If staying in AR platform and since cost is the concern...I personally would do 300blk same reliable parts and since you are using it for hunting only the cost of ammo is mute point unless you shoot a lot deer and pigs :)..   Plus you can get a suppressor later and reloading equipment and have some real fun with subsonic ammo....That is what I did:)

range day was a success... ran about 200 rounds of M855 through it and ran flawless..next is the optic talk as I'm thinking about an RMR 1MOA, or MRO...any thoughts on either?

I'd like to do a nice large traditional Bowie and possibly a good every day tanto
