Yep! The appearance of doing something. The key to a long, successful political career! Uncle Joe has done this all his life...and look where it got him!

LOL. So would I. My wife asked last month if I was going this year. She can be so cruel sometimes. I'm a bit of a lone wolf, have been all my life. Regretting it more and more these days. Perhaps when I get a few things done...we can get together. Right now, got a major UTI...again. And a kidney stone that gives a few pains. Blessedly, it is captured in the folds of the kidney. It causes a bit of bleeding sometimes, but hasn't and can't move without something like a bad hit on the kidney. Doc says the only options are leave it alone or surgical removal of part or all of the kidney. I voted to leave it alone.

Phil Williams TFA/John Harris Hit Piece
hipower replied to Defender's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I caught the promo on 5 with Phil talking about the interview. I was a bit agitatted over it. So I decided that I knew enough about Phil Williams that I'd not watch the full interview. Your description of PW is accurate, btw. John Harris and the TFA are know to us. Need I say more? -
All the talking heads throw this line out. So do the politicians on both sides. I don't think any of them understand what a "background check/ TICS" really is. Most of them are still thinking we just walk into an FFL(and that's another thing the majority of the population don't understand) and pick out a 50 Caliber, 100 round pistol, and walk out with it. I cannot say how many times I've gone thru the TICS process, and not sure I really want to know, but in close to 45 years, I've never been denied or had a question arise. Guess I've led a boring life. I get so frustrated, and I'm sure all of us do when we hear all this again and again. It's absolutely the fault of that "evil black rifle" that these children, those nightclub goers, and office workers were killed. Usually the story leads with "So and so killed today by an AR15!" The person holding the rifle and pulling the trigger comes later in the story. Like others, I can say in 63 years of gun use, I, or anything I have been holding/shooting, has killed or even jumped up and shot at anyone. Now I will admit that at 15, my Dad's Remington 12 guage did shoot some chickens in our garden, but I warned them beforehand!

Referring to Gov. Lee's coments on "strengthening background checks." How would this be done? We are already screened by TBI/HomeLand Security, and I understand in some cases, sent up the line for FBI checks as well. What more can be done? Interview school teachers, friends and neighbors(hope not in this), go into family history? Is TN in for a waiting perion to purchase? Just where does this get stronger?

Defender, I've only attended 2 NRA Conventions...Louisville and Nashville. In both cases I found that chairs were virtually non-existant. In Louisville, there were a few in the entrance area, and several hundred I think, in the concessions area. Otherwise, it seems that chairs were removed from almost all the show areas. I guess to speed up the cattle flow thru the aisles. In Nashville, it was worse. Very few chairs anywhere. Very small food area with chairs; but they were "policed" to make sure you were eating, not just sitting and resting. In both shows, I walked the floor and the aisles multiple times. My feet were miserable. Old fat men with back/feet issues should think carefully before attending. Lounging around is really something I'd suggest when attending any convention, but especially those of the NRA. LOL. Louisville was my first convention. Went with my late brother-in-law, Tad Stratton. We usually stayed close when going somewhere...but this time...no. As we were going in, I asked him for a little patience with me being able to keep up with him. He promptly told me he had "people...old friends and business contacts" from FT. Campbell and several companies he was angling for a Rep position with. At this point I was own my own. It did allow me time to look and talk with anyone I chose for as long as I wanted. So it wasn't all bad. Except for when my wife found out. LOL! She was HOT! Seems Tad had been given instructions to "watch over me". I was just beginning to have mobility and balance issues. My wife really didn't like it. We'd meet up at my car at the end of the day, or he'd go out with "friends and contacts" and be brought back to the hotel later. At the Nashville Convention, I went alone. LOL. In hindsight, and even back then, I tried not to hold any animosity over it. As from his point of view, I was holding him back, just dead weight to be lugged around and introduced to his people.

Gov. Lee's actions; background checks, call for Red Flag Law
hipower replied to DO-TN's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Re: Sexton and his comment about red flag laws. "ButRep. Sexton, during that time, shot down the idea of adopting red flag laws unless they had a mental health treatment tied to it." So was he saying that gun owners who had weapons taken should have mental health treatment, or that mental heath screenings should be a prerequisite in the process to remove these weapons from lawful owners? -
Wanted to go again this year, but couldn't walk that much now. Wheelchair? LOL! No. Never make it down an aisle.

