  1. I took a trip to the range with my daughter and the new to me Glocks. I ran 150 rounds through the gen 4 26 and the gen 3 17, both ran without a hiccup. My daughter shot both and surpisingly likes the 17 better. She says she likes the longer grip of the 17 much better than the shorter grip of the 26. I keep hearing about the gen 4 problems and I guess I'm just waiting on a failure, but I've yet to have a problem. I figure with the daughter being smaller that limp wristing might bring on a failure but it didn't. Another 100 rounds and I might start carrying the 26. This brings up a question. How many rounds do you shoot before deciding a gun is reliable enough to carry? I was playing around with the camera while she was shooting. Took what I thought was a cool picture.
  2. A friend bought a new Bergara barrel for a standard Encore (not prohunter) and it was terrible. The action wouldn't close after the barrel was installed. It was off more than just a little bit. Just my 2cents...I wouldn't buy the Bergara.
  3. Nice bird!
  4. I have bigger hands and I can't say that the different grips helps me shoot any better but there is a difference. I've added the backstraps just to see how they feel and took them back off. When I pull the gun up to shoot I don't even think about the grip. It seems I only pay attention to the grip when handling it at home. When at the range I guess I focus more on trigger control and hitting the target. I might go shoot it again tomorrow and try it in a different configuration just to see how it feels.
  5. Dang, I can't afford their ammo prices. But the good news is they are putting in plenty of bike racks. Below is from the Farragution Press Gander Mountain is the first commercial business that will have to comply with the Town’s new regulations requiring bicycle racks. Hawk said Gander Mountain only would have to install bike racks for the 10,000 square foot addition, but has elected to install bike racks for the entire building. I can't help but laugh. About all I ever see in the parking lot is F250's.
  6. Ive never owned a Swarovski. Looks like an awesome scope. I like good glass on my rifles too.
  7. I've never been a Glock guy till recent. I shot a friends 17 and have tried to buy it many time with no success. He refuses to give it up. After looking around and trying to pick up a used Glock I ended up getting a new one. Well, the wife and I took it to ORSA this morning and put some rounds down the pipe. We also took her gen 3 26 and my XD to do a comparison. Other than the grip on the Glocks I couldn't tell them apart. I never thought the glocks trigger was heavy till pulling the XD's right after. Just my 2cent but the Springfield trigger is a little better. However the difference was not enough to hurt anything. The only other thing I noticed was the gen 4 seemed to shot a little left. No big deal ns will be installed soon. I've got to put more rounds through it before It gets carried, but so far I like it. Oh yeah... we took the camera and the wife shot some pics too. I like the fire coming out the end.
  8. Figured since it was raining this morning nobody would be at the range. Well, nobody was at the 200 yard part anyway. So I broke out the camera and took some pics of the kids with the AR. It was the first time my daughter tried to shoot it off hand. With an extra hand from dad she did just fine. My son can handle it without my help. After that we moved to the pistol range. There were a few more people around than I like when the kids are with me. I let them shoot my XD40 and a youth model 870 20ga. (that my son has outgrown). I know they don't get as much enjoyment out of it as I do, but I love spending time with them. Their getting to the age where they want to do their own thing. Now both are asking for their own handgun.
  9. I look at some of them and really like it, and other times I'm not so sure. Is it just the fact the slide looks different? You guys like the looks or not?
  10. I'm using a Canon 50D with a couple different lenses. I've added different filters to the lenses giving the photos a different look. (kinda like putting on sunglasses with a different colored lens) And like Dave said, changing the depth of field makes the animals pop out. I don't photoshop, but with my camera and software I can change brightness, hue, sharpness, and saturation. If you change any of the settings much the photos will look bad. I tend to shoot overexposed at times. I can load the images to the computer and correct the problem. I bought the camera to take sports pics of my daughter. However, the softball coach refused to let me on the field or in the dugout to take pics. My daughter played centerfield, so most of the pictures were at a great distance. I did get a chance to change shutter speeds as she caught fly balls. Some looked like the ball had no action to it and others looked like a rocket coming into her glove. I like to go to events and take pictures. Ball games, shooting ranges, family reunions, etc. If I get a chance to meet some of you at a shoot I'll bring the camera and take some action shots and post them on here.
  11. I like to hunt as much as the next guy. I have just as much fun shooting with a camera. Hope you guys enjoy the photos.
  12. you've shot. Looking to replace stock trigger in my AR, but I've never shot an aftermarket trigger in the AR platform. I've adjusted or replaced the triggers in almost all of my hunting rifles except this one. Why? Price! I'd like to reduce lb pull and creep. I'm thinking single stage with about 4lb pull. What have you guys put in your AR's that you like, or what have you put in you didn't like?
  13. Nice! That's one that's on my list. Friend has one and I liked it the second I picked it up.
  14. Nice rifle for sure.
  15. I have just a few board that I visit. On a couple of the big sites I continue to see these guys that post all the time about....I would never do this...I would never do that. It makes me wounder how many would go back on their word if given a chance. I'm talking about the guys that claim they would never hunt over bait, hunt predators during the spring, hunt at night, etc. I remember not too long ago hearing the famous " I will never use a crossbow". Now everybody knows somebody that has one. I bet 50% or more would change the way they hunt if it were legal to do so.
  16. She likes the grips. It goes to show you never know how they think. I figured the grip would be too big for her hands, but not once did she say anything about it. I figured the Talon grips would bother her, but they didn't. I thought she may have a hard time with the slide, but nope. What do I know!
  17. Took the wife to CCA last Sunday to try out the G26 I bought from a fellow TGO member. Within the first few rounds she turned to me and said "I like this way better than the 642". She has always liked the S&W and I never thought she would ever give it up. Well, I guess I was wrong. I put the 642 in the safe and she's not metioned it one time. The Glock has been on her hip ever since. She still has a little problem with flinching after just a few rounds. We have been working on sight picture and dry firing. I think it will only help. Can't wait for it to warm up so we can shoot outside with a little less noise.
  18. Good job! That thing has a nice color to it's fur. Now you're hooked for sure.
  19. What camera and lense are you shooting? I'm kinda a photo geek myself. I like doing some wildlife pics. Take a 100 pics and keep 4 or 5. I'm not that good.
  20. I did some when I was a kid and then about four years ago I got back into it. I do it to help out some neighbors. Almost all of it has been coyote. Anyone else?
  21. Wally will not carry or order tactical type guns. So I was told by the Wally World staff. Here in Knoxville some Wally stores carry guns and some don't carry any guns at all. I think the one on Walker Springs can't or won't carry them.
  22. The dope head...sorry I couldn't help it.
  23. What he said I gotta ask how you like the Mossberg 930. Will it run as good as I hear?
  24. I have a former co-worker that traded a cop for his G17 a few years ago. He let me take it to the range and shoot it for him. I tried to buy it the next day and he would not sell it. It shot great. To this day he's never shot it and probably never will.
  25. Good game
