I have a SA Operator and find it to be a great little shooter. With the commander size, it's light and comfortable, also very accurate. I find the 185 grain winchester seems to be the best range load for it. I don't have any experience with the RIA 1911 but it has a very good reputation for reliability and accuracy. As for the Taurus 1911, it also appears to be a good first .45. The price and features make it extremely attractive. Of the three, I believe any would be a good choice. If price isn't critical, I'd say Springfield, Taurus, then RIA. If it is, I personally would take the Taurus first. But that's my preference.

I really like my 1911's. I mean Really LIke My 1911"s. But unless you're very, very good with one; it's not the best carry for everyone. You mentioned a G26. You are obviously familiar with a DAO firearm. Why not continue to use that as a carry? Get something you're confident with and be safe. Then get a good Colt, Kimber, or whatever you like. And then have a great time with it. By the way, I take my own advice; my primary carry piece is an xd9sc.

CK1 say it very well. I didn't want to badmouth your Sig, but everything he says, and more is true. Trade out of the 250. You won't regret it.

Recently sold an 8045 Cougar to a friend. Its a 45 instead of 9mm. Al love it says it's one of the most accurate DA 45's he's owned. It's a little more akward to break down than the 92/M9 version. It as a rotating barrel with 3 locking lugs, but once you do it a couple of times its pretty easy. Yes it's got the typical wide-body grip of the Beretta but is easily held and shot. Personally, I'd rather have the Cougar than the P250. It just seems a little to gimmicky with all the barrel/slide size/caliber change setup. Nothing against Sigs, I still have them, just would rather not have the 250. JMHO.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check out the grips.

How does the Rohrbaugh handle? I've been hearing more and more about them. All I really know for sure is that it's an expensive piece.

You could be right. That's how the 1911 bug got me!

I got my first glock last week too. Got a G22 and took it to G&L to try it out. I 've been a Springfield fan for a couple of years now so I took my 4'' xd40 to compare them side by side. Ran 100+ rounds thru each and really couldn't tell much difference between them. Both guns are more accurate shooters than I am and quite comfortable to hold and shoot. The only thing I noticed was that the glock trigger may have been just a little better, but not appreciably so. The xd40 felt better in my hands because of the finger ridges on the G22-- they were just a little off for my grip. All in all, I like the G22; enough to want to get my hands on a compact 9mm and try it with my xd9sc. And no, I've not been a glock-hater, just never had the opportunity to try one out. Maybe I'll get another.

Looks good. But that's one high-priced snack.

For a really satisfying mess, try hedge apples and a 22 magnun. It's a blast.

So many songs fit that catagory. Every one already mentioned is an emotional land mine. For me personally, the hardest to listen to is " Amazing Grace" by The Royal Scot Dragoon Guards. Played at my father's funeral in 1991.

You mean the "War of Northern Agression"? Certainly not. Welcome back to the fold.

What's wrong with regulating borders? If the greater portion of the sophisticated highly intelligent and morally enlightened world does it; ...Surely it can't be wrong. Can it?

I could and would say a lot but three people; Mark@sea , TGODavid , and Macguyver have said it very well and I am in total agreement with the sentiments each. This is a free society, at least for now, and jth-,3s has his ability and right to express an opinion. I absloutley disagree with it and think that his presence here should at least indicate a degree of understanding as to where the exteme liberal left is taking this country. With the "fairness doctrine" absurdity and attempts to extend that to internet communications as well and couplied with the attempts to regulate how we speak by defining "hate speech" as anything percieved to make someone "uncomfortable", tripling if not quadrupling the defiect, enacting spending programs that will severly increase the taxes of the entire population, not to mention attempts in the works to increase the tax rates that will surely cripple the "mom and pop" small business that have been the financial backbone of progress in this country, making unilateral decisions that will by back-door diplomacy (ala Hillary and the so-called State Department) cede our national soverinty to the righteous, honorable, and totally trustworthy U.N. , and of course the 2nd Ammendment issues... How can we all not think this new President isn't light-years better than President Bush? How can we be so blind and uncaring for how unpopular America is in the rest of the world for having a sense of honor and wishing to retain our way of life. How can we be so insensitive as to believe that our religon shouldn't be allowed the same freedoms that are demanded by Muslum clerics? How could we have the gall to expect to carry our Bible into another country and expect to be able to even talk about it? So much more, but my indignation is moderating. I'm not as eloquent as others here and sorry to take so much of your time reading this, but I can't truly believe that we are so much better off with President Oboma (Yes, I called him President. I do respect the office if not the oficeholder) than we were with President Bush. I can't believe that we're all just going to be one big happy family under this administration.

Try ammoman.com, not the greatest brand selection, but prices include shipping. I've been pleased with them for over a year.

Background please? I'm not familiar with them. I'm sure others of us would like to know as well. -
I've had some sporadic problems too. Sometimes when I click on pm the page changes and tells me the token has expired and to reload the page.

For what it's worth, about:2cents:, I traded into a used SA Lightweight Loaded Champion Operator. It's a commander size with 4'' barrel. I absolutely love it! Great shooter, extremely accurate, and once I found my favorite load for it, it has become my favorite of four 1911 45's. The only issue I've had with it was a weak extractor, but after, it was used with no known round count. I will not comment on Kimbers for I have no personal experiences with them. However, I have heard the comments concerning SeriesI/II pistols.

As you have seen, opinions vary widely on Taurus handguns; mostly the two extremes--love them or hate them. I've owned 7 to date and still have three. Of those, 3 have been from the Millenium line-a 1st generation PT-145, a 2nd gen PT145, and a 2nd gen PT140 MilPro. I can honestly say I had no issues with any of them. The 1st gen 145 had the best trigger of all owned with the 2nd gen 145 being the most accurate of the three. All three were easy to shoot with I thought, little recoil from a small gun. A PT145 was my carry until I discovered the xd9sc, but that's another story. I won't say they are the best thing since the wheel, but I found them to be a very good quality at a more than reasonable price. Check out the site Taurus Semiautos for ratings and info from Taurus owners. All in all, I like them a lot and after firing 400/500 rounds thru one to break in and decide which ammo is best for you, I wouldn't be afraid to carry one; let alone buy one. I'm far from an expert on handguns, but if you'd like to ask me about any Taurus I've owned, just ask and I'll send my email address. I seem to be having problems with the pm system here.

Anyone here tried ammoman.com? I've bought from them about 4 times and had good service. All their prices include shipping. Like most places, 380 is rare but most other calibers are coming back.