In a word....NO.

Rails or no rail. Really don't bother me. If it shoots...I like it! -
Not sure anything is here.

My friend, if you could get a good answer, I'd be surprised. To me, the gist of all the anti arguments boil down to the "I don't like guns. So you can't have any." All sorts of add-ons to that, but that's my take on the whole thing. A bit off-track, maybe, but my wife and I were watching the 6 PM, Channel 5 News as Lee's Red Flag was being discussed. She still doesn't seem to understand why I'm so vehemently opposed to it. Summed it up this way. Liberal, MoM's Demand Action, nerighbor calls and says "My neighbor has a gun. I'm scared. He shouldn't have it." Police come and take gun(s) without any notice. I can't stop it. Why should neighbor be able to do this?

That 24 looks fantastic! The others aren't too bad either! LOL

Hard to tell with the grainy photo, but is that Mick Rooney with the Thompson?

Well, we just finished binging the Anson Mount saga of Hell on Wheels. I think this is the 4th time for me. The wife...???? Many I know. Says Anson has great eyes. She used to say that about me! Oh well, he is good-looking guy. Anyway, this time around I was watching Cullen's pistols and his gun handling. I loved the rifles too, but those pistols were awesome. Two really caught my eye this time around...the Colt 1860 Army, and the Remington 1858 New Army. The Remington especially intrigued me a bit more. Why? Not sure, it just did. Watching the gunfighting and the cyclinder swapping out for reloads got me to wondering about the idea of owning one. Just for S****& Grins, of course. But wouldn't it be a blast on a range! So what would be your opinion? Pros and Cons of buying one. Won't be real soon, but it has me thinking about it. I'd appreciate anything you might tell me about either one actually. Thanks.

We compromised on 64. LOL. She's just fine in jammies and a throw at this temp. I, on the other hand, crawl under a flannel sheet, a quilt from my Granny, and a cheap throw to keep comfy. I get cold these days. Just the reverse of when we first got together.

Josey Wales, I believe.

Wish I'd kept the 336 I got from my b-i-l. Bought it on a whim when he needed some cash. Had been worked over pretty well witha new bead sight, barrel shortened to minimum, and large loop. It looked really sharp! Alas, he wanted it back afterwards. Wife got in the middle and said it's not worth a fuss. So it went back to Tad.

Your wook looks really good. But...I'm the oddball. I liked the finger groves on it. Why? Because I got small hands and it fit me. Now up front, I haven't shot that particular revolver; only held it and wiped the drool off before handing it back. I haven't shot any 44 mag in years. Doubt it would be fun for me these days, but i did love it for a while. 6.5 inch 644 Dirty Harry and a Desert Eagle 44 were enough for me. Don't laugh, but I have a Taurus 4" 44 right now. That's the last one I've shot. It wasn't bad.

Gov. Lee's actions; background checks, call for Red Flag Law
hipower replied to DO-TN's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I agree. But...2 words...Biden wants. That's the danger point. I know, not Old Joe actually; but those who prop him up. The man thinks he's Superman and is looking to prove it! -
I know there's a lot of gearheads here, and wondering if anyone might have an interest in framed/matted Dale Klee prints. bought a few over the years, but in preparation for a possible move soon...thought I'd ask.

Need New Carry Flashlight - Suggestions appreciated
hipower replied to crc4's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
I think I'll stick with my Streamlight. Not fancy, and it's old, but it works, -
Sounds interesting. Maybe like a BBQ Vienna sausage sandwich?

I like your thinking. But you're only 40?!?! Way too young to be this fatalistic. I got quite a few years on you, and have begun to think your way. I've accumulated a modest collection, nothing really rare, but things I've liked. No kids, and few of my family have an interest if buying me out. So I as I get prepared...many will leave me. Like you, a few sentimental pieces and favorites, but most need to leave. Suprisingly, the favs tend to be 45 and 22. That's strange for an old coot who didn't buy a 1911 until I was 40.
