnmower from them a few years ago they did start it up. All I can do is ask and see if they will.
  9. That's how most of my bonuses have usually been. ^^^ I think I'm going to go with the Coleman Powermate 5000 Watt, 10 HP Subaru generator from Home Depot. It's listed as $399, which doesn't sound too bad. Then with what I have left over I'm going to start shopping for another carry pistol. By the time my birthday rolls around I'm sure I'll have picked out some accessories that I want.
  10. He got smacked around with the ban stick.
  11. Calm the heck down hellbilly. It's just the internet for goodness sake. My neighbor got a new dog a week or two ago. Now I'm really bad at telling all the breeds apart so all I can tell you is that it's brown and looks like a PitbullBoxerBulldogRottweiler. Now, the dog is kept outside (which bugs the wife) and can usually be found sitting very calm looking while I take my dog outside to do her business. My dog is a 60lb Black Labrador named Daisy who biggest drawback is that she thinks she's a lapdog. Daisy is a very good natured dog and is more likely to lick you to death than to ever bite anyone. However, on the few times where I have actually seen her get aggressive/scared all I can say is that she can look mean when she wants to. Now when Daisy sees the new dog she starts going crazy. Barking and growling and acting like she's got springs on her front legs. The other dog has just ignored her so far.....until tonight. Tonight while walking Daisy the other dog starts "pawing" the ground and barking. This was right after he marked his territory. I tell you all this to illustrate two points. 1) My dog is always on her leash 2)If the neighbors dog ever gets loose and runs towards me, I will probably shoot. I am just not trained enough to be able to tell the difference between a "happy" bark and a "I'm gonna eat you for lunch" bark. Nor am I trained enough to read all their body language. To me a growl or bark while running towards me (charging) is enough to make me very uneasy. How am I to know that the dog is not a threat?
  12. I am not a dog handler, vet or even psychic. With that said if a dog comes running up to me while I am in my yard, and that dog is barking, growling, charging, etc.... then that dog will more than likely get shot.
  13. Are you seriously saying that you would commit premeditated murder because someone shot your dog?
  14. He's not anti enough that he won't make the sale first though.
  15. He got off awfully light on this. I can't imagine I would get anything close to this light a sentence if it was me.
  16. Due to some medical crap, I've spent the last several years saving money and delaying or canceling any big purchases. I'm spending it this year and there's not gonna be any stopping me.
  17. I got a Christmas bonus this year and now I need to decide how to spend it. I've pretty much narrowed my decision down to either a compact .45 or a generator. The .45 would be for carry and would replace the M&P9 that I currently use. The M&P is a good gun but I am looking for something that is both smaller and that has a manual safety. The generator would mainly be for power outages and power too use in my shed. I was initially leaning towards the 8,000 watt generator that is available at Home Depot, but since it isn't large enough to power my central air I'm thinking about going with a 5,000 watt generator instead. Keep in mind that my birthday is next month and I will likely get either a years membership for the range at Guns and Leather or I will get the .45. What would your preference be and why?
  18. I've been to that Borders store before while carrying concealed. It's been a few months but it was definitely not posted at all.
  19. It still baffles me why he wouldn't at least give his gun to someone who was willing to USE it when it was needed the most.
  20. Right place. Right time. Right person. The word "Hero" is often overused, but in this case it is very well deserved.
  21. You mean Saturday the 19th right? I'll try to make it out to this one. What better way to spend your birthday.
  22. I read THR as well and, like you ,that whole "Holier than thou" attitude gets to me sometimes. The mods there are completely spastic on what is and isn't allowed. And if they deem your topic "Not Worthy" they will tell you to post it on the "other" web site. (aps.com?), which is BS and a pain in the butt.
  23. I have very little sympathy for the mortgage companies and the borrowers. The mortgage company took the risk of loaning the money to people of dubious credit and it ended up biting them in the butt. No one forced them to make bad loans in the first place. My feeling for the borrowers boil down to two words...Self Responsibility. They shouldn't have bought more house than they could reasonably afford. If you buy a house with an ARM and you can just barely afford the payments. What do you think is gonna happen when the rates go up? It isn't rocket science for goodness sake.
  24. I didn't know that dogs share a humans view of proportional force.
  25. I agree with Mars. If you want me to fill out your own version of the 4473 or some such then I'll walk away. It's bad enough I have to give my information to the state so there's no way I will give it to a private citizen who has no legal right to ask for it.
