  1. I just placed an order for 500 .223 cal FMJ bullets...shipped to my door for $44.49! That's .088 cents per round, shipped. Rounded off to 9 cents per round on 55gr., .223, FMJ, copper plated bullets. Right now the UPS ground shipping is only $5.00...regardless of quantity! Great deal, and American Made. http://www.xtremebullets.com/category-s/1819.htm
  2. Thanks, maybe that posting pics wasn't too good an idea after all.
  3. The seller still hasn't said the barrel is a "Thompson Center" Super 14...he just says it's a Super 14. If I can figure out how to post pics on here, I'll post one or two, to see if you TC guys can tell me if the barrel is a TC barrel. Is it possible to just copy and paste a pic in this section? Thanks.
  4. Appreciate the information Wiljo05. Like I told Rightwinger, the thing that puzzled me, was the lack of sign in the area. The landowner swears they are there, but we did not find one single fresh scat...nor any old scat either!
  5. Thanks Rightwinger, but the thing that baffled me was that there was no fresh scat...anywhere! That many coyotes has to leave some sign, don't they?
  6. I know this thread started years ago, but coyote hunting is never old news, at least not to me. I went out this afternoon, after an invitation from a local friend, to try to help him with his coyote problem. He has hilly, rocky, areas with thick brushy overgrowth and a few grown up small pastures. On my way up his driveway, I saw a deer. We saw three more in the course of the afternoon, along with a couple of wild turkey.   He says he's counted as many as 15 coyotes down in the pasture, with his binoculars. He has an Artic Cat mule, so we did some walking and some riding. The purpose was to scout the area for good stand locations. We could not find any fresh scat! The heavy growth should have revealed some trails, but no trails to speak of, and no fresh scat. He said he heard them fire up about three days ago, and has heard them at night for some time. The ground was pretty dry and hard, but even on a road, in a mature wooded area, we did not find any fresh scat.   We probably scouted over his area for a good three hours, afoot, and on the 4 wheeler mule...and nothing! My question is this...with a dozen, or more, coyotes in the area, wouldn't there seem to be some fresh scat in some of the trails, or roads? They said they have seen it in the past along their very long driveway (1/2 mile +) before. But the driveway is gravel and it was just drug a couple of days ago. he and his wife said they really fire up when a helicopter and a small ultra-lite aircraft fly over the area. I'm frustrated, to say the least. Any suggestions would be helpful. Oh, by the way, he showed me pics of coyotes on his trail cams he keeps out all of the time. Any idea about what I can do to help him when I can't get any idea of their travel route? There is a creek on the property, and a stagnant small pond on his neighbor's property. Thanks.
  7. Thanks Dolomite, Frankmako, and Westwind Mike. I haven't seen the barrel in person, and the pics don't show it either, but the seller says that it is written on the barrel. He also states that the iron sights have been removed...were removed when he got it from someone else. Thanks for your help.
  8. Tnguy, I was at first. But now, I've resorted to just checking out suspicious looking places, when one catches my eye. I'm still looking!
  9. Bersaguy, sure wish I had thought of that. I actually have a tape recorder! But, at the time...I never had the foggiest idea I wouldn't be able to find them later. I thought I was putting them in the places I would never forget! I was wrong!
  10. Trying to deal with an individual that answered my GOC ad, in which I was looking for a .223 "Super 14" barrel for my early model Thompson Contender. In his answer he merely said he had one, and gave me the price, which included a wooden forearm and a weaver base. He further stated it was a slick barrel...no sights.   Here's my question, didn't all of the "Super 14" .223 barrels come with iron sights? I know there are a lot of after market barrels for the Contender, and fear this may be one of them. I do not want a Brand X barrel, I want a TC "Super 14" .223 barrel...and I do believe it comes with factory iron sights. Am I right or wrong? My Super 14 in .30-30 has iron sights, but my 7-30 Waters Super 14 does not. Thanks for your help. I know there's got to be some knowledgeable Contender folks on here that can give me the nitty gritty on the "Super 14 .223" Contender barrel.
  11. Actually, someone that lives in another town prefers the 50 round boxes to sell. He owns a store, in a town south of here, and sells to people that buy .22LR to actually hunt with. He said there was more profit in the 50 round boxes, and that was what they wanted. When I was a kid, about 146 years ago, a 50 round b ox of .22 LR lasted a long time in bolt actions, or single shot rifles. Let's see, 50 rounds is about 2 mags full in the 10-22 Ruger, and they won't last long! Lots of fun though.
