  1. Luckyforward, did you buy the Browning SA-22? They are at the top of my "interest" list, right now. I'd like to hear what you think about yours and if it shoots accurately. We cam PM, if you feel more comfortable talking about it that way.
  2. Thanks guys, for all of the posts. I've been off of here for a while. I did find a stainless convertible, like new, in the box and took it home with me. Due to COVID, I haven't been able to get out and shoot it. I don't mean I had COVID. I'm an old dude, with a couple of underlying medical conditions, so I haven't gone to OK Corral since this mess started. I can't wait to shoot it. I found a real old one too, and brought it home...sweet trigger, with flat loading gate. I feel like I hit the mother lode!
  3. I just went through the same thing. My S/N was inside the butt plate, where the magazine rod comes out. It had a T and two numbers on the top, three numbers on the bottom, and a number out on the left side all by itself! I think it's a 1961 manufactured rifle. It's a take-down model. If you need to adjust your barrel nut, read instructions and watch videos first. Finally, don't let that little spring and plunger get away from you!!!! It's easy for it to pop out, and I've been looking for mine all day! It's in this room full of carpet somewhere... but I don't know where. JFYI
  4. Used to hunt in a lot of areas close to you, back in the 60s, when I was stationed in Millington. Definitely a different Memphis these days!
  5. In that case, it ought to be a real good price for an airdale sailor, huh?
  6. Thanks for your post, Trekbike. Wow! Forty years! I guess that's a testimonial that it has served your needs well. I was offered a 4" barrel, but am holding out for a 5.5" or 6.5". I'm a hunter, so I hope to get one to carry along on my hunting trips. I saw an El Paso Saddlery holster that looked like it would work well in that capacity. Have you taken any game with yours, over the years?
  7. Deerslayer, I was offered a stainless convertible model with the 4" barrel, but passed on it. I think the 5.5" or 6.5" barrel will suit my needs fine...if I ever find one! I'm running ads on GOC, so if you know someone that has one for sale, please send them my way. Many thanks.
  8. If anyone wants to part with their Ruger Single Six Stainless Convertible after buying one of these Wranglers, I'm your huckleberry, with cash in hand. I like sights, especially replaceable sights. Yes, I'm serious.
  9. Did any of you see the sale at Bass Pro and Cabella's for $419.97? Did anyone get one? I missed out, and now they are showing "out of stock". Bummer! In researching this revolver, I found out that they have barrel length from 4" to 9.7" and calibers from .22LR, .22 Mag, .17HMR, and .32ACP. My favorite would be the Ruger Single Six convertible in stainless and a 5.5"-6.5" barrel. Hate I missed out on the sale. What are you guys favorite barrel length, caliber, and use of this versatile revolver? I'd like as much input as possible, as I'm going to buy one soon. Thanks.
  10. I guess I had forgotten about the 30-30 and I own one.
  11. You're probably right. I could do that as I reload both. I probably have four or five platforms that shoot the 22 Hornet, but always looking for interesting platforms in the 22 Hornet. Currently, I have revolver, bolt actions, break barrel, and combination platforms. You know how it is... we always need one more!
  12. I guess the "rimmed" cartridge of the 22 hornet just didn't feed as well in the pump and lever guns.
  13. Looks like it would have been a perfect platform for the 22 Hornet round.
  14. Thanks KahrMan, but I really would like to locate one locally. I like to hold the gun in my hands before I lay down my hard earned cash. I have only bought one used gun sight unseen and it turned out ok... but don't want to push my luck.
  15. I've always wanted a Silver Snipe in 20 gauge for bird hunting. I'm not sure what the model number is on it. A friend had one in the mid '60s that he let me shoot. I have wanted one ever since.
  16. Did they make a Savage 99 in 22 Hornet?
  17. I do have a 22 Mag with a 20 gauge barrel slung underneath it...Savage 24. I also have one in 22 Hornet/20 gauge. Maybe either one would make a good coyote gun?
  18. Not much talk and only one pic posted by Kahrman on the subject of Dove Shoots/hunting in the middle Tennessee area. Is the dove population down this year or just not many people dove hunting?
  19. Thanks for all the information from everyone. I have a Handi in .243, but have had bypass surgery where my sternum was split open. I'm concerned with recoil, at least for 6-9 months, maybe longer. There's quite a bit of difference in the recoil of the .243 over the .223.
  20. Who was running around with a 5 gallon bucket full of corn? Did someone actually do this?
  21. Hey KahrMan, that is one fancy Beretta! That thing should have auto pilot on it, so that all you'd have to do is point it in their direction! LOL Don't feel bad, most us suck at hitting doves, if the truth be known. I haven't been yet. I had a tripple bypass on Jun 20th, so I had better leave my 12 gauge and probably my 20 gauge in the closet. I have a Mossy pump gun in .410, so I might be able to shoot it. But haven't had a place to go, so maybe I won't shoot even the .410!
  22. Does anyone have any opening day dove hunting reports? Good, bad, or limited out?
  23. Yeah, that .357 May is probably #2 right behind the .22 Hornet. I imagine my 24C Camper's Companion in .22LR/20 Gauge, with 20" barrels is probably #3. I've been working on getting these guns for years.
  24. Ron, I realize this post has been on here a while, but like many others, I hang out on different sites for a while and move around. Sorry you missed the .357 Mag. I like mine, but my prized Savage 24 is a 24V-D in a .22 Hornet/20 Gauge.
  25. Does anyone in the middle Tennessee area hunt coyotes with the H&R/NEF/1871 single shot, chambered in .223 Rem.? How about one chambered in .22 Hornet? I have an H&R in .243, but think that might be a bit of an overkill, here in Middle Tennessee. I was thinking the .223 could give me the distance and knock-down power for most situations.
