  1. I firmly believe this has nothing to do with the legality of an 80% receiver but the ATF wanted the customer list so they knew where more guns are.
  2. I am not trying to sway your idea one way or another, just food for thought. I have a holster that mounts to the knee panel just below the steering wheel that I never use because it's too visible. Unless I'm going on a very long trip, every time i stopped for gas or bathroom or food or anything, I had to hide the gun or draw it and holster on my side. I usually wanted it on my side out of the vehicle anyway but it got to be too much handling of the gun. Ymmv.
  3. From what I have seen, if you aren't causing harmful interference, no one cares. But I was only referring to the letter of the law, not what you probably will not have problems with.
  4. Let me start by saying, I am NOT familiar with frs rules. But my first concern in that case is if the radio is "type accepted" for operation on the frs bands. Most handhelds can be operated on low power, usually 1 watt, but in the case of commercial operations a ham radio is not type accepted and therefore unlawful to transmit on that band. But like I said at the beginning, I don't know much about the frs rules, it could be different.
  5. It would work very well for your desired application especially when blocking transmit on those frequencies. The only thing I will note about them (you already seem to understand the legal ramifications) is that a lot of departments are trunked frequency and this will not pick those up.
  6. But Who is on first
  7. I do not, but I still have a Vic-20. :-)
  8. You can down load a distro and just boot to cd and see if everything works okay before an entire install.
  9. I have seen this before and had to read it 5 or 10 times before I could get through the whole thing still breathing from laughing so hard.
  10. I was just wondering today what ever came of this, I guess it's still on going.
  11. My standard mantra,,,I will not comply.
  12. I carry mine brass down so I can more easily grab a shell and insert into tube while still shouldered, but your milage may vary. Just try it both ways and find what works best for you.
  13. I have encountered a lot of officers in my life, professionally and personally, and can attest to officers are just people. There are nice polite ones and ones......less so. It's still nice to here good stories with all the negative we are bombarded with so much.
  14. I always asked them to reply to my work address phishing@fbi.gov don't know why by they seem to stop mailing about then.
  15. You know what an 8" floppy looks like.
  16. When you're on the interstate rocking out to some music and a car load of kids yell "never give up old man".
  17. Guns are a right. When do we stop allowing the furthering of a police state? JMHO
  18. Why do I keep picturing that scene in back to the future where the news cameras drop in and start recording? Any bets on how far away that us?
  19. I'm kind of partial to Woodford reserve.
  20. Kilts aren't for every one, you have to be very secure in yourself.
  21. I actually have 4 kilts. 24 inch length is just a bit long for me.
  22. I got a double sided engraved one. Will have to go back through checking records to see where I got it. Very happy with the work. I got 300 blackout on one side and molon labe on the other. I'm in Hendersonville if you want to meet up some time and look at it.
  23. I've got one. Actually the 64th one S&W made. Great guns but very heavy.
  24. I have a personal saying that I'm thinking of putting on my back window. "I will drive at what ever speed I feel safe for the distance you are following".
