  1. Very few things that come from the secondary market that I didn't buy here. A few referrals from people or a lead I'd hear of, even an offer from friends and family. Bought several(maybe more than several...lol) while I was a route salesman. After a couple of Armslist and the other one (name escapes me now) that was available; I have pretty much made it a rule to only buy from TGO...for all the reasons already listed above. Better people. Safer. Like minded people. Go on and on, but just like dealing within a community that I get a good feeling from. Only had one actual BAD buy/experience here and that was very early on. Have had several "no-shows" and a few that were obviously just trolling for one reason or another, but we can usually spot them. Did have one seller that ran me around for a couple of weeks and he was a real pain in the ass. But that is rare. AND those that I suspect were an "entrapment" sort. Out of state, underage, "might not pass a background check. Just to see if I would not follow the legalaties of selling face to face sans FFl.
  2. Christine? That would make me think about it. LOL! Excellent book and darn good movie as well. I built a lot of models in my early teens, then discovered I wasn't really good at it. That began my fondness for diecast pieces. Never really cared for the Hot Wheels, etc sizes. I liked the detail on the 1/18 scale pieces. Back then the price was around 15 bucks. As the years went on, the quality of these metal diecast got a great deal better! So did the prices. 75-100 became the norm. Then the "limiteds" and specials for groups/clubs/events came into the picture. Not unusual to see 150+ on some. That was 10+ years ago. There are some really awesome diecast replicas on the market for those of us with little ability and paticence. But some unbelievealy high prices as well. Corvettes and the 60s/70s muscle cares were my favorites. Got a bunch on disply in our den. A BUNCH more still in boxes in the attic. Got some really nice pieces, if I say so myself. Need to have a big sale.
  3. Sitting here going thru the ton of daily email crap I get every day, and saw the news on the 10mm M&P. I have to admit it is interesting. Still not sure I want to get into another hard hitting caliber at this stage of my life...blame goes to arthritic hands; but this and the Rock Island 10mm sure do get tempting. However, just about anything tempts me when it comes to firearms. Why couldn't I just win a great bunch of money and just buy them all?
  4. Yeah, those "safe Queens" do make life interesting. lol! I sold a 624 last year. I really hated to, but pretty looks just weren't enough. I found it difficult to absorb the ammo cost of the 44 mag vs the 44 special. And availability entered the picture as well.
  5. Too much time...and money on his hands!
  6. With the reputation I have in my family...I doubt anyone would even give her a second look!
  7. Not qite what the OP suggested that he wanted, but a favorite of mine is the Model 19. S&W Perfection! But then there's a lot to be said for the 686 too!
  8. Hey...give him a break! My oldest friend, best man at my wedding, and general pain in the butt...was a shyster of a personal injury sort...and a pure, dyed in the wool, flaming liberal dem! But a nice guy and I miss him.
  9. Funny? Yes. Too far off? Nope. I buy a lot of meats from Sam's Club. ( I try to keep ourselves a fair supply of both, and buy for another family member. Freeze what I can, but running out of freezer space. Have given thought to another freezer lately.) But to get back on point, the overall changes seems to be on the order of 20-30% in the chicken and beef products. With farms on the decline for years, chicken and beef production has sufferred. I don't see it improving very quickly.
  10. I've heard similar things. My favorite came from an unknown source...like trying to push a bowling ball through a straw. lol! Now humor aside, I sympathize with you all. I have never had a bout with kidney stones. However, I have one that's been with me since 2011. Doc told me I developed it during and after my chemotherapy. I DID NOT drink enough to flush all the drugs out of my system. And like everything else...the remainder of those very nasty drugs pool in the kidneys. At this point in time, should I have an episode with them...it's surgical removal only. NOT looking forward to that. The mass, not a stone any longer, is approximately13x18 centimeters. It's not moving. Told that currently it is trapped withing the tissue folds of my kidney. X-rays every 6 months to check on it. I do drink 6-8 glasses of water daily, and sweat like pig on a spit; so keeping hydrated is an effort. As far as the other things I should and should not do...I seem to have them reversed. HR...prayers for you buddy. Oh, btw. my doc said sit in a hot tub and drink a lot of beer to help pass the stones. Take that for what it's worth.
  11. If anyone has been like me...searching with no luck finding 13 round mags for their Shield Plus, I found a site/store that has some in stock. Northwest Armory, in Oregon. I just ordered 2. Roughly 90 bucks shipped. Not the lowest price I've seen( JoeBobs), but at least they had a few in stock. If interested...go now. I spent the better part of an hour searching and visiting sites before find this one. And I've been looking for the 13 round mags since I bought my Shield Plus 8/10 weeks ago.

    New Gun!

Got to admit the thought of a Henry 22 with a threaded barrel does cause my antannee to tingle just a bit. I didn't know that was a thing. Guess I'll be looking now.
  14. Not sure how I feel about that. But all the purists (me included) about rails on a 1911. So I guess I could get used to it.
  15. Got my mags yesterday. Yep...Mecgar. Definitely. Did get the opportunity to fondle one Saturday. I really like it. I'm on 2 lgs waiting lists. #2 in one of them. Maybe I'll get one sooner than later.
  16. Actually the first time I've seen that sunburst pattern look good on a pistol. Really. But that's just me.
  17. Simple. Right?
  18. 'Cause it's a Hipower!!! Well almost.
  19. Thanks for mentioning the mags. Just ordered some myself.
  20. Well, we old geezers seem to share the same feelings on Frank Herbet. I just couldn't get into his books. And like you, I'm a bit over the top on sci-fi books and movies. But seems we are outnumbered in our opinions on Dune books and the 1984 movie. That being said, I do have an interest in seeing the new one. Just because of the Ridley Scott work.
  21. My wife would do just about anything to own that!
  22. Sure he did. I hear music...something about Brandon?
  23. And here I'd gotten all hopped up on the Turkish clones! I just meight have to sell something and buy one...if it's what you think!
  24. Not saying Freedom product is all bad, I still use what I have. But when one gives me problems that I can directly tie to the ammo...well, it's range use only.
