  1. Garufa--- I see your point. No Ruger parts... 1022? Don't know!   Hozzie--- Wow! That KIDD Supergrade is one sharp gun!   Oh Shoot--- You're probably right. Back to what Garufa said.   Tricky Nicky--- Sorry, I didn't mean to break any rules. I guess I thought you had to be a Benefactor to sell a gun, but that anyone could say they wanted to buy one. My apologies. And someone with the authority... would you please close this thread. Thanks.
  2. Right... I know there are quite a few videos on UTube, but I just thought a series of close up, high resolution, pics of the mods and dis-re-assembly process would be highly beneficial to anyone that wants to mod or "deep" clean their Ruger MK series pistol. I think a tutorial, with high resolution pics, would be much appreciated. What do the rest of you think?
  3. Do they have an online store like Bud's? I was very pleased with my last two transactions with Bud's. Think they'll sell a Ruger MKlll Hunter for less than Bud's?
  4. This sort of thing is the reason I only pay with USPSMOs (United States Postal Money Orders). Mail fraud will put the fear into the worst scumbags. And yes, a friend is a scumbag if he takes your property and gives nothing in return! It's called ...thievery!
  5. Three fine specimens, indeed! I'd like to see more people posting pics of their "original stock" modding/refinishing.
  6. Got any extra 1022 receivers that you'd like to part with?
  7. Been there... done that! And, enjoyed it very much. It's great to get out in the country atmosphere, shoot, eat a brown bag lunch (which you bring), and relax...all for $5! Can't beat it. Wish we had something like this closer to the B'oro.
  8. Are the people that are tricking out the Ruger 10-22s installing custom receivers. I'm thinking that if they are, there should be a few Ruger 10-22 receivers out there for sale. I'm just trying to assemble a stock Ruger 10-22, nothing fancy... just a plinker for shooting tin cans or paper. Don't even have to be in great condition. Anyone got one in their parts bucket? Anyone else built one from spare parts? How did it work out?
  9. Call Remington. They have a special "historical" section that can tell you exactly when it was made, and I believe they can tell you where it was shipped to initially. I love 1100s, and have a couple myself.
  10. Has anyone considered posting a picture sequence of the tasks involved in changing the LCI, and magazine disconnect on the MKlll on here? I don't know for sure, but think there is probably a video on it somewhere on here. Just saying it might be helpful to folks.
  11. Sorry I missed this post, Graycrait. I'm just trying to put a stock Rugger 10-22 together, from a box of parts.
  12. Thanks Dolomite, I bought the bolt. Now, I just need the receiver, and I can put my 10-22 together. Thanks again.
  13. Been looking for a receiver that I can pick up used to do this very thing. Don't know where one is do you? I have all the parts to put a stainless 10-22 together, except for the receiver. Great job on yours, by the way. You gotta show us another pic when it's installed on the gun.
  14. I'm trying to buy some Ruger MK series guns locally... and can't believe the prices some think their guns are worth. Sure, we all want to buy low and sell high, but some don't use common sense logic on pricing their guns. Common sense tells us that a house costs more in New York or Los Angeles than it does in Woodbury Tennessee. To a degree, the same logic can be applied to guns. Many look at the unrealistic  "asking" prices on Gun Broker...you know, the ones that close without getting one single bid, and try to say they're selling for such and such a price on GB. To get the "real" selling prices, one must go to the "Completed Sales". What I'm trying to say, is that different people in different locations around the country will pay different prices for the same identical gun. When selling "locally", the local market is the watermark, not what one sold for in Seattle or New Jersey.   We have a number of online, and local, outlets to compare prices with these days. Bud's gun shop is one I have in mind, and they often throw in free shipping...just as an online reference. Grady Jones' Gun Shop (The Collection Connection), on Hwy 96 in Murfreesboro, is a good reference for local prices.   Why the frustration, you ask. Well, as an example, I'm trying to buy a couple of Ruger MK series pistols, and can't believe what some think they can get for older used Ruger MK l, ll, and llls. Many with asking prices that exceed NIB, unfired, guns.   Example... Bud's has a Ruger MK lll Standard for $315 with free shipping. Grady has the same gun for, I believe, $339 out the door. We're talking about brand new, unfired, guns in the Ruger box, with extra magazine, papers, and all the accessories that come from Ruger. No... sorry, your beat up '80s truck gun with rust, worn bluing, no box, no extra mag, no owner's manual, and no papers is not worth $450!!! Most people are looking for a "stock" factory gun, and aren't willing to pay for accessories that often meet or exceed the original value of the gun. Common sense tells us that money spent on accessorizing guns, boats, automobiles, and even often houses, won't always come back to us when we sell.   Geez, Louise... is it too much to ask for these days, to ask for an honest person that is willing to sell a decent gun at a fair market value... or, are we only dealing with the guys that used to sell watches from the inside of their trench coats!! That's a rhetorical question, but hopefully it reflects my point of this ranting post... "Gun Buying Frustration". Thanks for your time in reading this rant... am I the only one that's experiencing this, or are there others on this forum?
