  1. Parrothead, I don't mean to offend you, but consider this...you...are 23. You called out a retired Green Beanie. Ask him what he was doing 40 or so years ago. If the man is what some here may suspect; you may have gotten off easy. But for you, the short and long awnser is practice. Then more practice. Then more. Get the idea? It takes long hours of dedication for sometimes long years to get where you want to be. And no, I'm not there. If you hit golfballs at 45 yards with a subcompact pistol; not the jug and knocking them off; you, sir are a better shot than I am. And I applaude you. Now I'm getting ready for some range time. I know I need the practice. I'm trying to learn to shoot 1911's well. And hopefully, accurately.
  2. If you are near a Dick's Sporting Goods, check out the Stackon Elite. This past week on sale for 799. A large safe. Not the best on the market, but a good intermediate level. I forget if it's a 36 or a 45 gun size.
  3. Started to order from MIdway and checked pricing---22.99 loader 3.00 tax 6.79 shipping Total 32.78 With 3-5 day shipping, I'll go to Academy tomorrow.
  4. Thanks for the information memphis. I think I''ll give it a look.
  5. Like several others here, I have a couple thousand rounds of assorted calibers that were under water for a period of time til I could get back into the house and move it. 38/357/40/41AE/ and about a thousand rounds of Ranger 9mm. All of it has discoloration on the casings and the 38/357 are lead nose blazer ammo and have tarnished and have fuzzy white oxidation (?) on the lead nose. I've been using a dremel and polishing tool to clean all of them up. I really hate to loose any ammo these days, but as previously said, I'll use them for range only. Also have a new respect fo the swabbies out there. My father in law brought me some large 30/50 cal cans for storage now. When you fill those, they are really heavy. I put about 2500 rounds of 45 in one, closed the lid, and tried to pick it up. Thought twice about. Then called for help. A two man job. Anyway, if anyone has any special cleaning tips, I would like to hear them. Thanks.
  6. I agree. I see no problem with me supporting local and/or like minded business operators.

Yes, very interesting show. A little disjointed at times. I found Boyd Crowder to be more interesting than Raylan. Sure hope it comes back. Lately anything I like to watch seems to hack off some programming director and he cancels it.
  9. Great looking P7. I really like the looks of it. I've got o few water-damaged pistols that I'm considering having refinished, so thanks for posting the information and pictures.
  10. Great looking restroration!
  11. Chills. Tears. And pride in the old gentleman who sang. Thank You, Sir.
  12. The most depressing book I've ever read. And I've read a lot of books in my life.
  13. True Lies. Best James Bond movie (type) of all time. And over course, Jamie Lee Curtis didn't hurt the movie either.
  14. My bil has a Pk and really is fond of it. But with the size of 9mm, 40, and even 45's getting to the PPK/Pk range, why go with the 380? I'm not criticizing you or the cartridge, I still have a 380 Browning BDA. I'm just curious about your choice.
  15. It sure will. I'd heard about it from others here and around Nashville, but had just never gone in. He seems to have a great little business there and really is well known around the state. Phil told me he's planning to set up a display area in the store and that will surely add to his business.
  16. Doesn't surprise me. Just another youngster who can't appreciate the wisdom of the old geezers here.
  17. While meeting jtluttrell today at Belshire Hardware,(and getting his, now mine) PT1911; I went inside and talked with Phil for a while. Real nice, friendly, and helpful guy. He has rather good prices on his product. After getting a few quotes, I can say I will be buying from him soon. Looked at the RIA line. Especially liked the 9mm and 38super versions of the 1911. He will join my short list of people, not shops, to buy from.
  18. Ghost Tombstone Silverado Wyatt Earp AND----------LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS--Rick Moranis version. Classic scifi spoof and a darn good musical too! Operation Petticoat Mr. Roberts Where Eagles Dare Guns of Navarone
  19. I've tried to stop myself, really I have. But sometimes it's just too much and I'm forced to let something go. And then sanity returns and I regret it. If I have to pick two, my dad's 6" 38 special and a SA Champion Operator.
  20. Ditto.
  21. Yes, your judgement is sadly lacking in this respect. How can you not appreciate the humor and scarcasm in the movie? Oh well, at least you didn't say that you didn't like John wayne.
  22. Armageddon The Shootist The Terminator (the first) The Princess Bride The Shawshank Redemtion The Green Mile Heck, I can't limit to five only--so many really good movies still unnamed.
  23. Not being a glock expert, I think it is just the finger grooves and the light rail. I traded for my first glock last year--a gen 3 model 22 and like it. my next was 45 model 30. I like it much better than the 40

    "Good" Entry 1911

Taurus. Entry level 1911's normally will be in the 500-600 range and has been said, that's a basic model with no frills. With a little looking and bargaining, the PT1911 can be had for usually 550-650 otd pricing. And with that you'll get better sights and upgraded features at the entry pricing. Don't take me wrong though, there's nothing about a RIA that would stop me from buying if I found a really good price on one.
