  1. I also found that VERY interesting!!! Thanks!
  2. It's what the left is pushing for in this country.
  3. As I was taught, the biggest problem with magnesium is that it burns at 3800 degrees f, and water seperates into its basic molecules at 1800 degrees f, so by putting water on it, you are in fact feeding it hydrogen and oxygen. Actually burns hotter!
  4. Yes, their primary load is magnesium. Which burns at around 3800 degrees if memory serves.
  5. Absolutely!!! I am also in Sumner county, just let me know where and when!!
  6. Just what I was looking for! Thanks!
  7. I have inherited a WWII bring back from my step father who inherited it from his father that brought it back from WWII and would like to shoot it. So I'm looking for a soft load but being a chrome bore it really likes the high velocity ammo. Does anyone have any powder they would recommend for it. I am not looking for recipes as I will work up a load slowly, just looking for powder recommendations. Thanks every!
  8. I'm in!
  9. For what it's worth, I believe it's another foot in the door for total gun confiscation. I remember a push years back to demonize gun owners by saying all gun owners were mentally incompetent. Once they determine they can do this, what is to say that they won't go after all gun owners "because someone feels threatened"? Maybe I am too distrustful, but there it is.
  10. I am not knowledgeable, but isn't "large amounts" of black powder like 50 pounds? Unless you are shooting cannons, I can't see the average shooter having that much powder on hand.
  11. That is interesting. I could only find it in 9mm. I wonder if there are plans for other calibers.
  12. Harrington and Richardson Topper 088 12 gauge when I was about 12. Still have it.
  13. For what it's worth, when I was getting my prints done for my nfa paperwork, Metro Nashville police dept. did my prints electronically scanned then printed them on the correct paper cards. Maybe that's the way to go now?
  14. I am GUESSING "you do what you have to do"
  15. Unfortunately there is no cover all radio. The best option is to figure out what you would like to do and just get a radio that covers that. Such as, vhf-uhf, dstar, dmr, fusion, Hf, qrp, eme, cw, psk31, etc etc etc... I would say, just stick with what you have for now, get licensed, get on the air and then once you start operating, decide what area interests you and go there. Best wishes and feel free to contact me with any questions, I don't know it all, but have tried several modes.
  16. It's one of the biggest shows around. They usually have Icom and Yaeseu set up and sometimes Kenwood is there. As well as a lot of really good dealers. Like I said, you can also learn a lot by attending the forums as well.
  17. I have noticed a little activity lately toward ham radio operation so I thought I would let everyone know that August 18 and 19th, there will be a ham fest in Huntsville Al. It's a fun ham fest and can be very informative if you attend some of the forums.
  18. I second this. I don't care what you are facing or how we have disagreed or what, I will be there for you.
  19. Couldn't find any info on any kind of matches on their website or facebook.
  20. You sound a lot like me. I am also a general class ham ex-military, ex-military intelligence as well as a few other.
  21. Have you thought about 300 blackout? It performs very well with shorter barrels. I did mine with an 8 inch barrel and yes, once it's registered you can put any size barrel or caliber on it. You just have to be able to return it to it's registered configuration and crossing state lines isn't really that big of a deal as long as you plan ahead. You have to file a form 20 with the ATF notifying them of the temporary disposistion of the weapon.
  22. I would be interested in information about this as well. I can't find anything about it on google, Hendersonville parks and recreation or Hendersonville police dept web sites.
  23. I follow him on facebook and he still updates about shows he is attending and it's still his old e-mail address. Other than that, I have no idea.
  24. I will support raising the minimum age to purchase a rifle to 21 if they agree to drop the NFA.
  25. Thank you sir!
