  1. TrickyNicky, how does one go about buying a "Benefactor" status, and how much does it cost?
  2. I'm looking for one of these in the MKlll Hunter model, all steel. Does anyone have one they would like to sell, or trade for on a Ruger Blackhawk .45 Colt? I'm on a tight budget, but am looking for a nice one in stainless, with the fluted barrel. I've been researching these, and have read every forum and tidbit of information I cam find. I'm in Murfreesboro, but didn't get to go to the gun show. Were there any available there? Probably over priced, huh? I'd like to get to know one of these better by making it a member of my family.
  3. Got any extra receivers (std Ruger) laying around that you'd like to sell?
  4. Isn't it legal to float a river... no motor... and shoot squirrels from a boat? Doesn't public land run from the water a certain distance up the bank? Just trying to figure out if this is a legal yay to squirrel hunt. A good squirrel dog could be dispatched to retrieve the squirrel and bring it back to the boat. Anyone hunt this way? I understand the water can be awfully cold, if you tip the boat!
  5. Maybe I should re-write this to read that I'm looking for a Savage Model 24 over/under combination gun trigger guard.
  6. Thanks Graycrait... I thought about it. But, when you consider shipping and an FFL fee, I'm probably within $75 of a new Ruger 10-22 at Wally World. I'd pay $100 for a brand new receiver, where we meet I hand over the cash and get the receiver. I have two flat AK-47 receivers... maybe I should bend them and sell them... the price of receivers being what they are these days.
  7. Ted, I agree with you. Why pay $200 for a receiver, when you can get the rest of the gun with it for just a little more. Maybe I'll just look for a parts gun. Thanks
  8. Thanks Dolomite, I've picked up some parts off of ebay. Thanks for the links.
  9. I need a Ruger 10-22 Receiver and bolt... two, if anyone has them. Thanks.
  10. Please close and remove this thread. Thanks
  11. Hey guys, anyone own a Stoeger Luger 12 guage semiauto? How about some pros and cons. I'm not sure about the exact model... but, it has 26" vent ribbed barrel with screw in chokes, and wood furniture, blued. Anyone used one of these in the field? I think it's made in Turkey and sold by Stoeger... 3" chamber. Good gun or not? What's an average price range? Thanks.
  12. Update... I couldn't figure out how to post pics on here like gregintenn did, so I posted them on (GOC) Gun Owner's Club. They're a mystery to me, and it sure would satisfy my curosity to know exactly what they are. What would a person use bullets like this for... target shooting? what kind of rifle would shoot them... bolt? Considering the price of silver these days, what would a bullet like this be worth? Would love to hear from someone that has shot them, that could enlighten the rest of us. There was some .44 Mag and some .30 cal brass in the bucket, but the .30 cal brass looks nothing like the pic gregintenn posted. What the heck is it... inquiring minds want to know! Thanks
  13. I'm trying to post pics, but can't seem to figure out just how to do it. Any idea on how this is done? Thanks to anyone that can help.
  14. I'm trying to find either a factory trigger guard, or someone that can make me an aluminum trigger guard for a Savage Model 24 .30-30/20 Ga. combo gun. I know there are plastic replacements available, but I'd prefer a custom one made out of aluminum. The butt plate is a custom made trap door design ( holds rifle and shotgun rounds in the stock) made out of aluminum. a matching trigger guard would look good.   The original trigger guard is held in place by a screw from inside the receiver on the front and an external screw on the rear. I have an exact copy of this trigger guard, that I took off of one of my other guns. Any one up to the task... and if so, what would you build one of these for. CNC machine shops can do it in quick order... but, I can't afford their price! I'm tempted to tackle this myself... on my Dremel Jig Saw.
  15. It's hard enough to afford ammo these days... not to mention a Krag! I'm open for donations!
  16. Thanks for all who responded. This is exactly what they look like. I don't have anything that would shoot these... nor even brass to load them into. What are they worth? What I mean is, if I were to find someone to trade bullets with, say for .357 Mag or .45 Colt, should I expect to get one for one, or better? Thanks for your help.
  17. I bought a couple of kitty litter buckets of old reloading items from an English gent a while back. Been trading some and keeping some of it. Ran across some bullets that have me dumbfounded. These things look like they're made out of silver, they're long and round nose. The diameter is .263 and the length is around 1.270. from the tail it's obvious that they are full jacketed. They have a smooth grove canulure on some, and almost none at all on others. I haven't weighed them out yet... and should have before I posted this. But, my curosity got the best of me!   Anybody know anything about these bullets, or what they might be used in? I've got 93 of them. Thanks for your help.
  18. Update... I have added a Ruger .357 Mag Blackhawk with a 6 1/2 inch barrel, as a companion gun to the Savage 24 .357/20 gauge. Wow! this thing is an anvil! The .38 Specials feel like i'm shoothing .22LR in it! the .357 mag factory loads aren't bad either. I think I'm going to love this pair. Can't wait to do some hunting with them... heck, just to shoot them some more!
  19. EastHipster, did you get the coyote... or coyotes? I hang out at the Murfreesboro airport a lot, and I know of two deer that they have killed on the airport property...and cleaned their bones! Played games with a young one there a couple of months back in my car. Could have nailed him... but, the airport is inside the city limits. Hope you got them before they got the fawns.
  20. Thanks, I'm writing down various recipes people offer. I'm not sure how the extra length of my barrel will affect the loads. Looks like the 158gr semi jacketed soft point will probably be my choice of bullet for hunting. Thanks again, for the info.
  21. Thanks for the information folks. Some say yea and some say nay on deer hunting with the .357Mag. I have other guns I can use for that...Marlin .30-30 lever action, and a Savage bolt in .243. I had planned on keeping the shots in close, and broadside only. But, I can have fun with the gun on other things, as soon as I build up some brass, and some recipes, to reload up or down. I like to start down first, and never excede the published loads. I guess the slow burning powder would be best, as it has a 24" barrel to burn up in. I was thinking jacketed hollow points for the bullet. I'm also trying to keep the reloading cost to a minimum. I've hunted for this little Savage 24, break action for a long time... like all of us usually do, I paid too much for it... but, I've got one by golly!
  22. Anyone in the Murfreesboro area have any .357 Mag brass for sale/trade? New caliber I've recently acquired in a rifle, and haven't been able to find any reasonably priced loaded ammo... to build up some brass from. Any help is greatly appreciated. Spent lots of time at WM, with no luck. Thanks.
  23. I promise I'm not in the market to resale .357 Mag ammo! I just got a rifle chambered in that caliber, and went into shock when I saw some of the prices. I'll reload it as soon as I get my brass built up... but right now, I'm having a hard time finding any .357 Mag ammo at Wal Mart prices. I've waited in line at WM for as long as 6 hours, and narry a round when all of the trucks were unloaded! Anybody got any they'd part with? If so, let me know your quantity and price... and location. I'm in Murfreesboro... and hope I can find some in the local area. Thanks.
