  1. I recieved a wonderful gift from my wife--a complete surprise. As I was unwrapping a framed picture, I was stunned...It was a picture of my dad taken about 1960 on a range with his shooting club. He was in the front of a line of four shooters with his favorite Winchester bolt-action 22; his homemade range box, that I still have by him; and in the background was his was his 56 Buick Coupe. Just a nice picture? Yes, very nice. But what's special about it? I'd never seen the picture before. My wife and Mom had found this and planned it for me. Not only a very special gift, but the Mom's last gift for me. We lost her in August.
  2. Beautiful. What more can I say?
  3. I'd just like to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It's been quite a year for me personally, full of extremes; highs and lows, good and bad. I know others have had troubles as well, so I'll not go into them again. I'd just like to wish to the old friends, all the new friends I've made, and the ones I've yet to meet... A very Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year.
  4. Beautiful work. Your father-in-law must be a great man to recieve such a gift. Or...you're just a trying to get on his good side.
  5. Well Done, Sir. Now I really like that pretty one too...gonna hook me up?

Glad to hear they're showing up. And even more glad that your thoughts and findings are favorable. I've like the 22mag since I shot my first in a K22 SW and have been looking forward to seeing and getting this gun. Thanks for the report.
  7. Guy N. summed it up pretty well for me. All your points have merit; and it is your organization. But...I'll go out on a limb here and add one more comment; how about the fun factor--the enjoyment derived from the board and it's membership. I orginally came here to learn a little, meet some good people, and generally have a pleasant time. Being educated and gathering information is a wonderful thing...but don't take all the pleasure out.
  8. I fully understand your comment. The 1911/9mm is a very fun gun to shoot and usually quite accurate. But a buddy of mine is having a custom 1911 frame for 38Super built. I can't wait to get my hands on it.
  9. Finished up last weekend. Mostly because my wife did 90% of it already.
  10. They are every bit as addictive as the 1911 bug. Be very cautious. I said I'd never own one. Then I acquired a G22 in a trade. That led to a G30. Now a G19. What's next? My Springfields are getting jealous.
  11. Already said better than I can, but; welcome home and thanks for a job well done.
  12. That's why those heavy, stone-age pieces of cheap pot-metal are still popular in the days of polymer guns I guess.
  13. Everyone nows Sigs are indestrutible. Whatever form of abuse did you subject this fine weapon to in order to damage it in such a fashion? Said in complete jest...They're fine guns. I've owned several. And the gun I most regret selling was a bi-tone P220 that a friend talked me out of.
  14. Thanks, I'll check it out. I'm trying to find the same type as my old one; but it seems to be out of style. It wasn't anything fancy, just comfortable for me.
  15. Not a clue!
  16. Acquired a new gen 3 G19 recently. Added Truglo sights, extended mag release and takedown lever. I'm content for now...Except now I want to work on my G30.
  17. Thanks for the headsup. I had thought about going, but it's too cold for this old fart to go to Gallatin for that little to see. I really only wanted to see about an inexpensive range bag to replace my old one anyway. But there will be another show soon.
  18. Excellent description of this movie. Ridiculous, but fun to watch for the action and the firearms. But really shows off the age of these guys.
  19. Don't worry about the age of a thread, I've done the same thing several times and don't really care. Neither should you. If it looks interesting to you and you have a comment, or if its just good information or even just fun...jump right in. It's all for learning, teaching and just having comradship with some hopefully intelligent people.
  20. TSA...thousands standing around... for your safety.
  21. Congratulations to you both. God Bless him and all others in service to our Country.
  22. Sorry to nitpick; but I believe the article said it would be a verbal report via a smartphone.
  23. That's so uncool.
  24. Sometimes I really, really hate these infernal machines.
  25. The only way to travel.