  15. If you ever want to get rid of that MKl, just let me know. I'm looking for one.
  16. Mootw, if it gets to be too much of a PITA, I'll be glad to take it off your hands...at the right price of course! Thought I had a stainless Hunter today. Called the guy back just before heading to the ATM and asked him to confirm the frame was stainless. He pulled it out of the safe and said it says Hunter right on the barrel... gut the grip is black. I said I'll bet it is a 22/45...what does the box say. Sure nuff, it was a 22/45!
  17. Thanks for the link. $319 for that gun is more like it.
  18. In reading through the posts on this site, and others, it seems the MK lll has a few warts that the MKll didn't have. While we're checking out the dirty laundry on the MK lll, has anyone compared the barrel lengths to accuracy? I'm thinking the one I want is the 6.88" barrel length, but there seem to be more of the shorter barrel versions available. On the price, Bud's has sold some used ones, with the shorter barrels for $348 and new ones with the Crimson Trace lazer grips for $598. I may have to go straight cash, but I'm also looking for a trade situation on my Ruger Blackhawk .45 Colt that's in very good condition. I know the process to get a good deal is an uphill climb, but hopefully, patience and someone needing cash, or a real nice Blackhawk, will have a real nice one they are willing to part with...probably not from this site, as we all want to keep ours, right? My research continues.
  19. JHC77, if you decide to part with that MKl, please let me know. I keep thinking I'll run up on one in a yard sale, or a real-estate auction, but nothing so far. I may have something you'd like to have in a trade...or, a straight cash deal would work for me.
  20. Thanks PackinMama, That's a good report on the SS Hunter and makes me feel that my effort in the pursuit of one will pay off some day. I'm looking for the exact gun you have, but need to move cautiously, so as not to pay too much for it. I looked at a NITB Ruger MKlll stainless, Target, Slab Side in a local gun shop this afternoon for $559 out the door. It had the fancy Ruger walnut "Target" grips, with the thumb rest. This gun should be pretty comparable to the Hunter, in price. Therefore, I think I should be able to pick up a used one, at a reasonable price, if I take my time.   I can do that, as I have acquired a Ruger MKll Target, with blued 5 1/2" barrel. It's a 1991 model, and in excellent condition. Checking the "asking" prices on Gunbroker, these brought about as much money as the MKlll Hunters! Apparently, they are pretty much sought after too. I'll enjoy...and keep, my MKll Target, while I look for that "bargain" in the MKlll Hunter... all stainless, with fluted barrel, and fiber optic sights. This way, there's no hurry...and I can wait out the best deal.   Have you experimented with different ammo in yours? On the Ruger Forum, some say they will graze on anything you feed them... and others say theirs like this kind of ammo, or that kind of ammo. So far, my MKll Target doesn't seem to care what's in the magazine. I definitely think my MKll is a keeper.    A friend of mine and I were considering a trade for my Ruger Blackhawk .45 Colt, until he said his was a 22/45 Hunter. That meant "polymer frame", and a deal killer for me. Shame too, as his was brand new... with only one mag shot through it. He has the box, papers, and all the goodies. I thought it was the Hunter like yours.   Anyway, I'm glad you latched onto one, and are so pleased with it. Let us know how the "Red Dot" works out. I'm thinking it's going to be fantastic. Can't wait to get mine... patience...patience...take a deep breath... now relax! I'm OK now... think I'll go shoot my MKll Target again tomorrow. Thanks again for your review on your MKlll Hunter. It helps me know I'm on the right path.
  21. GrayCrait, I don't own a Ruger MKlll, but am looking for a Hunter. What is the problem with the mag disconnect and loaded chamber indicator? Do they cause some operational problem with the function or accuracy of the MKlll? Please understand... I'm not challenging, just asking. I'm a newbie, and trying to learn as much as I can about the Ruger MKlll Hunter... including a reasonable price. Thanks for your help.
  22. Thanks for the information. Now it makes sense that the polymer is actually a 22/45. The one I'm wanting is the MKlll Hunter with stainless fluted barrel, fiber optic front sight and stainless frame. Someone on here mentioned that Bud's had them for $509. I checked, and they're out of stock right now. But I saw where one with Crimpson Trace Lazer grips sold for $598, and used ones for $348. I'm not interested in one with lazer grips, but hope to find a nice used one in all stainless for $350 to $400. What do you guys think? Is that a realistic price in Middle Tennessee? Thanks.
  23. I'm in "hot pursuit" of a Ruger MKlll Hunter and noticed they come in stainless frames, and in polymer frames. I own some polymer frame guns (ie. Glock 26) and have no problem with them. But, I'm thinking it's probably worth the difference in cost to go for the stainless frame in the MKlll Hunter. I'd be obliged, if I could get opinions from owners of both examples, including the pros and cons. Also, in the used market, is there that much of a price difference between the two models? Thanks.
  24. Is either of the MKllls the "Hunter" model? if so, what do you think of it? Is the fiber optic front sight too crude for accuracy? Will it dine on any ammo, like I hear so many saying the others will? If the creeks don't rise, I hope to find and own the MKlll Hunter, with the stainless fluted barrel, stainless frame, and fiber optic front site. Where did you get yours, and what might a budget minded ole cuss expect to have to pay to get one of these? There must be some "lightly" used ones around for a good price... someone on here said Bud's has them for $509. can't wait to shoot one.