  12. Well, I feel better knowing I'm not the only one that does this. The bad side is...I'm still looking! You'd think I could find a Contender 10" barrel, with a scope on it! Every time I think of a new place to look, I just know one of them is going to be there. Nope...nothing...nata...it's just like they walked off. But, I'm the only one here. Spooky, huh?
  13. Good shot! You're lucky...in one way... that you can shoot yotes from your back porch. On the other hand, sorry about the loss of your calves. I'll bet ole Shawn would be glad to help you thin out the yotes. Heck, any of us would. Hope you get them before they get any more of your calves.
  14. A few days ago, I had the possibility of some utility people coming into where I live. I didn't want to draw attention to the guns, and gun parts I had lying around. So, I started hiding them like Easter eggs. Fast forward a few weeks, and I decide to un-hide all of them, just so I could put an eyeball on them. Well, I found all of the complete ones, but have two barrels that I've been looking for about a week now! One is a 28" ribbed Remington 1100 barrel, and the other is a 10" Contender barrel in .22 Hornet, with a scope on it. I'm sure they'll "turn up", but it's bugging me that I can't remember where I hid them! Guess I hid them too well. Just wondering if any of you guys had done that, or if I am the only absent minded TGOer on here?
  15. Maybe their lawyer told them to do that. That way when they get hit, it'll probably be worth a cool million!
  16. I have a 800 CRTG 5.56 mm larger ammo can that will pop in my spare bedroom as the pressure changes. First time it did it at about 2 AM, it shook me up a bit! It'll do it every now and then because it's big and empty. I'm single, so I knew there was not supposed to be anyone else there...and I don't have any pets. Needless to say, it got my attention!
  17. I just bought some CCI 22 WMR Maxi-Mag 40 gr. Total Metal Jacket about an hour ago in the Old Fort Parkway Wal-Mart in Murfreesboro. There was probably 8 to 10 boxes left on the shelf. These were $13.47 + 10 cents ammo fee, for a box of 50. These are 1875 FPS. There was also some 9mm Winchester in the white box, but I can't remember how much it was. There was about 8 to 10 boxes of it on the shelf. I doubt if it'll be there too long tomorrow.
  18. Anyone on here eat the fish out of Stones River?
  19. Wow! She is one tough lady. Good for her, that she fought back. Her sorry husband should rot in prison.
  20. JAB, There's been times when I felt the same way. But, with the cost...and supply, of ammo working against us these days, a single shot makes the ammo last longer! Like you, I have some guns that can burn up $30 worth of ammo in a few seconds, and they're exciting and fun...until I have to replace the ammo. I sort of look at them as being on a champagne budget. Now the single shot guns, and cheaper operating single shot pellet guns, put me back on a beer budget...which I can afford to shoot more on. No doubt, reloading helps in this matter.   This past summer I offered my AR-15 and about four thirty round of mags...at least they had gone through four mags before I got it back! Let's see at a minimum of fifty cents a round,  and four times thirty rounds...comes to about 120 rounds. That's $60 worth of ammo in very short order! Guess they thought you were supposed to empty and 30 round mag in an AR, before cease firing. Next time, I'll take some of my 5 round mags! Or, I'll show up with pellet guns!
  21. Sounds like it has the capacity to eliminate backyard pests...at least the ones with feathers. I'll check out the vids. Thanks.
  22. Wow! Sure fooled me. That's a sharp BB pistol. Is it accurate? Where does the Co2 tank go in? how many shots do you get from the standard 12 gram bottle? I just may have to have one of these. I'll bet it shoots pretty hard.
  23. Please explain why you say he doesn't know what he's talking about? Thanks.
  24. This is great! Many have chimed in, and we hope many more will...especially with some hunting stories. I started looking for "Pellgunoil" in the B'oro a couple of days ago. Couldn't find any...but Academy in Smyrna had it.   One of the U-tube video guys talks about substituting non detergent 30 weight motor oil. Claims to have used it for years...and said his seals last longer than with Pellgunoil. I dunno. I bought the recommended stuff for the initial break in of my Crosman 2240...if it ever gets here! Maybe next week.   I have a Otter Stealth 2000 duck boat (sort of like a kayak, canoe, and catamaran in one), and I think this gun will be handy to have when fishing the local fishing spots.
  25. Good news to hear you're in the bug zone...and not something more serious. But we'll keep the prayers coming your way, and hope you're well soon. My bug hung on for the better part of 2 1/2 to 3 weeks! Do what the Doc says!
