  1. Amen, brother oldfella.
  2. Good rational choice, Erik. I wish you luck in keeping to it. I said that some time ago. I'm sure you know firsthand from me how that went. But I totally agree about stockpiling extra ammo. It's one of the few commodities that has an unbelievable shelf life. I still have some of my Dad's milspec 45 surplus from Korea. Not much, but still shoots just like new 45 ball does.
  3. Have been watching the BBC sci-fi series Primeval again. And watched Deja Vu again. It gets better each time I see it. For me the best Denzel Washington performance since Inside man.
  4. Ok, that's three people who have heard of the Fabled HK4! Warbird, who had a good one; with myself and TNWNGR on the other side.
  5. Til I read the article, all sorts of possible injuries came to mind. The heel wasn't one I thought of.
  6. This place is better than daytime TV!!! Never know what'll blow next. I like it!!
  7. Welcome in. You'll like it here...once the action starts. Verbal wars, scarcasam, and maybe a little knowledge flung around.
  8. For you, Sgt.Joe. Very nicely done. A well said addition to this commentary. My heartfelt Thank You to you, glock23forme, and all our other active and former servicemen and women.
  9. Hey, Mike I'm being nosey. What kind of revolver? I got an old S&W k-22 Combat Masterpiece that's chambered for the 22mag, and it's a real treat to shoot. And with the 4" barrel, it's a real tackdriver. Unfortunately, I can't drive tacks with it. It's a much better shot than I am.
  10. Glad to know there were and are some good ones out there. Can't remember the name of the shop, but the owner was Bill Harton, I believe. At the time, I remember him having purchased quite a few of them from a Georgia importer and distributor. Seems like I paid $75-100 for it in pretty used condition. I guess just a classic example of a well-used firearm at the end of its lifespan. Anyway, it was a novel piece and gives me an interesting note to add here.
  11. Quite the contrary. I like and own several of those old-fashioned and obsolete wheel guns. I even carry one on occasion. Why just last week I even bought a 637 for my wife. It's those chunky, oversize and overweight, load finiky autoloaders that are looked down on here. And I even got a few of those too.
  12. I have no experience with the FN45, but I have a Rami that's had a couple of hundred rounds thru it without any problems. I've found it very accurate and a pleasure to shoot, but don't have enough time with it yet to use as a carry. Care to share any thoughts on the gun?
  13. You can read the book titles??? Buddy, I need your eyes.

    24/7 G2

Here we go again. I have owned quite a few Taurus pistols over the last 15 years or so. In fact, I own the 24/7 that Erik88 mentions, and except for cosmetic problems from the May Flood here in Nashville, it still functions. So I agree with Erik, Fiddledog, and tbone...There have been problems with Taurus, but so have there been with almost every other manufacturer. But I'm getting offtrack... the Doublestrike design is good, but I have to say...even as a Taurus fan...That sure is one Butt-ugly design!
  15. Ditto. I'll be there when it opens...and did you say indoor rifle range??
  16. Showing my age with this one...Anybody remember the HK4? A German police tradein that was available in the late 70's and early 80's. It was a multi-caliber pistol that had a rotating firing pin face that allowed you to shoot 25 and 32 calibers; If I remember correctly. It was so terribly inaccurate that you couldn't hit a coke can at 10 feet. And no..., it wasn't all me. I returned it to the dealer after a week and traded it in on a Browning BDA 380.

    Ruger SP101 Review

Don't hate them, just enjoy the variety that's available and hide everything from the wife. It'll work for a while anyway. BTW, I'm craving an SP101 as well.
  18. ;)Carbonarcher, welcome to the South! You'll like it here. Like everyone else here, I have an opinion...so here it is. Didn't like the PF...and I like Keltec. Hated the trigger. Father-in-law had one and I disliked it as well. Have a Kahr K9 that is really nice--accurate, easy to control, and conceals well, but just a touch heavy at 23.1 oz. Really like my xd9sc, but a little awkward to conceal at times because of it's width. Got a great deal on a CZ Rami that i carry a bit. But although not a 9mm, my personal carry preference at this time is a Glock 30. Accurate, very accurate. Shoots great and easily controlled, plus it's a .45. What more could I want? And as with all opinions, take with a grain or two of salt and make up your own mind as to what fits you and your purposes. Have fun choosing and welcome to MIddle Tennessee!
  19. Welcome to my Nightmare!
  20. Thanks to all for your kind words. It's good to spend time (and unfortunately money) here again. Already found a few interesting items...So on with the bs and lets deal.
  21. Went from a waterbed to a Sleepnumber type seven years ago. The wife and I really like it. I can't say I have any real knowledge of the Tempurpedic, but they have a good reputation with neighbor of mine.
  22. Great start on the project. Glad to see someone with the guts to try out something new. I'm sure you'll do a great job on the rest. I'm trying to work up the nerve to strip and refinish a couple of older cedar chests and a wardrobe that my dad built about 50 years ago. As soon as the garage workshop is cleaned up, I'll get started.
  23. That's the ticket! Use a bigger hammer! Always gets the job done! But seriously, I like the sight. I bet it would be great for my old eyes.
  24. Thanks, learning a lot about many things I never wanted to know about...lawyers, probate, lawyers, endless calls and visits to banks, insurance company, and by the way.... lawyers. Just kidding to all you legal eagles. My best old high school and college buddy is handling things for me, and is really great.
  25. Haven't been there yet, JP. My bil shoots there sometimes. As soon as the estate issues are settled, I'll have some free time on weekends and I'll let you shoot that old Rami I got from you. It's still with me.
